Pros:

very effective, cheap, and easy.

Cons:

can make you ill.

When I first started using this, it was a miracle. After awhile, my acne was becoming as bad as it previously was so I decided to up the dosage. It`s nine months after I started taking it, and I`m now showing alot of the symptoms of having too much zinc. I took 100 milligrams (not including whatever is in my multivitamin) when you really should only take 45. I have no energy, my heart beats so fast I feel like I might die, I have dizzy spells, and it may have caused an iron deficiency. However, if you don`t over do it it`s definitely worth using. Although it did cause a great decrease in my acne, I`ve continued using it and it all came back. Now, if I skip taking it a day I break out. When I lower my dosage, I`ll probably break out badly.

Pros:

I'm 25 and I've had bad skin since I was 16. I'd long given up trying to cure the problem, but I started taking multivitamins (A to Zinc) and noticed a HUGE improvement in my skin. Its never been so clear.

Cons:

Skin is a little dry

I started with multivitamins and realised it must have been the zinc content (as little as 5mg) that was doing the trick. I've recently complemented them with 15mg zinc tablets. I think those who are taking 25+ - esp. like 100mg - are taking too much.

Pros:

Works very well. I have only been using for about a week, but so far have had great results. Started out at 50mg/day. I increased to 100mg a few days ago and it made a huge difference.

Cons:

None so far. Hope it stays that way!!

I've been dealing with acne for about 13 years and have seriously tried everything. Accutane was the only thing that worked really well, but I'm sure as many of you know, about a month after stopping it the pimples come right back (usually in full force). It's also something I don't want to keep putting in my system. The first few days of taking the zinc were actually quite comparable to taking accutane (very dry, itchy skin). So, if you're looking for a great, cheap alternative, I'd suggest zinc. I wish I'd found this years ago.

Pros:

Cheap, effective, works very fast!

Cons:

Must take with a full meal or you will want to vomit, yuk!

I started 50 mg of zinc a week ago and I have seen an improvement! I already do the Dan's Regemin, but the zinc on top of it is amazing. I have both chelated zinc and the gluconate zinc, not sure what the difference is, but my friend who is a nurse said chelated zinc breaks down easier.

Pros:

I take one 50mg caplet right before bed because it makes me feel sick. When I wake up my face is not red anymore, I'm loving that. It's
helped.

Cons:

Just that it makes me feel sick

I wish I knew about this before.

Pros:

100 mg/day clears up my acne. 75mg a day maintains pretty well. I've been using it regularly for 20+ years starting at age 32. I've noticed no negative side effects, except nausea when taken on an empty stomach. Best taken right after dinner.

The only thing I've tried that works consistently, and quickly.

Pros:

Within one week a lifetime of dealing with acne was finally gone. My skin was smooth and my complexion was rosy.Even hands were very soft. Zinc and Vit C lozenges...yummy fruit flavored, generic brand 100 tabs 7.99CDN

Cons:

After a week caused slight nausea and tummy upset.

I am 50 years old and the zince finally gave me a period of time totally acne free. Dr showed concern in taking the zinc long time because of its retention and sideeffects (depletes copper?) so I cut back and guess what? Acne came back. I am on the regimen again and already the active acne is clearing up. I have tried everything on the market, otc and prescription and nothing worked. I'm staying with the zinc.

Pros:

My skin is so much better. I've been taking it for two weeks, and my skin is not flawless, but I no longer feel embarrassed by it. I would get cysts almost daily, and now I only have two small papules.

Cons:

It initially made my skin very dry and flakey. That's improved with time. It is hard on my stomach, making me nauseous. I always try to take it with quite a bit of food, and then I don't have a problem.

I'm 36 and went back to school a couple of years ago. I've always had some light breakouts, but since I started school and my stress level increased, my skin became a lot worse. I would get cysts and considered going to a dermatologist, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle. I noticed that when my stress level was the highest that my skin would get really oily, almost like a waxy coating. I quit eating dairy, and that led to some improvement. I started taking zinc, and things felt smoother right away. Initially, my skin felt better and I broke out in places that I never had before, but I think things were clearing out. It's been really amazing what an improvement it has been! I take two zinc lozenges a day. Each has 23 mg of zinc, from gluconate, amino acid chelate, and zinc oxide. Each also has 100 mg vitamin C. The formula is intended for colds. I also wash my face with an SA soap and use a sulfur resorcinal topical. It worked for me and it

Pros:

Wow, I've seen a huge difference after using this for about a week! Started with 50mg then after a week moved down to 25. It does induce slight nausea, but it's worth bearing. Finally something effective rather than BP. Hormonal acne no more.

Cons:

nausea, dizziness, discomfort when at 50mg doses at morning and night. Basically toxic dose but it's very effective against hormonal acne!

I believe this must balance hormones well. I've come to conclusion that I have hormonal acne and attacking with topicals isn't going to get me very far. I decided to try supplements. I've tried fish oil [no results], B5 [very drying but works ok], vitamin e [for scar healing and am still using it] and finally zinc [the cure]. I'm very impressed with what I'm seeing every time I look in the mirror. Zinc may be a cure for some people. I had quite severe acne. My cheeks, my forehead and chin were covered. Now only scars remain but they're fading quite quickly. I was becoming depressed before using Zinc due to no successful treatment options. Have tried everything including online pills designed for acne fighting such as Acneticin. If you haven't tried Zinc yet DO IT NOW! What do you have to lose? It's worth it. Go buy yourself 50mg of Chelated Zinc.
