Does anyone know my only one side of my face is dry? My left cheek is ALWAYS dry and rough feeling. I moisturize with jojoba oil at night, and when I wake up, its dry again. After I shower, my left cheek gets dry and rough again and stays like that for the majority of the day.

I feel f*cking awful right now. I am 24 bloody years old and I still can't get rid of this! When I called my doctor (not my dermatologist) to get him to renew my Finacea prescription he questioned why I wanted it because "you're 24, you're too old for acne". Yeah, doc, I guess I'm just a miracle of nature.

The worst thing is that I actually look really good. I have great facial features (apart from the scars which I've learned to live with) and girls love me. I've been travelling this summer in a bunch of warm countries and I always get a great tan so that helped immensely with the acne. I met a nice girl from another country who I hit it off with. Now she wants me to come visit her which sounds like a blast. Too bad she'll be seeing a complete different me. Pale, red marks and a fresh new breakout. I'm disgusted just by looking myself in the mirror.

I know that feel all too well man. 25 here and acne has stayed the same since 14. I have been told I have great facial features too and I also have some scarring but that's whatever. It doesn't detract that much and have even been told it makes me look rugged. I'm sure girls view your scars the same.

Honestly for guys our age, I am realizing more and more that accutane is the only answer and everything else is just wasting our time. Just sucks that the best method is a poison. Creams, diets, etc will only give us hope (I have tried them all) and never give us the results we really want and well be back here 2,5, and possibly 10 years posting about how we still have acne. Good luck man.

I should never have cancelled that Roaccutane consultation a few weeks back, I was put off it but now i'm in pain feeling ugly and getting more and more scars and cysts. Antibiotics and topicals are a waste of time. I said Roac was my last resort...I guess it's come to that now. Had enough now. 29 and dealing with this is a crock of shit.

Same here. My dermatologist told me about a year ago that she would prescribe me Accutane. I have cancelled like 3 different appointments where I was going to get it so I could give my new antibiotic or topical a little more time. It's unfortunate that we have to resort to a poison but the risk may be worth it at this point.

That's the same with me, I wanted to try all other routes first...I didn't even have to ask my dermatologist for roaccutane, our first appointment she said straight away she wanted me on it. The antibiotics and topical worked well for the first 8 or 9 weeks but I seem to becoming resistant to them now. I second what you say about the poison but it's a risk i'm ready to take now.

Feeling pretty good about it overall. Several small new whiteheads today, nothing major. Several whiteheads that are still developing and coming into form. I've avoiding picking for several days now and several of my spots are drying up nicely. I think my hyper-pigmentation is continuing to fade which is absolutely excellent news! My skin has been dry and flakey due to not moisturizing, but I'm dealing with it since it really seems to be helping exfoliation and cell turnover in the long run, further healing my face.

not sure - but do you sleep on your left side? If so maybe that would be why. Maybe that would be enough to rub off jojoba oil rather than letting it moisturize

Hmmm. Good point. I tend to sleep on both sides of my face. I love to bury my face in my pillow, but maybe ill try sleeping without my cheeks touching my pillow just to see what happens.

Yeah no harm in trying.

I've been trying to 'train' myself to sleep on my back just so I don't have fabric on my skin possibly causing irritation all night - but I find it so uncomfortable! Easier to just make sure I have a fresh pillow case each night. :P

Yeah i HATE sleeping on my back. When I use to use topicals and leave them on overnight, I kind of trained myself to sleep on my back and not on my cheeks or face, but now that I dont use anything other than a moisturizer, I just bury my face in my pillow. I even tried applying the jojoba like an hour or 2 before bed so it can soak in, but my skin is always still dry when I wake up, and after I shower its suuuper dry and rough. I even applied some jojoba on my left cheek this afternoon, and its been about 4 hours, and my skin seems to be getting dry again. Its weird. Ive NEVER dealt with dry skin before. My skin has ALWAYS been oily. Maybe I do have some sort of rosacea.... :/

OK, so I am back to drinking 2 tsp of turmeric in coconut water a day. The taste isn't that bad once you get used to it. The benefits of turmeric are super. My pimples that formed are kinda dried- that was fast. I have one that hurt in between my eyebrows, it is small, but hurts.

My skin looks pretty great today. No active blemishes, and my nose looks better than I think it's ever been because the skin on it is brand new, fresh and pink with none of the old blackheads and marks from old blemishes. After my sunburn peeled, it's like I had a brand new nose, haha...guess there was a bright side after all.

Tomorrow I have an eye exam to get an updated contact prescription, and friday I have my interview at Petsmart. I'm in good spirits tonight!

ughhhh. Im having so much trouble finding a job. Ive sent out like 20 emails and resumes to job listings on craigslist. I have a good resume with experience, but im yet to get a response back. Im not the type of person (with my self consciousness) to walk into some random store or business, drop off a resume, and ask if they are hiring. Thats just not me. Idk what to do.

You'll hear back sooner or later. I had to send out literally like 100 resumes and fill out a ridiculous amount of online applications before I got a call back. And out of all of those, I've only heard back from a security company and petsmart so far. Plus some shady online banking job that I don't even remember applying for, so I just disregarded that one.

The day has passed by a bit, one larger breakout seems to be forming under my skin on the left side of my chin. Fighting off the urge to pick at it or try to pop it. Other than that, several of my other breakouts are drying up nicely! My skin did seem somewhat more oily than usual today, but I will attribute that to not drinking as much water as I probably should.

I hope so. Did you go through Craigslist or somewhere else? I literally refreshed Craigslist every 10 minutes the entire day and sent out resumes and cover letters to everything besides restaurant jobs, which I refuse to work at anymore.

I kinda mixed it up. I sent off a few on Craigslist, a few others on the direct company websites, and I even went to the website of some local newspapers because they all have a jobs section link that lets you apply online. I used to use Craigslist a lot more than I do now, but these days it seems like 50% of the employment section of the site is scammers posting fake jobs, so gotta be careful on there so that your time and effort applying isn't wasted.

Today I feel like crap about my acne. It is at its worst ever! I don't wear makeup to cover it up. I just don't want to wear the makeup to cover it up. Ugh! :(

Feeling better right now. I had an AWFUL day but it got better by the evening. I opened up more to my friends and they're all really supportive and wonderful. My mom is really worried about me so she's coming to be with me for a few days. I can't even explain how wonderful my family is, and how supportive they are. I have no doubts that I have some sort of mental health disorder associated with self image/skin and they've been nothing but kind and loving to me. *mushy post*

I guess it's times like these that I realize love is far more powerful, and far more important than anything on my skin or the insecurities I have with my skin.

Feeling alright about the old marks and scars, but right now I have some active pimples that are really bothering me. Like 4 of them around the sides of my nose. One keeps coming back as this yellowy-green pus-filled thing. I also have 3 big zits on my left temple and some on my forehead. One on my right cheek that I popped yesterday, it'll be insignificant by tomorrow. I am glad my skin's less oily lately.

Just woke up and hopped out of the shower. That larger breakout on my chin I was talking about is still sitting under the surface. Seems to be one of those nasty ones that doesn't come to a head. It's making a portion of my chin very red, painful, and overall unappealing. There is also a larger size breakout forming on my forehead, but this one isn't painful and should start to clear up in a few days if I'm lucky. Other than that, the lemon treatments still seem to be doing some good, so I'm extremely happy about that. Hopefully that continues to go well and I can get rid of that bastardly hyper-pigmentation! Other breakouts still seem to be slowly drying up, the left side of my jawline is a bit ichy due to that. Oh well! Overall, still maintaining a positive outlook and not picking at them!
