Pros:

Affordable in total
Lessens the growth of my pimples
Good replacement for The Regimen BP
EFFECTIVE

Cons:

Expensive if u count the dollar per gram
It dries the skin

I've been using the benzoyl peroxide 5% since i cant seem to find the 2.5% in our local pharmacy. Been waiting for my acne.org products but i can't wait to start so i've been using this and somehow it lessened the number of growth of my acne. I think it would have been better if i used the Benzac 2.5% and maybe my face would be less red, dry and flaky

Pros:

- removes deep acnes
- makes the skin matte
- suits as base for make-up
- neutral smell
- cheap

Cons:

- after longs use makes the skin dry
- provokes NEURODERMATITIS!!!!

I was using both 10% and 5% from april till end of august. I was pretty happy with results, even locally it dries out the skin. Unfortunately when you stop using it acne comes back so intensive as before! Unfortunately after i have started to use this product i have got a strange reaction around my eyes - they got red, were itching, got swollen....also near nose and in the corners of the nose the skin became very dry and it was really disturbing. I didn't know that this product can cause it. But i was by the doctor and checked myself for allergies and i have none of them. So we found out that it was benzoyl peroxide that caused my neurodermitis. After i stopped using everything got good as usual. So you have to be very careful! use it only local on the points of acne!

Pros:

its gel based
can easily spread over your face before it dries

Cons:

itchy at times. but skin gets used to it
small container. the picture of it on the right is about 10 cm

i have been using 10% benzoyl peroxide face cream. and the Galderma gel based benzoyl peroxide was much lighter on my skin. i have just started using it, so i will post another review, since no one else has. its the only product i could get my hands on here in south africa dischem stores. otherwise, there was a 10% benzoyl peroxide oxy cream. and that smelled really bad was about R60 (zar)

Pros:

-cleared up a lot of my acne
-the small amount of acne i still get is smaller and much less raised, goes away quicker
-water based gel formula has been more effective for me than cream alternatives.

Cons:

-dries skin out and make it flake
-only a 5% BP version that i can find, would have prefered 2.5%
-doesnt get 100% get rid of acne, at least it hasnt for me yet

I used Benzac W 5, i assume it is the same product, or at least very similar since it is made by the same company. I started using this because my face got so bad, i was covered in a ton of nodules and cysts, and my face was starting to scar. I got really depressed over it, and out of desperation bought this product because other things i did were not working. When i first used this in the first couple weeks my skin was SOO dry, red and itchy. It was almost unbearable but i could see my skin was improving a little so i continued to use it. This definitely made a noticeable decrease in my acne, i took off my makeup after about 3 weeks of using this and was told my skin looked way better. I would say about 80% of my acne is cleared. i think once the hyper-pigmentation has faded i would be fine going out of the house without makeup, where as before i wouldnt be caught dead. If you can get through the part where you skin is insanely dry, its completely worth it. Just get a good moisturiser and this could solve you acne problem.

Pros:

Saw results within a few days of application
Fairly Inexpensive
Prevented larger pimples to form

Cons:

Too drying
Burns when applied
Loses its "gusto" after a few months
Began irritating skin

Started using Benzac last winter after a bad break out occurred. After a few days of application twice a day, I noticed the existing pimples were becoming smaller and less noticeable. A bit of drying and flakiness happened, but that was an okay trade off. Over the course of a few months of using Benzac, I noticed the texture of my skin becoming rough and bumpy. Even when I do break out, my skin is still soft, but my face felt like sandpaper. I couldn't quite figure out what was causing my skin to react this way, as Benzac was the only "harsh" acne topical I was using on my face, aside from a Purpose Soap Bar. I decided to give Benzac a break because my skin was too irritated. About a week ago, I tried using Benzac on concentrated areas of my face to see if it would irritate them, and an hour or so later, those areas were so red and bumpy. I recommend Benzac to those with normal skin who can take a little "abuse" from their skin care products. But if you have very fair, sensitive skin like me, you might want to steer clear of this one, or use it very sparingly , or apply every other day. On the bright side, since I started and stopped using Benzac, it pretty much eliminated any large pimples from forming. If I do get a break out here and there, the pimples are much smaller and go away faster.

Pros:

It gets rid of SOME acne.
There was no dryness for me.
Can buy at pretty much any chemistry in Adelaide
Relatively cheap

Cons:

Does not get rid of all acne.
Must use consistently otherwise you will break out again.
Small tube.
White smears if too much application.
Sometimes irritable

Give it a try. Didn't work for me but might work with you When I first bought this and used, it started working (slowly) within one week. I initially had no irritation or dryness - but that was probably due to the fact I had smothered my face with salicylic for the past few months allowing time for my skin to build up and endure the chemicals- (Clearasil). After that week, my skin started peeling and my pimples were more visible. The blackheads on my nose did not all go away. I seem to have concluded that they won't go away unless I pop them .. leaving a pore which gets clogged up leading to another black head. I was pretty much going to give up, but I was told to continue it for 8 weeks because that was when I'd likely see the results. It's 8 weeks soon and I still pretty much am back at square one. But this time instead of having little red pimples, I am developing cystic type pimples that are deep within the skin especially on my forehead and around my temples. From these results, I believe that my acne isn't a result of a dirty face, but a result of hormonal changes requiring a more clinical approach. I've decided to go to the doctor to get his opinion. I am hoping to get prescribed some antibiotics to help reduce the inflammation of the cystic pimples as they hurt. I wear glasses as well and the frame is constantly pressing against them. Sometimes it hurts when I blink as well. Anyway, I'd suggest trying it. It's something I believe would work for those with mild-moderate acne, even though it didnt work with me. If you don't get results, don't fret. Go see you GP. You'll definitely get rid of it in the future with or without products and prescription.

Pros:

Works fairly quickly
Isn't greasy
Over the counter
Does its job!

Cons:

Expensive for a small tube
Consistent use is key
Stings for a bit

I've been on and off Benzac AC 5% for the past six months, just sporadically putting it on the trouble areas (in small dabs). But when I fully integrated it in my skincare ritual in the way the regimen does, I saw results. My acne is not severe at all, but the frequency in which I do get breakouts is very often, so I needed something to WORK. Benzac does work, only if you're willing to put the effort in on rubbing it on your whole face (like the regimen says) twice a day. You can't give up even though your face might feel like it's on fire for a few minutes. I think that's a minor trade-off for clearer skin. On the first day after applying Benzac on my face, my reddish pimples that were swollen the day before began to dry up. The smaller whiteheads near my ears/towards the hollows of my cheeks dissipated and I couldn't feel any cysts coming up. My routine goes: Cleanse with 1) Ponds Clear Solutions Anti-Bacterial Facial Scrub Treat with 2) Benzac AC 5% Moisturise with 3) The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion (When my skin is extra dry, I don't use the Tea Tree Lotion. Instead I use 4) Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion) Hope it works for you!
