Pros:

softens
moisturizes
lightens scars over time if used promptly and consistently

Cons:

possibly comedogenic (at least for me)
greasy feel (duh)

I applied emu oil every other day for a couple weeks over some non-acne scars I had on my chest and a HUGE cyst erupted (about an inch in diameter) and I NEVER get acne on my chest. I cannot safely say the emu oil was the cause but it seems likely. The scars look like they have improved, but that might be a placebo.

Pros:

Inexpensive, fades red/ dark marks some

Cons:

Will only work to a certain extent, in my case, a few weeks

It's inexpensive and maybe if you have really light scarring this could help you, but otherwise it only works for a couple weeks and then you will not see any improvement beyond that. Also, I have not had any breakouts from it.

Pros:

Helped reduce redness temporarily but after a week or two the effects seemed to stop

Cons:

I know im stating the obvious but the product is very oily and can clog pores and cause breakouts, also can only be applied at home.

The product I used was from a local health store, the bottle was small and i went through two in around 2 and a half months. At first I was seing results, I would apply the oil after I'd showered in the evening, that way my face wouldn't be too oily by time i went to bed. After around a week and a half the positive effects got less noticeable and the redness was back. This product will not heal scars but simply make them appear reduced for a period of time. Overall it didnt work great for me, it may be worth a try for others. I certainly wouldnt recommend this until yur acne has cleared up due to the oilyness of the product. I will put the recommended at No due to personnel results but it may be worth a try for people out there who want the skin to look temporarily smoother and less red.

Pros:

fades burn marks

Cons:

irritated my face and made me break out

I mixed this with shea butter (shea butter works great for me) and decided to use it on my face and body. While this worked great on my body and faded burn marks that I had for over 25 years (I can hardly see them), this irritated my face. It made my face itchy and acne began to appear. When I stopped using the emu oil on my face, my face cleared up. I will continue to use it on my body though and highly recommend it for that.

Pros:

May help reduce scarring.

Cons:

Gave me acne, Has a weird smell, strange texture, Blocks Pores.

So I have heard that Emu Oil works wonders with scarring. I think it does. But it also blocks pores and gave me acne. The best way to use this product is with accutane or roaccutane. I am going to be put on roaccutane soon, so I will return and give a review while im on the medication. Until then : )

Pros:

Very moisturizing, no smell if you get a good brand, and all natural

Cons:

Too much makes you shiny/oily, and can clog poors

I first got emu oil 1 yr ago for a new tattoo, and decided to try using it on my face for a moisturizer instead of olive oil. At first I thought it was great because it's super moisturizing, it can make you look shiny, especially if you're prone to oily skin, but a little goes a long way. Unfortunately, I stopped using this about a month ago because I realized that not only were my breakouts getting worse and worse, but my pores have gotten larger and it seems something I was using was clogging my pores and hence leading to more breakouts. So, while I still love emu for being so moisturizing yet non-greasy, I just can't really use it on my face. Excellent for healing a new tat though.

Pros:

High in essential fatty acids, emu oil works incredibly well when applied to the skin. It is natural rather than synthetic oil thus it has everything our skin needs, naturally!

Cons:

100% pure rendered animal fat. Emus are relatives of the ostrich and look them. Emu oil is a by-product of the emu meat industry- the fat trimmed from the meat is ground and refined to make it a free-flowing oil rather than a coagulated fat.

100% Natural and does what it says! If you can get past the animal ethics issue. I can, Id rather have good skin, and since I eat meat, what amounts to smearing melted chicken fat on my face is not a problem. It made me curious to try emu meat at a restaurant that even had alligator on the menu, and it was ok. I got the oil to start treating wrinkles, and my skin sucks it up and feels moisturized all the time, so I've needed to use less. My wrinkles have improved! I put it on my kids' faces before going outside, it definitely keeps their little cheeks from getting windburn or chapped from the cold! Im really glad P.E.T.A. hasn't gotten a hold of the emu industry yet, and I hope they don't, I need my emu oil!

Pros:

Good moisturizer...

Cons:

Makes tiny red spots. itchy sometimes.
Didn't help my acne scar, but it moisturizes your skin, especially under my eyes.I think I developed blackheads using this product.

It not worked for me. I tried the Emu Oil for a few months.I occasionally experienced itchiness (my cheek area and forehead). It does moisturizes my skin well, but I also developed tiny red spots (and small zits), and blackheads. I didn't see any improvement for my scars and red spots. I don't really recommend people to use it. My skin is sensitive and combination of oily and dry skin.
