YAZ : Oral Contraceptive

bottom line, yes i would recommend this. its a good overall contraceptive, it controlled my acne when i first tried it. my only complaint is the results i got after going off it for a while. im back on it now hoping to go back to"before"

I have tried everything out there including roaccutane (accutane) and this was the only thing that really worked for me. I actually began to think I no longer got acne and didn't have to even be strict about washing my face. However the severity of the migraines mean that I can no longer take it. As soon as I stopped taking it my acne came back and I am now back to trying more products : (

I used Yaz for about 1.5years and had no problems, except within a year my hair started to thin. That is my only con with this birth control. Other then this side effect I loved Yaz. Ive been on various other pills and I certainly like this one the best. Ortho Tricyclen and OTL made me feel bloated and made me feel "blah". I did trial going off the pill, I went off Yaz for 4 months because of the hairloss and bloated up like you wouldnt believe. Then I trialed a few different other pills, OT and OTL, Alesse, ortho cept, yasmin. None of which I really liked. Yaz was the best for my mood and maintaining my weight, and have decided to go back on it and hopefully with no hair loss this time around. Wish me luck. Other wise I will be making a trip to my derm to get his recommendation. I currently on Spironolactalone which in combination with the pill is keeping my acne very minimal.

Had been on a cheap bc pill standard 20 milligrams for 4 years. Doc offered me this to help with acne that won't clear up not terrible but very oily clogged skin and moods. Was awesome for the first few months skin cleared up massively and then it got overly dry my hair was really dry as well. Hair started falling out alot more than normal I waited it out for about 6 months and then decided to go back on my other pill. The hair loss hasn't really stopped. There are many things that could have caused the hairloss but I really think that it was such a coincidence and with the other sde effects it really seems likely it was this. Sad because I had so much hair now less than half as thick and I'm only in my early twenties..

I went on Yaz so that I could take Accutane. Needless to say, I decided not to go on Accutane, but stayed on Yaz for a little over a year. Other than the cellulite and the bout of anxiety towards the beginning, it was great. It started clearing up my acne in the first 2 months. And kept clearing it up. It did start to plateau towards the end. I stopped taking it because I kept forgetting to take it, just in the last couple weeks, and my prescription and health insurance ran out. Otherwise, I'd still be on it.

This product is a great BC and it has improved my face greatly. I used to get cysts on a regular basis, and now I only get one once in a great while. I am happy they make a generic, but would pay full price for it if I had to. Will never switch BC!

I have been on Yaz (recently switched to the generic Gianvi in october) for a little over a year. I always had moderate acne on my forehead and t-zone area. It cleared up most of the acne very well. Of course its not perfect, but there was definitely a big improvement. My boobs also grew a whole size (B to a C). I have not become pregnant. On the other hand, the mood swings and breakdowns for me are really bad. I actually feel bad for my boyfriend, who has to put up with this. I will get mad over the littlest things. Sometimes I am sad for no reason at all. I cry and get anxious and start freaking out for no reason. It's as if someone is taking over my body and I have no control over it. I know the mood swings are from Yaz because I have never experienced these occurrences before starting the pill. Also, within the last three weeks I have had this strange feeling in my left lower leg, as if there is no circulation going to it. 2 days out of the week I am on my feet for 8 hrs, but once again, before starting Yaz, I ran cross country, track, and I danced for 15 yrs of my life and have never experienced this sort of feeling. My sex drive has also decreased drastically and it is much harder to "get in the mood" . I am 19 yrs old and I don't want to be having these problems so young. I am going to make an appointment to try to switch to another pill.

I started on Yaz to clear up my cystic acne. When I started I had 10 cysts on my chin alone. By the end of the first pack all the cysts had gone! I have gone up a bra cup size, which I didn't want... but the pros of taking Yaz far outweigh the cons for me!

Birth control pills should take 3-4 months to kick in, but my skin is already clearing up and I'm only on my third week! I'm taking this for PCOS, so the acne part was just a benefit - my skin is mostly very red around the cheeks and nose (highly sensitive skin, ruled out rosacea), with a few bumps here and there. Now, it's a lot less red and those bumps that wouldn't go away FINALLY have heads so I pretty much popped those. My skin isn't as clear as I'd want it yet, but I am happy with it after such a short period of time! Oh, I did have a breakout-y thing in the second week, where my skin was PARTICULARLY ruddy and bumpy. So that was pretty awful, but now it's much more manageable. And I do think my sex drive is down, I'm feeling very....asexual these days, although I do love my boyfriend.

The first 2 1/2 months of use were very rough and painful (constant severe cramps and bleeding) but after I finally adjusted it has been great. My acne isn't gone but it is much better, I didn't gain weight like I have with other pills, periods are now only about 3 days long with occasional light spotting the week before (not a big deal to me) and most importantly to me, my cramps are almost completely gone, which is the reason why I am taking this in the first place. I also love that if I miss one, I can take two at a time without getting naseous like I have with other pills. I definitely think it is worth trying. If you don't like it at first, please keep in mind that it takes your body a few cycles to adjust to the medication properly.
