Diane-35 : Oral Contraceptive

I am 18 years old. I am 5 feet 1 inch tall. I started taking diane 35 about a year and a half ago (so around june 2006..) I took it because I had light acne and I hate having acne. It took about 2 months for my acne to clear up, but it has also made me gain a lot of weight. I used to weigh 102 pounds and I now weigh 120 pounds, so I gained 8kg. Because of that I stopped taking it a few months ago, but a month and a half after I stopped taking it my acne came back, but it was very light. I started taking it again because I can't stand having acne. But I just read something about the risks about diane 35 that I wanted to share. I am going to stop taking it right now. I used to have perfectly clear skin, until 3 years ago when suddenly I found myself suffering from a severe form of acne. It turned out to be a result of hormonal imbalance, so my doctor prescribed Diane35. I used them for 2 years, and my skin was perfect again, so perfect that I forgot I had ever had acne. I haven't been using Diane for 8 months now. Two months ago I started breaking out in acne before my period, and although there are only 3-4 and are far less severe than the ones I used to have, I'm going back on Diane35 this month. While using the pill I didn't gain weight, although my breasts were somewhat larger and more tender. After having used the pill for 2 years I started having headaches before my period, and that was the main reason why I quit taking them.

so far i have only been using diane-35 for 1.5 months. my skin has been the clearest on this treatment during the seven day break from the medication. i have used proactive treatment and it worked wonderfully. however, i stopped using it because i have heard about the harmful long term effects of benzoyl peroxide. i began using arbonne clear advantage. bad idea. i did not have cystic acne before using the clear advantage 3 step system. i used it for a month and my acne developed so horribly i refused to use it any longer. now i am not sure if i didn't wait it out long enough or if i reacted to the products. i have started using proactive again along with diane-35. so far i have not noticed any major improvements but i will stick it out. the first month i did experience more cysts and more frequent break outs than i have during the second month. hopefully i can rid myself of this stubborn cystic acne.

It's simply great for people who have acne. Im 32 and visited an endocrinologist since I had these huge acne only on my right cheek. So painful that I couldnt chew!!! Never had acne in my teens. The tests came back positive for slightly high androgen levels, an ultra sound revealed a slightly enlarged ovary- possibly the cause of the elevated androgen levels. I've been on Diane for 2 weeks now and girls- IT WORKS! But obviously its going to work only for those who have a hormone imbalance and not recommended for all.

Diane 35 only works wit some people. not all people can have the same reactions. my friend who is also on the same pill doesnt experience the side effects i have and her acne has cleared enormously..unlike mine which has only cleared a bit..

It cleared up my skin & kept it under control for the 6 years I took it. I decided to get off after I got married and it's been just over a year, and my acne is coming back. However, I refuse to go back on Diane 35. I feel very fortunate to not have experienced any of the serious health risks/potential side effects during the time I took it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll find a more natural, safe & lasting solution.

i love using it and i will continue using it

I'm not taking it anymore because I'm afraid of becoming more depressed, infertile and hopeless. I recommend it only in the most dire of acne cases. It should not be used as a contraceptive alone. yes if you have a painful case of acne no if you want to clear up light acne or use as a contraceptive.

pretty good i guess, first birth contrl i've used so nothing to compare it to. but no apparent negative side effects so far

On it for 7 mths but came off because I was experiencing side effects the worst being that it makes yo sorta pshycho, like anxious nervous just depressed all the time. The first 4mths my acne was worse than it had ever been in my life but then it just calmed downed to what it was before started Diane35?? Hmmmm?? Anyways no good for me where acne is concerned but were all different I spose??
