    Unusual Question About Water

I have a bit of a weird question, or story rather. I was on Accutane from January 2013 to July 2014 (40mg daily). After my treatment I was completely clear. Not a pimple in sight for months. Then in August of 2015 I moved into a house that gets its water from a pond in the yard. The water is filthy and no one in the home drinks it. When I let the water run, I noticed that the color is a dark yellow. I don't smell an odor in the water, but all of the water in the house is this color. Oddly, almos
  2. Hi Everyone. This is my first post on the forums. The question is concerned with my wife who is 27 years old. There is no history of pregnancy. She and her family never had any history of acne problems but about 3-4 months back she had a sudden breakout of acne on her cheeks. And since then it has not stopped. She has consulted 2 doctors till now and below is what the doctors suggested:1) She hits the gym everyday so the first guess was that may be a supplement like protein/multivitamin/BCAA(All GNC p

    Oratane 10 Mg Per Day

I have been visiting the derm since feb and started accutance on march ever since i started on Oratane , i drank around 6 litres of water everyday almost i think ? and been eating Lots of veggies like almost 4 days a week ? Im not sure if 10mg of oratane would help me in 2 months . But i definitely know that drinking water and lots of them would help . 2 months ago i will be really sad when i look at the mirror but now erm im pretty fine with it . no one is making fun of me anymore , I dun think
  4. Hello everyone! So I've been off of accutane for a month now and my face is starting to get oil again. This of course is giving me anxiety that my acne will come back. For the past month though, I've been doing little things here and there to prevent acne. During this month, I did not get a single pimple. I recently got a tiny one though (you can barely see it) on the side of my mouth, and I believe one is forming on my forehead. That being said, do you have any little secret that I am not doi
  5. I wanted to post here because I've battled with acne for over 10 years. I always wondered why my skin was breaking out. I tried accutane 8 years ago with great results, and it permanently got rid of some acne but most of it came back. A couple months ago, I drastically increased my water intake simply with a focus to be more healthy. I drink about 8 liters of water a day. I buy organic lemons and squeeze 1-2 lemons throughout the day and add it to my water. I started to eat less junkfood and go
  6. I am a 15 y/o male. About a year ago, my face started becoming a bit tight after my showers. I put a light Cetaphil moisturizer on, and it was fine for the rest of the day. Today, a year later, I cannot even splash my face with water without it feeling like a desert. The tightness in my face is nothing short of unbearable. This tightness is lessened if I moisturize, but it does not fully go away until hours later. Johns Hopkins Derm Dept could not diagnose a few months ago, but nothing has gotte
  7. Hey everyone! So it's been quite a while since I've been on here. Well I just took my last accutane pill tonight (5 months) and all I can say is that this has changed my life! My face is not perfect, but I have no problem confidence-wise. I would recommend it to anyone, as the worst side effect I had was probably the occasional back pain (since all of the glands dry up, your back isn't as flexible, so for example lying down caused some discomfort for the first 20 seconds but then went away).
  8. During my many years struggling with mild cystic acne and after seeing many different Dermatologists, who put me on many different medications (including Accutane), I discovered that I must be the one to resolve my acne. If I was ever going to manage my acne, I must be proactive and study my skin in order to understand my acne disease process. So I began reading all I could about the skin and what role it plays with the body. Then I systematically examined my skin, trying to figure out what w

    Water - All You Need

I believe the cause of my acne this whole time could be lack of water intake. I have been previously drinking roughly 4-5 bottles a day of water. Personally I viewed this as a lot of water. However I have been researching, and some acne suffers state that they cured their acne by increasing their water consumption. I have normal deep cystic acne. So far I have been drinking 8-10 bottles of water per day for the past 4 days and my skin is already clearing up. Additionally, I tested it by eat
  10. So I recently was in Shanghai for 5 months (for studies), which completely took away my acne! I had absolutely no, zero, pimples arriving for the last 2-3 of months. Two of my other friends who came with me there as well said it too, that their skin is better than ever. I've now been back in my home country in Europe for 3 weeks and the acne seems to be coming back as it was before... I've had constant acne for over 10 years and I've even tried isotretinoin antibiotics (didn't have long las

    Healthier Diet=More acne?

Hello! Foremost, I'd like to say that I have been combatting with light to moderate acne for years now. Recently, I have been eating healthier (it isn't that I have eaten unhealthy before, it is just I am cutting back on rice consumption, oily food intake, etc). However, it seems as if my skin gets worse when I eat more raw vegetables. Any deviation from my normal diet that I have had for my entire life, essentially (consistent home cooked, Indian food all my seventeen years of living), resul

    General Advice!

