Pros:

there were no pros!

Cons:

at the time my acne was not bad, once i had the procedure it made it much worse and caused me to break out severely with cystic acne (which i haven't had since junior high) it caused alot of emotional stress and I ended up having to go on accutane..

it was the worst thing i could have possibly done for my face- thanks to my dermatologist making this recommendation i have had the worst 3 months of my life- with terrible breakouts- nothing positive from this procedure- please do your research before you sign up- a total waste of my money and has caused much damage!

Pros:

reduced the look of some scars

Cons:

MADE MY ACNE WORSE BIG TIME!

smoothbeam did, in fact, make my acne much worse than what is was pre-smoothbeam. i've had three total smoothbeams done by an excellent, well-known dermatologist in my area. very disappointed. i am now looking forward to starting accutane and seeing some real results. my advice, if you want to get rid of active acne, is to go straight to accutane and ditch the smoothbeam, which is an experimental piece of crap. also, i wouldn't have another treatment done if they paid me to have one.

Pros:

Got rid of my Acne

Cons:

Small bruising that completely disappeared after a few days

Last week I had my last N-Lite treatment at The Private Clinic in London. N-Lite completely cleared my acne, and there is no scars or redness. I just can't believe the difference it has made. After my second/third treatment I've noticed immediate improvements.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Much worse, more scars now a year later because your skin is more delicate

I had this procedure done about a year ago and was a big waste of my money. It was almost 4k and my face is so much worse than before. Everyone says I should sue but you cant because they have you sign forms that protect them. Now my skin looks worse and on top of that now I Always have dark circles under my eyes which I never had. If you have scars dont do this. it makes it worse and if you have active acne dont do this because it makes it worse! Also if you have active acne and get this done you will have new scars on top of old ones because your skin is so so fragile after this procedure. Waste if your looking for a acne cure and or acne scar cure!! Please dont.

Pros:

Smoothed My Skin.. Got Rid Of Scars.. Reduced Break-Outs!

Cons:

Really Expensive.. =[

Well I'm 16. I've Suffered From Acne Since I Was About 10.. We At That Time Thought It Was Just A Phase And It Would Fade, 6 Years On It Was Just As Bad. Went Through Almost Every Bit Of Medication On The Market & That The Doctor Could Give Me. I Had REALLY Low Self-Estime =[ We Were Reading The Newspaper On Wednesday When Me And Mum Where Waiting In The Doctors Waiting Room. There Was An Add For The Laser Clinic! Instantly, We Thought This Was Something Different & That The Results They Showed Were Amazing! Now 2 Treatments And About 6 Months On, My Skin Is Greatly Improved And Getting better Everyday. Its Costly, But Can You Really Put A Price On Confidence?!!

Pros:

smooth looking

Cons:

severe redness itchiness

i had upper blephroplasy done as well as laser resurfacing under my lower eyes. i was so excited, but i am absolutely panicing now. its been a little over 2 weeks, and it is unbelievably red, and with all the negative things i seem to keep reading, it feels like it will never go away! has anyone out there had a good experience? and should i still be putting vasoline on it at day-17? and most importantly, does the redness ever go away? feeling so regretful!!!

Pros:

Works great. Reduces oiliness. Have had one small whitehead in four months

Cons:

Ouch! Red for a few hours afterwards.

If you want ZERO acne, this regimen works: 1. Smoothbeam laser treatment once a month 2. Cleanse twice a day using the Clarisonic Brush and a gentle sacilyic acid cleanser (I use Neutragena) 3. Get the Beauty Light (Red and Blue Light) and use 15 minutes per day. 4. drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet 5. Look at your beautiful skin every morning in order to resolve to continue doing 1 thru 4 above Good Luck!

Pros:

It works

Cons:

No cons, just some redness initially that disappeared after a few days.

Fantastic results. I've wasted so much time and money trying and buying many products (some as much as 20 pounds at time) that claimed to get rid of Acne. With N-Lite my Acne has disappeared and my life has totally changed. I had my treatments at the Private Clinic in London. Very professional.

Pros:

Completely got rid of acne on back, chest, and shoulders. Skin less oily. Its been almost 2 years since first treatment and the results have not changed.

Cons:

EXTREMELY expensive, still get some breakouts on face.

I got i think about 6 treatments or so on my back/chest/shoulders, approximately 1 month apart consecutively. I did not see results immediately but about a month after my last treatment, my acne was COMPLETELY gone. As for my face i had i think 5 treatments, 1 month apart consecutively, and had seen a big improvement at about the 6 month mark. Less oily skin, smaller pores, but still a few breakouts on my face. I take some meds for it now, which also help. I was told this was a hormonal problem. Overall, i'd say 100% improvement on my back, chest, and shoulders, and about 75% improvement on my face. There was very little pain for me, my doctor used a topical numbing cream and it worked great. Felt like little bee stings after that, except in areas of active acne which were a bit more sensitive. For the red spots afterwards, the doc put some kinda cream on and it took it away immediately. I left the office with no marks, redness, or pain. Was numb for a few hours! haha

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
