Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Good for acne.

Cons:

Smell, but you get used to it.

I like tea tree oil, is good for my skin, my skin looks smoother and also dries up my pimples. I wish I had found out long time ago.

Pros:

Natural
Works without a lot of irritation
Very cheap

Cons:

Works very slowly
I needed to use benxoyl peroxide sometimes in conjunction to speed up process. This combonation worked good because if I use only benzoyl peroxide my face gets irritated and my pores clog up with dead skin and I break out more

The key to this product working is to make sure you put it on morning and night. It is an antiseptic so if you constantly have an antiseptic barrier on your face the p acne bacterias will not have a chance to grow.

Pros:

Great for killing the acne causing bacteria and preventing future acne, can't go without it, great clean feeling after use

Cons:

makes old scars darker with every use, very drying to the skin, burns but worth it

I currently use with 100% black soap, 100% tea tree oil as astrigent/toner, and then moisturize with unrefined shea butter. Have been using this for only a week and my breakouts have stopped significantly. The tea tree oil is the absolute best astrigent for ance prone and oily skin, moisturize afterwards and you will reap the benefits.

Pros:

natural alternative to harsh on-the-spot treatments, works quickly, can apply it under makeup

Cons:

REALLY dries out the skin if you over apply. i've had some really nasty peeling, but i blame myself for those times, not the oil

this stuff is great. it's "oil" but it does wonders for drying out pimples. you only need a little bit, but if you keep applying "a little bit" for several days or more than once a day, your skin will probably peel. but i especially love this stuff because you can wear it under your makeup. if i wake up with a pimple and i don't want it to get any bigger, i dab a bit of this stuff on, let it dry for a minute or two, and apply my makeup. it's really great.

Pros:

Dries up acne quickly (within a a few hours or day for me, depending on size) Natural

Cons:

My dad in constantly nagging about the smell, but it doesn't bother me too much. It's very herbal smelling. Don't get it anywhere near your eyes... even the vapors can burn them!

This stuff is wonderful! I love it. I used BP and it worked somewhat, but not as quickly as TTO! Also, I can put as much on without worrying about if my skin is going to get burned. If I have a REALLY troubled spot, I take a tiny bit of tissue and drop tea tree oil on it, then place it on the spot. My skin can handle the concentration, some people's may not. FABULOUS STUFF!!!!!!

Pros:

WORKS SO WELL

Cons:

errrr..................

aaaaaaaaaaaah i love love love pure teaa tree oil. I only have very mild acne....(it used to be mild - moderate, but I am on Trimethoprim tablets from my Doctor, and DUAC GEL which is amazing and I swear by it... I dread to think what my skin would be like without it. So at the moment I have oily skin and a couple of zits every few days but thanks to tea tree oil, I have none at the moment! I put it on my cheek area (where I break out most) every night, and it seems to stop zits forming and I haven't (touch wood) had ANYYY zits at all for 2 weeks now! It's amazing. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Pros:

Has taken the redness and selling down from cystic acne flare-ups.

Cons:

None. I like the strong scent!

I break out from absolutely everything, and freak out when I hear the word "oil" (tea tree oil) for my face! I was desperate and searching for something new and this has been great in only 2 days! I've applied it about 5/day w/great results! I always have some form of acne, buth thankfully cystic acne flareups are rare these days (I'm 40), but VERY common in my 20's and 30's. I've tried accutane, retin A,sulficetimide (sp?), climdimycin, aczone, every OTC med for acne, etc. I never would have believed tea tree oil would make a difference, but it has...I wish I tried this crap sooner :) I had large painful cysts next to my nose and on my smile line AND one on my chin (huge one)...I apllied this stuff for the last couple days and ALL of them are much smaller and the redness is almost gone. It stung at first, but went away fast!

Pros:

It's not harsh, works quickly, doesn't dry out your skin or make it oily.

Cons:

None =)

I bought this product about 5 days ago & have been applying it 2-3 times a day everyday & oh my gosh... it works so well. I applied it the first night I got it & when I washed my face the next morning my face was far less bumpy & didn't look as oily throughout the day (my face can get really oily so that was awesome). The next day there was hardly any pimples at all & the ones that were there were smaller & less red. I got the tea tree oil gel because I heard that pure tea tree oil can be sort of harsh on your skin but I haven't tried it. When I get pimples they just won't fade but with tea tree oil even the pimples I had for at least a month are decreasing in size literally over night. Benzoyl peroxide felt really harsh on my face & made it red & kind of itchy but this is so mild & works so well. Sure the smell is strong but I don't mind it & I think it's worth it because the results are fantastic. Tea tree oil is awesome.

Pros:

works fast and great

Cons:

smell strong but you get used to it

I have always had a little acne but now after having my 2nd child I started breaking out ALL OVER my face. cheeks forehead exspecially jaw line.. All I do is rub it on straight out of the bottle all over my face and watch the magic run its coarse! I have had it in my cupboard for awhile and forgot about it. Last night I discovered it and tried the new approach of all over the face instead of just spot treatment like I normally did. This morning all my pimples are smaller and all of the redness is almost all gone!!! * bucks walmart get iT!
