Pros:

It cleared me up!

Cons:

I'm just worried about what will happen when I get off. Hoepfully I can talk my derm into letting me stay on it long term.

If my derm lets me stay on it long term then it's great...otherwise I'm pretty sure the acne will come back once I get off.

Pros:

Had acne problems throughout highschool (15-18). Tried topical stuff with no luck. went to tetracycline and some other antibiotics with little success. Started taking bactrim; my acne cleared up 100%. Along with retin A most scarring has disappeared

Cons:

any antibiotic for a period of time is bad for you. I didnt have any negative side effects (i have stomach problems but not sure if its from antibiotics or not).
Was a miracle drug for me

I stopped taking it yesterday to see if (hopefully) my acne has naturally stopped occuring. im 20; if it starts coming back I will go right back on it. I still wash my face twice a day with Cetaphil and apply retinA at night to stop scarring. If antibiotics like tetracycline aren't working for you and you don't want to step up to Accutane try this stuff out - it works great

Pros:

Seemed to start helping in the first couple weeks.

Cons:

Allergic reaction, broke out even worse when I had to stop taking it.

After about a week and a half, this made me break out in hives over my entire body and it gave me a fever. After two days of not taking it, the hives started to go away. And now that I'm off of it, I'm breaking out worse than before. I've also heard that it can cause life-threatening allergic reactions, so pay attention to side effects!

Pros:

the only thing that was worked for me.

Cons:

have to get lab work done.

my doc put me on differin, klaron, aminocin, and tazorac. the only medicine that worked for me is bactrim. i have to get lab work done every three months because i guess for some people it can lower your blood count (mine was always normal). it got rid of my cysts (i still have a couple once in awhile) and ive gotten so many compliments on my face. i have to take it 2 times a day but its worth it!

Pros:

None found.

Cons:

Gives you rash if you are allergic.

Turns out I am allergic to this stuff. After about 9 days of taking it I started to get a rash. sent to E.R and given benadryl and tagamet. Hopefully this stuff will clear the rash, but I know when I had an allergic reaction to minocycline, benadryl was not enough.

Pros:

I have adult cystic acne, and it cleared most of the larger cysts within about a week.

Cons:

Horrible allergic reaction!! I wish I could still use this product, but after only 2 and a half weeks of use I had a really really bad reaction. Fever, chills, couldn't breathe, extreme itching...just plain bad.

It's a wonderful product, if you aren't allergic.

Pros:

It cleared up the acne in just a few weeks. I took it for a year, two pills a day for first 6 mos, and then 1 pill a day. Had NO acne while taking. Had no side effects. Very mild skin dryness -- nothing compared to Accutane.

Cons:

My acne did come back several months after I stopped. My doc told me 5% of patients are allergic. It's a popular antibiotic used with staph infections -- not good if your body's built up a tolerance (after a year or so).

It's the best I've taken, among a long list of acne medications. I never experienced crazy hangovers. just don't take it that night if you're drinking. It's cheap with insurance.

Pros:

CHEAP
WORKS LIKE MAGIC
EASY TO USE

Cons:

NOTHING, EXCEPT FOR REMEMBERING TO TAKE IT 2 TIMES A DAY.

I have been on Septra for a couple months now. Since I have been taking septra 2 times a day, I have not had any breakouts-what so ever! This stuff is THE BEST!

Good Stuff
Bactrim is the only antibiotic that got my skin back to almost clear in about 2 months. After 2 weeks of taking the medication, I stopped getting any underground pimples and only some superficial whiteheads every once in a while. It gave me no side effects and I luckily did not have an allergic reaction to it (which is something you really need to look out for when on this medication). I am weening off of it now that I started Isotretenoin about 20 days ago (1 pill a day) and I am really glad I had this in my system when starting accutane because my IB was very manageable. However, contrary to reviews I read on here, it took about 3-4 weeks to fully work for me rather than a week like some people have experienced. I would also like to mention that minocycline and doxycycline failed for me, so this was a real miracle worker in my eyes because other antibiotics made my acne worse it seemed.
