Pros:

affordable with insurance and can be taken with out water

Cons:

spotting, intense hormonal fluctuation, intense facial break-out

DO NOT use this product if you have problems with acne. My mild acne turned into severe acne within ONE WEEK of using this. I was horrified and looked up the reviews on this site. One after the other described my symptoms of large lumpy cystic skin on the jawline that was never previously there. I tossed my pills out and within 2 days my skin because 50% better. But I now have mild-moderate acne that needs three other prescriptions to fix the irritation of this product. It triggered a flare up. Please trust these reviews, thank god I did or else I would be locked in my room with a bag over my head!

Pros:

Great for clearing up mild cases of acne and if you don't plan on having kids for the next couple of years.

Cons:

I was on YAZ since I was 16, until now at 21 when I decided to quit. I have not gotten my period for a year now (big, big problem and have had to go to the gyno to get Provera to make me have my period). If you plan on having kids, don't take this.

If I would have known all the problems that YAZ was going to cause me from years of usage I would have told my gyno to shove it when I was 16. It helped clear my teenage acne but only because it was mild. There are better options out there (I recommend Benzoclin or Clean and Clear 5% Benzol Peroxide) in combination with over the counter hair-and-skin vitamin supplements. YAZ also gave me respiratory problems and what felt like minor heart attacks. I spent countless hours and too much money trying to figure out what was wrong with me and why it was so difficult to walk up a flight of stairs when little did I know it was the birth control I was taking! I've been off of it for 11 months now, no period (now my doctor is questioning if I can ever have kids now) and I suffered from a mild case of depression when I first got off of it. DO NOT TAKE IT.

Pros:

- Reduced oil
- Enlarged breasts
- No babies

Cons:

- Hard to remember to take them at the same time everyday (I'm usually 5 - 30 min. off all the time)

I don't know how much this did for my acne.. Because I actually have been breaking out around my mouth and chin lately. I went on Yaz because I was on Accutane, my skin cleared so well.. But it was the Accutane not the Yaz that did it.. Sooo I'm going to have to say that the only real nice thing about this is that it made my skin produce much less oils! Which is great. No harm in trying this out for your acne. But birth control pills are especially for hormonal acne..

Pros:

I've had no side effects and don't even feel like I'm on a pill. Haven't been bloaded and acne has subsided. In addition, no weight gain.

Cons:

Don't have any to report.

I am close to 40 and started horomonal breakouts. My dermo gave me minocycline among other tetracyclines and it didn't really seem to produce results. It got very frusterating so my gyn put me on Yaz and I've been on it for almost 2 cycles. She said give it 3 months to get into your system but already my acne has subsided. Life is good for now! Let's hope it continues!

Pros:

Gave me perfect glowing skin, didn't get pregnant, had regular periods

Cons:

Almost completely removed my sex life, affected my personality, lost my competitiveness, lost my passion and creativity

Many women don't know that birth control can affect their sex drive. Women on birth control tend to report lower libidos than those not using birth control. The effect on me was extreme. While on yaz, I hated having sex, it was a chore to me. Within two months of being off yaz, I was an animal. My sex drive is easily a 10 and my husband can't keep up with me! We enjoy an amazing sex life because I'm not on the pill anymore. Also, I have my personality and passion back. I will never go back. If you don't mind becoming a humdrum, middle of the road personality type that doesn't want to have sex in order to get clear skin, take it. If you don't want your personality to change, find another acne solution.

Pros:

No more acne, controlled period, pregnancy prevention

Cons:

Stronger cramps before my period, vaginal dryness <- really sucks!,

Naturally it took my body a couple of months to completely adjust to the pills. With that my face cleared up, my period lasted 3-4 days. But I also got more painful cramps and I got so emotional about a week before my period. But the worst thing of all is the vaginal dryness, it got so bad i couldn't even have sex. And I'm 23 so that shouldn't be happening to me! So I stopped taking it, it's been 2 weeks now and my face is starting to break out again and I'm not dry anymore down there.

Pros:

Cleared up skin completely. Skin softer, less oily. Mood swings regulated. Increased breast size.

Cons:

Slight water weight but nothing too bad. Mood swings worsened first few weeks. Spotting.

I went on YAZ as part of the regimin to begin Accutane, and after 3 weeks on the pill, I went to the derm to start my treatment and I had no acne whatsoever! Yaz completely healed my cystic breakouts, which at this point appears to have been completely hormonal. I hear different things about YAZ, and my friend went on it and it did nothing for her, so I think its really hit or miss with whether or not it will work for you. It probably depends on what caused your acne in the first place, but if it appears to be hormonal (around the chin area and worse around your cycle) then its definately worth a try. I hear it may take up to 3 months to completely heal, but again its better than going on tane. I am so glad I went on YAZ because the side effects are WAY less than Accutane, and it had some extra benefits such a larger breast size and softer, less oily skin.

Pros:

cleared up my acne (and I've tried everything under the sun...including Accutane), decreased hunger the week before my period

Cons:

If I take it at anytime that it not exactly consistent then it throws off my cycle dramatically.

Great pill but you have to be very diligent about the same time taking it everyday.

Pros:

Birth control, yay! Seems to be clearing up my breakouts. Sleeping better at night?

Cons:

None that are a direct result of this pill.

I've only been taking Yaz for a week but my cheek and chin breakouts have virtually disappeared! I used to wake up with new spots every day. Even my redness has subsided. I have anxiety attacks often and I am on edge a few hours after I take the pill - but I haven't had any bad reactions thus far and even my anxiety is lessening because of it. I take the pill in the afternoon every day so I can keep myself preoccupied, busy, and nausealess. The only complaint I have is that I get very sleepy a few hours after I take the pill (might not even be Yaz's fault though). I'm going to stick with it as I don't think any of these terrifying side effects I've read about will manifest in me if they haven't already. I'll keep you updated :)
