Pros:

HELPS!! A great medication tht ACTUALLY works. 2-3 days of using this medicine I see results my acne has dried up and my skin is cleared. highly recommend you use this!

Cons:

So far NONE.

This is a very effective product it kills the bacteria in your system which causes severe pimples. I occasionally get one or two but those are now cleared up as well :)

Pros:

Gets rid of most of my cystic acne

Cons:

Doesn't always work, but best thing other than accutane which i don't want to take.

Works well, especially when used with a topical routine, but for me did not always get rid of all my cystic acne, nor did it always prevent new acne from flaring up. I used it about a year ago with good results, cycling on and off. Did not use it at all last year - tried to manage w/ just topical. Florida heat/humidity plus stress of exams put me over the top and went back on it a month ago. Works well, but not necessarily good to use antibiotics long term. May try accutane, but do not want to risk its side effects if I can help it.

Pros:

Simple, just take a pill to fight acne.

Cons:

Possible dangerous side effects from using an antibiotic long-term.

Took Doryx for face acne for several months with moderate success, but then it stopped working. Dermatologist switched me to Bactrim. Saw results after around week 2 and face became much clearer. But after week 3, I developed flu symptoms -- fatigue, aches, nausea, chills, fever, loss of appetite. A few days later the fever and chills went away but my urine was unusually dark. Finally realized it might not be the flu, but a reaction to Bactrim. Stopped taking it and contacted my dermatologist and primary care physician. Blood work shows abnormal readings about my liver, but hopefully I'm on the mend. I've never been allergic to an antibiotic before, but also never taken one for so long. Bottom line: Bactrim works fine for some people, but pay close attention to the possible side effects and notify your doctor right away if you have them -- don't take chances that what you think is just a flu is really your liver telling you to stop!

Pros:

Seems to be working well to clear most of my acne along with the use of Yaz

Cons:

I have been using it for 2 months and I still get 2-3 large hormonal cysts during my period even though I am using this along with Yaz

It seems to work well for most of the people that have posted on this blog, it has its good days and its bad days for me. I am going to go on Accutane in a couple of months to be completely clear though because this, along with everything else that I have tried, is still not able to clear up the cystic acnes(?) that I get during my period, which leave extremely visible dark spots and scars. The oil level on my face has not changed either. I have always had quite a lot of oil on my face and this does not lessen it. Not that it's supposed to, but just saying. For people with mild acne this should be great.

Pros:

improved the quality of my skin. it feels so much softer. definitely cleared up my skin. worked right away on chest acne.

Cons:

took FOREVER to work. normally i see results after 3 weeks, and then i'm clear after a month or so. I've been on for about a month and a half and i'm just getting really clear. the pills are huge. i have to take them with apple sauce or yogurt.

It works after a while.

Pros:

Seems to work very QUICKLY on moderate-severe cystic (in my case) acne.

Cons:

Derms don't like to prescribe it for extended periods of time because of the negative effects it can have on your body. That being said, I never experienced any side effects while on it.

I've done it all - Minocycline, Doxycycline, Tetracycline, Bactrim, Accutane (3 rounds), Prednisone, Yaz, and am currently taking Spironolactone. After each round of Accutane, my skin would be completely clear for 6-10 months, but eventually, my cystic acne would come back. *Cue any and all other antibiotics.* However, none of the 'cyclines' worked as well as Bactrim did for me. After 2-3 months, my skin looked amazing, but my derm wouldn't refill it-claiming it could have bad side effects on my kidneys/liver (can't remember which). So, I let a few months pass, some of which I barely left my house because my skin was so bad. Finally saw a new derm...now giving Spironolactone a try.

Pros:

Works very well for the first 4 months for me. I was waking up every morning and did not have to pop any zits for the first time in years, was a great feeling, after the th month starting breaking out again...who knows if this is the answer.

Cons:

Not a guarantee, but works better than not using it!

try it its better than doxy, tetra, or mini...too scared to g on accutane and dont like getting blood work every month for it!

Pros:

took this for an ear infection and my face completely cleared up...now i just use benzoyl peroxide and ziana to maintain my clear face.

Cons:

none

i think this could jump start acne treatment/get rid of the bacterial infection. just make sure you use creams to keep your face clear afterward.
