Pros:

Only have to take a couple pills a day, fast and noticeable results.

Cons:

Not the easiest pill to swallow and can leave a bad taste in your mouth and throat

I have tried other prescription treatments and Bactrim worked wonders for my acne (face and back). Along with a good face washing routine and some simple otc face cream (I used persa-gel) I noticed results in about a week, and my face was just about pimple and outbreak free after 3 weeks.

Cons:

Had an Allergic Reaction to the drug

Something like 20% of people are allergic to this drug if I remember what my derm told me, I happen to be in that group and suffered an allergic reaction to septra/bactrim

Pros:

non yet..

Cons:

no sign of improvement, in fact its worsened..

ive been taking this medication for about a week now and after reading all the reviews i was really excited to finally see my cystic acne go away . over the past week ive broken out more then ever and just hope its somewhat like accutane where it worsens at first but all the reviews are described at immediate results. if anyone knows whether it will get better or im just wasting my time and making my acne worse please let me know..

Pros:

i tried doxycyline, erythromycin, 2 courses accutane...this works the best. i use it with differin and clindamycin 1%

Cons:

still a few pimples occasionally...

it works, not the first line for acne treatment, but much better than the typical treatments!! may be more difficult to get your derm to prescribe it.

Pros:

cleared up face to an extent (blackheads, 1-2 whiteheads, around 3-4 really bad breakouts during the year)

Cons:

long-term problems (liver)
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE breakouts once you're off!!!

if you're willing to risk your longterm health for clear skin that won't last, take it!!

Pros:

Cleared up my skin which has mild everything: white heads, black heads, cysts, etc.

Cons:

Not sure of it's safety long term, and you HAVE to be consistent

I took Bactrim DS twice a day for six years and my skin looked perfect! Maybe a small pimple once a week or month, but nothing major. I definitely noticed if I missed even one pill I'd break out every time though. I decided to stop because I was worried about being on it too long and I'm breaking out like crazy. :( Oh well, guess my time for clear skin is up!

Pros:

Worked for me!

Had been on two or three other antibiotics previously with little to no improvement. Was very mild on my stomach, although my sister almost threw up when she was perscribed it!

Pros:

It clears up my skim pretty well. I still get a few pimples here and there, but the meds do kick my break outs in the butt.

Cons:

If you stop taking this med the break outs will worsen. Its a med you have to keep up on.

It works!

Pros:

I've tried EVERYTHING to clear up my acne on my back, chest, and face and nothing has worked but this. And it works VERY well while you take it. I experienced no negative side effects that i know of.

Cons:

Only works while you take it. Doesn't permanantly get rid of your acne. When you stop taking it, you break out BAD. But I've been taking it for six months and haven't experienced anything bad so as long as I keep taking it I'm good!

It works very well. I highly recommend it!

Pros:

Seemed to get acne under control.

Cons:

Broke out in hives

I had been on it a couple of weeks and noticed great improvement. Then I broke out in hives on my hands and arms. I had to discontinue. It's too bad...
