    Intro

Background: I am 33 years old and have been struggling with some form of acne for as long as I can remember. I have a family history of acne on both sides. My Mother's acne was a mild form and was cystic in nature, but well managed with birth control and antibiotics. She was/is beautiful and I really never noticed she had a problem. She said it finally subsided when she went through menopause. My Father is in his 60's and still has blackheads and enlarged pores on his nose and consistently
  2. Alternative Therapies for Acne

Inflammation is the immune system's way of repairing damage and fighting bacteria and viruses. Normally, inflammation is short-term and resolves itself once the threat is eliminated. However, ongoing inflammation is present with diseases such as acne. This is called chronic inflammation, which occurs when normal inflammation persists for months or years. Chronic inflammation can affect all parts of the body, such as in the case of arthritis, heart failure, diabetes, and dementia. In the case...
  3. hello hello, I have been reading these forums for YEARS and have just recently felt confident enough to share my own success with certain products. when I was 23 my chin exploded in painful red cysts that refused to dissipate. it was shit. after lots of research and blood tests it turns out that I, like tons of women, am estrogen dominant. I started acupuncture and taking supplements for my imbalance. After three months, I do not have any more cysts. This is what I take: Margarite pills (plum
  4. Feb 16 2012 update on what has been helping I have experimented with a lot of things.. The candida diet, zapping machines, water fasts, the frutarian diet etc.. What worked you ask? Am I clear yet? Well right now I am in ANOTHER water fast it is my 3rd day so far.. And guess what organ is detoxing once again? My SKIN.. So right at the moment I am not clear only one small pimple on the left side of my chin which is awesome. before the water fast was I clear? Yes I was not perfect but nothing a
  5. I've been reading up on the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They use herbs to treat your acne from the inside, and you have little to no side effects from them. I've also heard that acupuncture really helps. I wanted to go to a holistic doctor because all the dermatologists just prescribe me epiduo and antibiotics that make my skin fall off. Has anyone had any luck with acupuncture or Chinese medicine?
  6. Hey everyone! So, like many of the users on this forum, I am fed up with Retin-A, Accutane, birth control, etc being forced upon me, and doctors saying that "These are the only cures". After a lot of research, I have decided to start getting acupuncture for my possibly hormonal acne. Do you think it will work? I've heard of a number of people curing their acne from acupuncture. I will keep you guys all updated on the progress! Hopefully it works for me, and I can recommend it to you all!
  7. I need advice... I am 22. I started to taking Yasmin for mild acne when I was 16 - the results were amazing. Within weeks my acne completely cleared. Since, I have been on and off the pill for various reasons (mostly because I became lazy and forgot to fill a new script when I ran out). Consequently, I had acne on and off as my body adjusted to coming on and off the pill. About year ago I developed severe acne again after about 3 months after coming off the pill - this time it was terrible cy
  8. I started doing acupuncture for my acne on my face about 2 months ago, and have been going once a week since then. My acupuncturist believes my acne is hormonal and is why the ointments and antibiotics haven't helped it much and only suppress or hide them temporarily. I stopped taking them a month ago and my face has really reddened and broken out, to the point I constantly worried about how it looks. I haven't seen much change in my face for the better, but I have noticed that my overall mood a
  9. Hey guys, I'm new to acne.org. I've been reading a lot of good stuff about other people's remedies to acne. I've been having acne for 5 years and its pretty bad. Still on-going. I have a regiment which is sorta working (started a two weeks ago?). Has anyone tried acupuncture for their acne? It's an asian thing, and I'm asian descent. Parents asked me if I should do it. There are before and after pictures from the doctors who practice it, but its quite expensive and these things are not c
