Pros:

cooling sensation
reduces inflammation
does not dry out skin

Cons:

none

i use this 2 times a day after my shower and of course before my lotion. it works great and does not smell bad. others have complained about the scent but it does not bother me. i just pour a small amount onto a cotton ball and then wipe it across my face. if i have a pimple which i have popped i pour a small amount of tea tree oil with the witch hazel and hold it there for about a min. this in turn helps the healing process and also dries out the pimple faster and brings any other junk that may be left inside the pimple out.

Pros:

Cheap, easy to use, economical, natural

Cons:

the smell, can't use alone

This is a wonderful toner for those looking for a natural solution to their acne. I use the Dickinson brand and it helps in balancing out the moisture level and easing the redness and irritation. I put this with a few drops of 100% tea tree oil on a cotton pad and use it twice a day as a toner and it has helped improved my skin texture. No other products (from the expensive name brand infomercial gimmicks, to the popular drugstore names) have helped as much as this. I found that switching from harsh chemicals and fragrances to all/mostly natural have helped the overall appearance of my skin, as well as the acne problem. My 3 main products include: - Face Wash: Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash - Toner: Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil - Moisturizer: DeLuxe 100% Pure Shea Butter

Pros:

Helped remove any excess makeup that was left over from washing. Skin feels very clean, and soft. Acne has shrunk about 50% in one day of using.

Cons:

none

Get this product! after years of trying different acne products and medications (proactiv, clinique, neutrogena, clean and clear, dr. brandt.) and having them damage my sensitive skin severely this is the one product that works with no problems. The smell is no worse than any other acne medication or acne product. It goes away when it dries and is completely worth it.

Pros:

Effective, natural, and inexpensive.

Cons:

None thus far

I love witch hazel. I have been using Dickinson's "Nothing But Clean Facial Toner" that contains mostly witch hazel but includes aloe vera, chamomile, and other soothing, all-natural ingredients. I have heard that plain witch hazel smells kind of weird, but it seems these added ingredients give it a decent smell. I have fairly mild acne that has persisted for 9 years, and I have finally found the right combination of products to control my complexion. Of those products, witch hazel is indispensable. It makes my skin smooth and appears to be helping with the prevention of breakouts. It's no miracle product, but it's the best toner I've ever used (I've tried dozens, including the Proactiv line).

Used 3 days breaking out bad but it get worst before better
Ok so to start of two years i was pregnant my skin was the best I ever it had ever been i never could go with out wearing makeup due to my scars but being pregnant I actually could go with out it was a great feeling, also my eating habits definitely change to be more healthy . After having my child my skin started to go back to having acne but it was manageable, once I got on b.c my skin definitely didn't adjust to the changes an it seems to be getting worst. I Google natural ways to heal and prevent acne and first thing popped up was witch hazel went out and got it that night and was so excited to try it. I also purchased hair skin and nail vitamins along with zinc. I've been taking the vitamins twice a day and using witch hazel once in the morning after I wash my face, once before I put my makeup on as a toner and two times at night. I believe my skin is purging because both my cheeks and chin is filled with white heads and painful pimples under the skin. I also am detoxing my body with lemon water and after this container of ice cream is gone I will be going on a no sugar (sweets ) diet to shock my body into being healthy again. I have notice many pimples that haven't come to a head before me using witch hazel are having a head and other ones are forming certain parts of my face and in some areas it hurts. On my of off days Sunday through Wednesday I will be going with out makeup completely. I have my notice my skin softer and smooth as of right now my skin is going through that awkward stage of healing I seen oils also help such a tea tree oil which tonight I'm buy for scaring also along with vitamin e helps when you bust open the gel to move scaring and eucalyptus to open the pores to help remove the infection from the acne and lavender to calm the skin will be my next purchase I am hoping in a few weeks my skin will bounce back I may also get prenantals just to help with my skin and why not lol. I also think I'm ask my doctor for another birth control to help with the extra levels of estrogen never got a refill from the one I was prescribe before but it did clear my skin up a bit last time I used it. I think drinking more soda then water and always having a sweet tooth has definitely took a toll on my body and your body(skin mostly face) will tell you when it needs sonething or to stop something. Hopefully in a few weeks I can give another review or edit this one, to help anyone that may have the same skin symptoms i do. Acne sucks makes anyone who has it badly feel insecure I hate being around my fiance without makeup he tells me he loves me with out makeup but it's hard to believe him when majority of your face is filled with little pores filled with dirt, puss and infection. I tell him all the time that as long as he finds me attractive and beautiful who cares even though I really do. Good luck to you all I though when you got older it got better lol

Pros:

Doesn't dry out my skin
No fumes burning my eyes
Cheap

Cons:

The smell upsets my stomach.

Just started using it and noticed a difference after a few days, redness went down and fewer blackheads. I was using rubbing alcohol before and the fumes burnt my eyes and nose and it dried out my skin. But this it a lot better besides the smell. Best thing I got at the dollar store.

Pros:

It reduces redness
reduces size of pimples overnight
dries up the pimples/lessen the appearance
relieves the pain of cystic acne

Cons:

Will not erase all of your pimples
Can be a little drying for sensitive skin

I used it for 5 days now and my acne is WAY better. i was actually a bit skeptic before i used it. because the smell was strong (but nice) and some reviews say that it did absolutely nothing to their acne. i bought Humphrey's maravilla lotion because i couldnt find any other witch hazel extract in the store. I use cotton ball and apply it like a toner.--->It works really well!!<---- Though, i think i'd use it every other day. I think you should only use this product if you really have serious breakouts. otherwise, it may irritate your skin. *When it comes to products like this, your skin can get too comfortable with it at first but in the end, its effects on your next break outs won't be as good as the first time. so yeah, just use it when necessary and don't soak up your face with it! Less is always more.
