Cons:

Messes with your homones
Will destroy your skin coming off

I was put on Yaz after I first got my period because it was completely irregular. I don't know why I was put on Yaz and not a standard BCP, but anyway. My skin never had any problems before I started Yaz, and I didn't have any issues when I was on it (for about 4 years). Then I decided, after reading about dangerous side-effects of Yaz, and having experienced some scary symptoms of blood clots in my legs, I wanted to get off Yaz and onto a normal BCP, that didn't mess with my hormones. After I switched off Yaz, I had a SEVERE hormonal breakout. I had clear skin before and during Yaz, with one or two regular pimples, but not real acne. After going off Yaz I started growing hair along my jawline, and I had serious cystic acne on my chin, jawline and neck. SEVERE. It was the most painful and horrible experience of my life. Being 19 and breaking out with intense cystic acne. Horrible. I got tested for PCOS and I don't have it - YAZ had artificially controlled my hormones when I was on it, and going off, I was left with hormonal acne. I didn't want to go near Yaz again, and have been trying to deal with my acne ever since. 9 months since going off Yaz and I am just clearing up, however I now have intense hyperpigmentation all over my chin/jawline/neck. Please, if you are considering going on BCP that helps acne, please don't. They have some seriously dangerous side-effects, and when you want to go off them it will destroy your hormones and skin. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you are considering taking BCP for acne PLEASE DON'T. I hope I can save someone from the same experience I had.

Pros:

For me, Gained weight (was needed)

Cons:

Smelly periods/ Strange discharge after period til next one
SEVERE Migraines
Very bad acne: Everywhere
Bad cramps
Something changed down in vaginal area (PAP-test came back "un-normal"

This is not a product that I would tell any of my girl friends to use. It's the worst BC that was made and yet the doctors just give it to us without know the side effects that could happen. Doctors need to look into the BC's that they give us, so we can be sure that we're not harming ourselves and harming our insides, that may cause problems of conceiving a baby!!

Pros:

Boobs grew significantly
Had shorter, lighter, regular periods

Cons:

Gained weight

When I first started on birth control a couple years ago, I was taking the generic Lutera which did not really have any affect on my acne. When my prescription ran out about a year later, I told my provider that I was really interested in trying Yaz for its supposed acne relieving benefits. I have been using it since January, and unfortunately I haven't really seen a change with it either. I am still going to stick with it, but in the mean time I'm using Proactiv as well. Hopefully something will work for me one of these days. Oh, and if you are looking for a birth control pill that will give you giant boobs, then this is the one to take haha. Also, I recieved a year-long prescription for Yaz free through Planned Parenthood.

Pros:

Clear Skin
Shorter Periods
Less Menstrual Cramps

Cons:

Increased Appetite Leading to +7 lbs of Weight

Other than a little weight gain (and I've always been a big eater, so this could have also just have been my own bad habits), I didn't experience any negative side effects from this drug - no nausea, moodiness, depression, etc. ...something I was not expecting as I've read so many horror stories. The pill cleared up my skin after about 2 months, and worked it's wonders for about 3 years... and then... It almost seemed to stop working. The last 6 months have been awful - deep, big pimples all over my cheeks, near my mouth, and jaw - this kind of acne tends to leave scars, of which I have many now. My periods are also completely out of whack. I've been told that my hormones might just be going through changes (I'm 26), and therefore Yaz just doesn't work the same way. I've decided to give Diane-35 a chance before I try Accutane.

Pros:

none

Cons:

Gave me chronic cystic acne

I never had probelm skin in high school, but my gynecologist prescribed Yaz to take temporarily for some menstrual issues I was having. While I was on the pill my skin was amazing. I'd never had problem skin, but now it was glowing. After my periods were on track again I went off the pill, and within 2 or 3 months I started getting these red bumps randomly on my face. The problem got worse and worse until I had full blown cystic acne. I've been on dermotolgist recommended antibiotics, used every topical cream you can imagine, tried home remedies, cut out sugar, dairy, gluten, etc. Nothing ever helps permanently. This has been such a nightmare. It is now 6 1/2 years later and I'm still dealing with this issue. Yaz completely threw my hormones out of balance. It doesn't have this effect on everyone, but many have complained of similar experiences. I do not recommend Yaz for anyone!! Taking B5 supplements is the only thing that has shown any kind of lasting improvement. Look it up, do some research before going on Yaz.

Pros:

It got rid of the acne

Cons:

It caused menstrual bleeding 3 of 4 weeks of the month

Used it for 6 months and got off of it because I would rather have acne than spot almost all the time. The fact that I was bleeding so much I figured it was screwing me up internally.

Pros:

Does clears acne

Cons:

Nausea
Fatigue
Serious mood swings
Vision is affected, feels high pressure on my eyes
Skin darkened

First day on Yaz, I felt sleepy all day, so I drank 3 coffees and didn't eat much food, my eyes felt tired and couldn't see things as clear as I used to. It was a sunday, I just thought maybe i slept too much. Second day on Yaz, started to feel dizzy, was having trouble concentrating. Had no apetite, wanted to vomit when smelling food, light headaches kicked in along with the high pressured eyes. Walked into Pharmacy for advice, pharmacist suggested to keep on taking it, they might go away. Day 3 Slept from 2am to 11am, woke up with light pain in my legs, felt like I had a night out in my high heels or something. Tired, but overall feeling ok. Changed my mind, and took another pill. Then all the side effects showed up again around 3pm. Didn't fade untill late night that day. Day 4 Eyes were feeling better, pressure went down, didn't take any pills, had a bad headache from 4pm to bed time, but ate a lot of food. Mood swing has gone, was still feeling bit tired. Day 5, woke up at 6am ( 7 hours sleep), light headache, overall, no more fatigue nausea vomit feelings, mood swing gone, eyes are good to look at computer screen. The commercial of this pill made me happy, I thought, wow, finally, I can eliminate mood swings and depression with this pills to treat my acne, when previous pills was making me depressed. I wouldn't be happily to continue if I could tolerate those side effects, afterall I have been tolerating them for 4 or 5 years. But with Yaz, those side effects were just too much. I've decided to come off the pills totally, yes, ance might come back, but I'm willing to try alternatives rather than messing up with my hormones.

Pros:

Shorter, lighter periods
Acne cleared up drastically
Relieved moodiness around period
Virtually no cramping

Cons:

Bigger breasts, unwanted

I know all women are different, but boy, my OB/GYN did well! I'm going into my fifth month on YAZ. The first two months were horrible, breakouts every day. But halfway through month three, almost overnight, my acne faded and faded. My skin used to EXPLODE at that time of the month; I would be miserable, and my cramps were unbearable. After Differin, Ziana, and OTC products had failed, my doctor finally recommended the Pill. Now, although I do break out around my period, it's one thousand times less severe. I would strongly recommend this Pill. But here's a warning, give it time! At least three months. Also, if you're a forgetful person it might not be the best option. But, here's the bottom line for me: I love me some YAZ!

Pros:

cleared up skin! -no weight gain, no mood swings, short & light periods, regulated periods, no pregnancies

Cons:

a little breast soreness. price( but it's worth it in my opinion)

I had mild acne before going on the pill but nothing too bad, just a few pimples right before my period. My gyno put me on ortho lo, and kariva which both gave me awful cystic acne around my jaw line. i still have scars! I have been on yaz for 3 months now and i love, love, love it! I have only had a few tiny breakouts but no cystic pimples. ( i am also taking spironolactone prescribed by my dermatologist but didn't notice a huge difference until i started taking yaz)
