Diane-35 : Oral Contraceptive

I was prescribed Diane-35 for PCOS - primarily excess facial hair. I am finding the side effects too much to bother continuing - and its scary to think of the other more serious side effects like major depression and DVT. I am also concerned what happens when I eventually come off it. What's the point in going through all this if it is only temporarily camouflaging, not solving the hair problem? I am too impatient to wait the 4-6 months to see if it lessens the excess hair, and I certainly don't want to be taking the pill for the rest of my life. Does laser hair removal actually work - is it permanent? I would rather spend the money on this.

If you want the pros then this is the product for you but you have to weigh it up with the cons and work out whats important.

I tried other medications & they had worse side effects on me. so i guess it's the best of the worst to use. & use it if u really need it & see what side effects u get cz it differs from one woman to another. As for me, i really wish i could give up this med but it's kinda not appropriate for me.

This pill worked wonders while I was on it. I have been suffering with acne since I was 14 but while I was on Diane I barely ever had break-outs. Back in the spring I was told that the price of these pills had gone up when I went to fill a prescription, so I decided to go off the pill, just to give myself a break. The first few months after stopping it were fine. It's now about six months later and I am dealing with acne that is far worse than anything I have ever experienced (lots of cystic acne). I've noticed in previous posts that some girls who use the drug as an acne therapy are concerned about what will happen once they stop using Diane. If it's been working for you and you decide to stop using it, PLEASE talk to your doctor about other acne therapy options. I wish I had of talked to someone before my skin got this bad - I'm considering going back on Diane just so the breakouts will stop, but that seems like a poor solution since I can't stay on it forever...

I have only been on Diane 35 for 3 weeks and i have already noticed a drastic difference in my skin. It has definatley decreased the amount of oil produced on my face. its been a life saver!

I just finished 1 package (21 days) and my skin is clear, brighter and people have actually commented. I did start to break out towards the end, but it too is clearing. I plan on continuing for at least 2 more packages which I have already bought. I did not get mood swings, loss of sex drive, or significant hair loss. Also, I started on the first day of my period. I think it does actually make a difference when you start. 17 years old

I took Diane 35 for nearly a year. During that time I had severe mood swings and fights with my boyfriend. I used to cry all the time for no reason. Although my skin got clearer, the first 2 months I was on it my skin was worse than it had ever been and the zits I had during those months left permanent scares. After breaking up with my boyfriend (yes, it got that bad), I quit the pill and I have never been so happy. I will never go back on this product ever - even though I do miss the clear skin. There must be another solution out there?

I have only used this for a couple of weeks and so far its not too bad. The mood swings are a little much and a lot of people around me have noticed that too!

The doctor says I have to give it a real go... like 6 months plus. I have PCOS and suffer from slight facial hair on the chin and upper lip... from some of the reviews I have read Diane has reportedly made facial hear dissapear completely. I was just wondering if electrolysis/laser treatments were also required as I have also read that the drug only stops further hair growth. Once hair growth is in a certain area it is irreversible?

IM CALLING MY DOCTOR TOMMORROW AND DISCUSSING IT WITH HIM because the last few days since ive started this pill have been BAD mood swings and really depressed and down.