Hi all. I'm new here so forgive me if I'm not doing this right, ha! I'm 17 years old and have had acne for roughly about 3 years now. However, it has come and gone over the years. My acne has always been the same - always around the chin, and mouth. Literally everywhere else on my face is clear. I feel like I am doing everything in my power to have clear, nice skin. I work out, eat incredibly healthy, drink lot's and lot's of water, wash my face and moisturize morning and night and e
  13. I just joined this community because I wanted to share my story, and I hope I can help people with my information. My skin type: Olive-medium colored skin, oily, sensitive. My breakouts were on my forehead (after working out), cheeks, jaw line and sometimes reached down to my neck. They ranged from small pus pockets to cystic. I'm female, so they also did flare up even more before my menstrual cycle, so it could have been a hormonal thing as well. Not really sure. I've tried: P

    Water's For Squares

Hey guys, I've been lurking here for well over 6 months now and finally decided to post. Starting off, I've tried just about everything since the age of 13 when I first started breaking out: -ortho tricyclin -numerous antibiotics -some other acne pills I forgot the names of -tons of topicals including: epiduo, retin a, clyndamycin, adapalene, tretinoin (for chest + back), etc -proactiv, neutrogena, oxy, basically anything you can find in the store that claims to "work" After realizing
  15. Hi guys, it's my first time ever posting here so I am not sure if this is the right board to post this on but here we go: So three weeks ago I was on my way to my holiday abroad, during airport security my face wash (Cetaphil oily skin version) got thrown away as I wasn't allowed to take that much liquid in my hand baggage. I thought to myself meh okay why don't I try washing with only water for the next week and continue to apply my antibiotic topical (chlyndamycin lotion). I noticed that
  16. Hi, although i'm new to the forum i've been following for over a year and i've finally decided to post. My acne is mild most of the time though sometimes it can become pretty moderate for a period. I've managed to clear it before using a light cleanser and jojoba oil in the evening only but i'm always looking to simplify my regimen so i dont have to go to bed with oil all over my face and keep such a strict skincare regimen. My skin used to be really oily and i never used a moisturiser after
  17. Read this PLEASE. It's been a long road, and I feel like I can answer a lot of questions. I'll have a concise conclusion at the end, so don't worry about remembering everything I say that you need to do. The immune system is designed to keep things like viruses and foreign bacteria out of our system. Bacteria's getting in our system, so there's clearly a problem. To first answer the fiends that insist acne is from hormones and oil glands and which can't be changed, they can. You can balance horm
  18. So about 1.5 weeks ago I bought an ebook called "Annihilate Your Acne: The complete natural guide to consistently clear skin". It's $20 but it's one of the best $20 I've spent. Plus there's a money back guarantee if your acne doesn't clear up. So this book is absolutely amazing. I opened it and couldn't stop reading. It concentrates mostly on oil balances (omega 3 vs. 6) and antioxidants as well as pesticides. It goes through each food group and tells you what is appropriate for acne and
  19. So I have what I would consider moderate acne. Certainly not nearly as bad as some people have it, but I definitely have trouble skin. I also have mild to moderate eczema, usually mild. Been struggling with acne for about 4-5 years. Went vegan because of it 2 years ago and have been eating about 80-90% raw for the past 2 months or so. Although my skin has improved, it is far from perfect and I am quite insecure because of it. Recently I decided to do some grape fasting (went about 2 days, broke

    Current Obsession

My current obsession right now: As ridiculous as this may sound, it's been working for me and showed results almost immediately (2~3 days). ***I've been using filtered, drinking water to wash my face for the past few days, and currently I have zero breakouts...whereas usually I would definitely have a couple of explosions or mild cysts here and there. *** The reason why I started doing this was because I noticed that after moving downtown (for college), I've been experiencing a lot mor

  22. Milk Free Diet Cleared My Cystic Acne, And.... ... Eliminating Sugar and most High GI/GL (Glycemic Index/Glycemic Load) foods cleared the rest of my 'white heads'. This worked for me, and will work for you. What I have been able to learn and understand for the past several years is that each and every person is different, and everyone will need to find what works for them and them alone. No one can do it for you, but this will do more for you than you could ever imagine. If anyone wa
  23. Ok so I have realised that I am well under average when it comes to the amount of water I drink daily. Sometimes its about 0.25 litres and most days its none at all. Im tired most of the time and sleep a lot. So I thought I would give it a go to see how it can improve my skin and my lifestyle. I aim at drinking 2 Litres a day which averages at about 4 pints. Want to see if It can do anything for my dark circles, lip dryness, tiredness, general health and most importantly my skin.
  24. So I started the almost caveman-regime and have been improving constantly without any new breakouts over the week. I've been wondering why this treatment has been working...and I've come to a conclusion. It's my tap water. We have a water softener, but the tap water at my house still dries out my skin and hair. Doing research, I've found that many houses have terribly heavy-metal ridden tap-water and chlorine. The chlorine is necessary to keep the water clean, but must be filtered out via the ho

    Water Only Journey

Background: I've had acne for seven years. I got my first spot when I was 12, and now, I'm 19. When I first started getting acne, I should've let it be. Instead, I started using product after product. I tried all kinds of chemicals, natural remedies, and regimens. Nothing helped. I wore makeup for about a year, but makeup aggravated my acne. My face started getting very oily yet dry. My face also adopted a constant red complexion (not just cheeks and nose but entire face was red and the rest of
