  1. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid

  3. I am completely lost. My acne is absolutely killing me. None are cystic, but my cheeks and chin are covered in skin colour, and red pimples. I've also recently developed a patch around 1.5 cm in width, which is red, dry and hard, but is not painful. I'm not sure what it is. Also, I get a breakout the same day every week. I will wake up the next morning with whiteheads on my chin. I have sports on this day, but i don't sweat, and i can't recall touching my face more than i usually do, so i have
  4. Hey, I am a new acne.org member. I am in a dilemma of choosing an efficient and budget friendly sunscreen for my skin. Provided that I breakout easily and have super oily skin. Which of these is good?
  5. I'm 19. I eat healthy, rarely have sugar in my diet. I drink around two litres of water daily + 2 cups of green tea. My skin has never been this bad in my life. Not even going through puberty. I don't have cystic acne. But they're clusters of pimples, I would usually get them on my cheeks badly(still do) but now I have then all along my chin it's like a little trail. They're weepy after I squeeze them then they scab. I get about a 5cent peice diameter of redness around the pimple and it make
  6. So I’ve been taking a generic form of yaz birth control continuously (meaning I take only active pills to not get a period) for a few months, and my skin has been unbelievably clear after a long struggle. Recently I had to take an antibiotic for a UTI. The antibiotic interfered with my birth control and decreased its effectiveness, which I knew because I started bleeding and continued to bleed for almost a week and half. This was about three weeks ago. Since the antibiotic and the bleeding, I h

    Quitting Yaz After A Week

I've just started taking yaz about a week ago, but I've been getting some nasty side effects (cystic acne every where, severe nausea, depression, anxiety). I was wondering, since i"ve only taken it for about a week, will my acne return with vengeance once i get off it? i know people say to stick with it but i can't handle wanting to vomit at all times of the day and not being able to breathe. But I don't want more breakouts. I had pretty much clear skin with some minor breakouts, but the doc sub
  9. Hello guys, I am a 23 year old Male with oily/combination skin. Currently I have had a huge breakout on my chin with what is believed to be cyst. They start off as red, tender flat bumps, eventually get larger and form a whitehead. Generally my skin is pretty clear but I do get random breakouts like this on my chin maybe once a year or so. It started off as 1 bump, and it grew and looked like it had 2-3 smaller whiteheads on it. That eventually popped on its own with a little bit of my help once

    Acne not leaving

I had mild acne, so I was prescribed minocycline 100mg a day along with other home remedies. I have been doing this for 5 months and saw little improvement so my dose was increased to 200mg a day along with retin a. I exercise daily, no dairy, moisturize, change sheets every 3 days, plenty of water along with vitamin A and C supplements. My acne has seemed to be getting worse recently and I feel hopeless. Any ideas?

    Breakout 4 Years After Accutane

Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
  12. Hi all, I'm just over 4 months post accutane (second round, first was 15 yrs ago) I'm noticing a breakout....nothing major but a few new small spots each day. Is it normal to have a breakout after treatment? If it gets worse I can call the derm nurses who have said we can look at another course (I really hope that's the case and I won't have to go back to gp for a referral etc) just interested in people's opinions/experiences. I'm trying not to stress about it I feel that could make things worse
  13. i started ortho tri cyclen almost 3 months ago for my acne. i had taken yaz for years before with great results but had to switch after insurance issues. my skin has seemed to keep getting worse (a lot more deep pimples, mostly on my cheeks and around my mouth) since starting the OTC, but I don't know if that's the cause. I deal with dermatillomania so my skin also reflects how well I'm doing with the picking at the moment. Everyone says to give it time, but how long do I have to wait until I ca
  14. I'll start off with an update on my "progress", which is not good. I have developed three cysts on my face, one on my hairline (which is quite painful), one on the side of my nose and one on my eyebrow. Gah! I'm doing nothing different; I'm still taking antibiotics once a day, and using the benzoyl peroxide/retinoid gel, and taking the Pill. So I think I need to seriously consider seeing a dermatologist. The longer I leave it the more scars I accrue. I don't think this is the flare up from makeu
  15. Okay. I just need to vent a little here. I apologize in advance. WHY is my skin doing this? The initial clearing was absolutely a tease. There's this decently-sized red bump on my cheek and whiteheads on both my forehead and cheeks. This is so uncool. I have to admit that yes, my skin is getting less inflamed and these breakouts will heal like the rest, but goodness this is saddening. Especially without the aid of face makeup. I can't stop looking at my skin. Look at my photo

