Pros:

Had three treatments a year and a half a go and the results were unbelievably fantastic

Cons:

Initial first break out after 1st treatment, plus dont suggest doing in lunch break as im pale skinned and was left red and slightly bruised for about half a day

I had the three treatments about a year and a half ago and the results were fantastic.I went to the clinic in Manchester the Private Clinic, after the treatment s i noticed such a fantastic difference in my skin, so much so that people constantly mentioned the clearness.I am considering having one or two top up treatments just to maintain the effects The cost may seem expensive but think how much you spend trying product after product at around £5 a time...that mounts up...try N Lite!!!!!

Pros:

It has reduced the severity of my acne. I'm not on anything internal. The pain is minimal as long as your dermatologist uses ice packs on the area prior to treatment.

Cons:

I still break out. It is expensive. I have not noticed a difference in my scarring.

I paid about $1,200 for six Smoothbeam treatments and six chemical peels. I go in every two weeks and alternate between the two. I've had five of the six Smoothbeam treatments (only on my chin as that is where my problem is). As long as the ice packs are used it is not painful. I can't tell a difference in my scarring and although I still break out I am not getting the deep painful cysts like before. I feel something developing and then a few days later the pimple is gone. Before I would have cysts that would last for weeks. I would only try this if you can afford it. This has not been a miracle cure for me but has helped me some.

I'm a doctor and I've used N-Lite laser for the past 18 months. I tell all my patients that it is impossible to determine the number of monthly treatments required because of the amount of the infection and the type of skin varies so much. Over the last 18 months I've achieved remarkable results and N-Lite is a great alternative to using drugs such as Roaccutane which had dreadful side effects. I can highly recommend this treatment which I emphasize can get worse before it gets better.

Pros:

none so far

Cons:

made acne worse

I have had three treatments, am suppose to have two more but am afraid my acne will get even worse. Would never do it over if I had the choice. Don't try accutane, I had two accutane treatments and the side affects are horrible and not worth it. It made my gums recede big time.

I had my first Nlite treatment today and am slightly alarmed. I was advised that the treatment would take 15 mins, but I was actually only on the table for 3 mins, at most! That seems like a very short period of time for a payment of £200! I questioned this and was told that the 15 mins they inform people about, actually inclues the chat they have with your prior to laying you down and putting the goggles on. Has anybody else, has good results, for such a short duration of time?! My next session is in 2 weeks time and I have to say that I am very dubious now! I will let you know how I get on.

Pros:

After six months of treatment, my skin was smoother, and certainly less oily. I was able to wear foundation, alone, and last all day.

Cons:

After treatments stopped the oil eventually returned. I have to admit that my beauty regimen was more consistent, though, when I was having monthly treatments.

Here I go, again. My skin is sensitive, so the pain is pretty intense. I need to be more generous with the Lidocaine before each session. After seeing the price others have paid, I am really grateful to my dermatologist for her reasonable fees. I buy a 4-treatment package for $240

Pros:

Completely got rid of acne on back, chest, and shoulders. Skin less oily. Its been almost 2 years since first treatment and the results have not changed.

Cons:

EXTREMELY expensive, still get some breakouts on face.

I got i think about 6 treatments or so on my back/chest/shoulders, approximately 1 month apart consecutively. I did not see results immediately but about a month after my last treatment, my acne was COMPLETELY gone. As for my face i had i think 5 treatments, 1 month apart consecutively, and had seen a big improvement at about the 6 month mark. Less oily skin, smaller pores, but still a few breakouts on my face. I take some meds for it now, which also help. I was told this was a hormonal problem. Overall, i'd say 100% improvement on my back, chest, and shoulders, and about 75% improvement on my face. There was very little pain for me, my doctor used a topical numbing cream and it worked great. Felt like little bee stings after that, except in areas of active acne which were a bit more sensitive. For the red spots afterwards, the doc put some kinda cream on and it took it away immediately. I left the office with no marks, redness, or pain. Was numb for a few hours! haha

Pros:

Quick?

Cons:

Expensive, slightly painful

I had my first treatment two weeks ago and have not seen any results. I instead have been breaking out even more. She concentrated on my chin since that is my "problem area" and that is where I am breaking out. And it is a pretty bad breakout too. But you "aren't suppose to see results until after your thrid treamtment" so I am keeping that in mind. I am hoping this is a treamtment where it "gets worse before it gets better." I will be sure to update after the second treamtent. I paid for three treatments and a chemical peel for $675. As far as pain goes, I applied the numbing cream ($50) an hour before, then a half hour before. This helped because it probably would be pretty painful without that. My doctor also used an icepack. The pain was no big deal if you have a tolerance for it. No changes where made in my skin - no extra redness, scarring, nothing. I look exactly the time, if not worse.

I can only give a very positive recommandation. N-Lite has made a huge difference and reduced my acne quite incredibly. It very much depends on the person and the type of acne (as with everything). Althought it did get worse at first (as they told me) just keep going for treatments - it will get better and better after a few treatments. I am very happy with the results and I can strongly recommend The Private Clinic. That's where I had my treatments. They are very professional and very friendly which helps a lot of you're nervous about the treatment.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
