Pros:

Nothing.

Cons:

Severe migraines, nausea, vomiting...

I was on this for a week before I had to give up and stop taking it. The fact it was supposed to clear up my skin was insane to trade for feeling soooo sick. I have tried other pills, and this one has by far had the worst side effects for me.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin, makes skin really soft

Cons:

The usual side effects of BCPs: bad mood swings, a little weight gain, extra sensitive to everything

I have been on birth control pills for over two years now. For most of that time, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen which worked wonders for my skin at first but seemed to lose its effect with time. I'm a third year college student and I had a horrendous breakout right as school started up, so I went to my doctor and was prescribed Diane 35. I must say, within the first month of use, I've noticed a world of difference. My skin's about 70% clearer and improving day by day. People on this site seem to bash this pill for its side effects, but you'd experience these no matter what oral contraceptive you're taking. I highly recommend this for girls combatting acne.

Pros:

Clear skin, regular/light & short periods, less pain, overall i've lost weight,

Cons:

Migrains, no sex drive,

I suffered really bad acne all over my body, including my back, chest, shoulders, neck and face. So i started using Diane about 2 1/2 years ago. It took a few months, but it worked great. I was so impressed on how my skin improved. But about a month ago, it seems like my face is started to flare up again. It seems like it stopped working. I don't know why. Maybe i've been on it too long and my body has adapted to it or maybe the regimen has changed?

Pros:

Birth control, clear skin

Cons:

Depression, mood swings including extreme anger. Increased PMS, total loss of libido

As a mum in her 30's I was sick of zits and my Dr suggested I try Diane-35. The first 6 months were great, clear skin, no noticible mood changes. Then my moods and depression got worse each month. I went off it and I couldn't believe how my moods and my sex drive improved. BUT...by the 3rd month I was back to zits big time. I had 2 packs left so I have gone back on it...halfway thru first pack and my moods are terrible...waiting for the zits to go. I will go back to the Dr to find something else.

Did not work for me honestly
Hi, I just went off the diane 35 pill while on my 6th pack, therefore my during my 6th month of it because it did not work for me at all. I feel compelled to write this review as while on it i read on here it may take 3-4 months to start working (I am not saying this isnt true) which is what motivated me to be so patient with it to eventually see if it did start working! On the diane 35 pill i would noticed my skin would clear up and then breakout again, this was a vicious cycle that continued for the entirety of the pill, I believe this was because my body couldnt balance with the strong hormons from the pill. Nearing the end I was giving it final chances, ie if it didnt break out horribly again, which of course it did, I also noticed that my skin was actually extremely worse than when i started the pill. I've quit the pill for almost a month now and my skin's condition has increased increadibly, I am approaching my first period since quitting and have only developed 3-4 pimples. I am not on any medication currently the only changes I have made is using a niaminicide serum every morning and a retinoid every other day & I have reduced my diary intake significantly but I cannot comment on that effectiveness yet Backround about me: 2-3 years ago I was on doxycycline for 6 months + contraception pills and topical creams which didnt help much, so i was classified as having severe cystic acne. I then did a course of roacctuane which kept my skin pimple free for a bit over a year, when I started getting pimples again is when i went on diane (6 months ago). Acne runs in my family, my father and his brothers/sisters have had acne into their 30/40s so I am determined to seek a cure !! :)

Breaking Out Badly!
Ok so, I've just gone back on Diane 35 after having a 7 month break and I'm currently on my second pack and my skin is psycho!! However, thankfully people are talking about this because I actually didn't know that it got worse before it got better. I started Diane when I was in school around 17 years old for acne, but I don't remember my skin getting worse before it got better. However, I'm now 27 so I probably don't even remember that far back or took much notice anyway. But Diane never really cleared my skin completely like it did a lot of other people. I still got some pretty bad skin only on my chin/mouth area, but it was bad enough that I was put on Accutane twice, even though I was on Diane and it had already kicked in. However, my skin eventually broke out after both Accutane treatments (one when I was 18, the other when I was 19), which led me to believe that there is no cure for my acne, the only thing I can do is manage it. So I thought what could I do do get rid of these crappy break outs I keep getting as Diane only took the edge off. Well, I started using Proactiv, and I have to say it worked a treat. Combining Diane with Proactiv was like a god send, and I didn't get 1 hint of a pimple in like 4 years. Then I got all cocky and forgot what it was like to have bad skin, so I stopped using both. Anyway, I've had shocking skin for the past 2 years now because I was mis-diagnosed with 'perioral dermatitis' instead of adult acne which meant I couldn't just go on proactiv again, no skincare at all. Then I was thinking what if the pill made me get dermatitis?? But long story short I never had dermatitis, I had acne all along and Diane helped, but stopping Proactiv was the wrong thing to do. So there you have it. I've now been using Proactiv + for a while and love it. It can't stop those horrible hormonal acnes from coming up but it does help a lot. And the only reason my skin is so horrible now is because I've just started Diane again and thankfully have read other peoples experiences and realised that it's because of Diane that I am breaking out. I"m hoping once it kicks in and combining the pill's benefits to Proactiv that I'm already using, my skin should go back to its former glory. The key is to use a formula like Proactiv that has a small dose of BP, but that is a light exfoliator to get off the dead skin cells and get down into the dermis and clean it out, preventing potential pimples. Also, Salicylic acid helps a lot, and the new Proactiv formula has that in its moisteriser. I just wish I could fast forward time and bypass this whole crazy break out period from Diane!!!

Didn't work.

Pros:

it does clear up abit

Cons:

migrains
pimples still there

I started using Dianne to get rid of my hormone pimples that wouldn't leave my chin area. I took the pill for about 6 months and unfortunately it didn't work for me. The pimples lessoned but were still there and I had to stop taking it when I started getting migraines ( which my doctor said was most likely from the pill) When I stopped taking Dianne my migrains/ head aches stopped. Everyone is different though. Give it a go. It might work for you.

Pros:

-Bigger breasts

Cons:

-Extreme uncontrollable mood swings
-Breakthrough bleeding

I have only been on this pill for about two weeks but I am alreayd having problems with it, I don't want to stop it because I really want to give a fighting chance on clearing up my skin but in the past two weeks I have been having extreme uncontrollable mood swings along with constant crying (which I can say with complete honesty that I only do about three times a year) I would not recommend starting this pill because it literally makes you crazy, the only good thing is that I have already noticed my breasts getting quite a bit larger in just the two weeks, which I would gladly give up to have my regular moods back!

Pros:

Acne cysts disappeared.
Blackheads diminished significantly.
No menstrual breakouts.
Oily skin diminished.

Cons:

Mood Swings
Fatigue
Mood Swings/Depressive moments
Spider veins
Leg tingling
Increased yeast infection risk

I've done differin gel, retin-a cream, antibiotics, proactiv, you name it. Diane-35 is my acne wonder drug. Whenever I'm on it my face looks great and my skin isn't excessively oily like a slice of pizza. Only when I'm on the pill does my skin normally respond to a good face regime like the benzoyl peroxide and salycic acid washes from brands like Neutrogena and Clean & Clear. Otherwise, it's a losing battle just using a facial topical regime alone. HOWEVER, due to the side effects of spider veins and leg circulation issues, it's not something I can use for more than the recommended 6mth time otherwise the side effects get worse. That disappoints me because within a few mths of stopping the pill my face breaks out HORRIBLY. I've been searching forever for a more natural way to battle acne, but until that comes along, Diane-35 is really my go to drug for good skin. Just remember to still keep that face clean and limit your sugar intake. Doesn't help the face.