    December 14th 2016

So this is my first entry, and I think I should start with who I am. Maybe this will help you relate and maybe stuff that helps me will help you! So I'm a 21 year old girl with not too severe acne but enough acne to lower my self-esteem. My journey so far: I had baby skin throughout puberty. Like. My skin was epic. Beautiful. Made from the gods. Okay, maybe not that good but you get the picture. And then it slowly said "F you UnspoiledDude, F you!" and changed into this mess of a skin.
  17. Hello I’ve been using differin for 4 1/2 weeks now and my acne is terrible. I’ve attached pictures. Keep in mind I use to only have like 1-2 pimples here max. Should I quit differin?r
  18. I'm in university right now and I've suffered a lot of emotional hardship as I battled my acne. In highschool, I used a topical from a dermatologist and for a year or so, it worked until one day, I broke out TERRIBLY bad overnight. Everyday, I looked at people with clear skin (I still do) and wondered why my skin wasn't like them. Why my friends didn't go through what I did. What hurt me the most back then was when people teased me about how huge my pimples were or how red I looked. Acne really
  19. i am 17 years old and i have had acne since i was about 13 or 14. when i was 14 my acne got so bad to the point where my mom took me to a dermatologist and i was prescribed a gel with benzoyl peroxide and a face wash as well. that did nothing to my skin, in fact it made it worse so i stopped. when i was 16, i found the perfect routine and my skin was CLEAR for 5 months. i used african black soap and jojoba oil, and exfoliated with a mix of honey and brown sugar every week. in august, it wasn
  20. I just broke out badly after switching from Clean and Clear continuous control acne cleanser (10% BP cream) to Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. Two days ago I had 1 pimple on my chin and now i have 5, my forehead has also broken out badly(to many pimples to count!) Should I switch back to my old cleanser or just wait and see if this clears up? My old regimen Clean and Clear continuous control acne cleanser (10% BP cream) twice a day. Epiduo gel (2.5% BP and .1% adapalene) once at night after
  21. Hello. I have my skin care routine that works for me. My skin care routine includes neutrogena acne facial wash then epiduo then moisturizer and sunblock in the morning, and tretinoin 0.5% in the evening. However, my problem is the last time I transferred from home to my current apartment, I had severe breakout. Probably because the apartment had redecoration and all of my stuff are new. (Does these have effect on breakouts?) It took two years or so for my skin to clear up again. 2 months from

    Hormonal Acne Scars

I have a hormonal scars that are slighlty indented and i have been using Braggs undiluted organic APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. It seems to be making a difference! I have uploaded a photo. The one that has a circle is the indented one. If it works itd be a great cheap alternative! I just rub some on the scars with a q-tip at night. Sometimes multiple times a night. When u apply it the area will become red, but itll be gone by the morning
  23. Hi! I'm new to this forum but have occassionally came across with discussions here when searched other acne/skin problem related things from the net. I started jojoba oil to my regimen some 2/3 weeks ago. I read many articles where people have praised the oil and finally decided to give it a try since my then current regimen didn't really help with the forehead/large pore problem/oiliness. When my 3rd week of jojoba oil use started my forehead was a mess and is still (ofc). I stopped it 3 da
  24. hey, i recently change my Neutrogena oil free fps 15 moisturizer to Neutrogena oil free combination skin moisturizer cause the fps15 was too greasy. i also started using witch hazel for about a week. those 2 combined made my forehead even moire oily !! while the goal was to get it less oily. i only used those 2 new products on my forehead, i had a smallbreakout and i tought witch hazel would help it, oh boy i was wrong, made thing worse, broke out in tiny small pimples everywhere on
  25. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
