Worked for me

Pros:

No acne
Facial hair loss
No clots or cramps during period

Cons:

Weight gain when coming off it

I was on Diane 35 since I was 17 (am 35 now). I was put on it due to acne and also a little of hair on face. It definitely worked for that as I have always been commented on my great skin and having had acne problems since. The hair on face decreased. I used to suffer from lots of clots during my period since I first got them but in this pill that stopped. I didn't have any issues with hair loss on my head and my moods were always good (eg didn't ever have PMS and no cramping either.) I went off Diane 35 in January this year after I heard of the deaths and health risks after being in it do long. I went to my GP and whilst she wasn't concerned as I was we changed me over to Levlen. After two months on that I had to go off it as it turned me into a complete bitch (my poor husband!) and I was always depressed and crying. In the end we decided it was best for my health to go off all pills and just be careful. Finally after 6 months my body feels like its back in balance. A us was my periods were regular from the start and this hasn't changed. The only negative of going off the pill is that I have put on a good 10kg. Not good as I have been trying to lose weight so that we can start for a family. I have been eating healthy and better than when on the pill. Not sure why this is happening, the only thing I can put if down to is my hormones are still not in balance. I have had my thyroid checked twice as well as general check up and blood tests for other possible causes. Nothing wrong there at all. We have decided to start for a baby now as being 35 turning 36 this year and after being on the pill so long, we don't want to wait any longer before trying. Fingers crossed it doesn't take long!

Pros:

- clears up acne
- skin and scalp less oily
- can choose to skip the sugar pills
- cheapish
- you need to go off it when trying to get pregnant and when pregnant
- acne comes back when you go off it, in as little as a week

Cons:

- you have to remember to take it every day (not a problem for me though)
- initially takes a while to work completely (about 3 + months)
- causes mood swings and depression in some women (not me)

a pretty good solution if you have oily skin, but not so good for the long term. If you've tried everything, try this, though.

Pros:

Clearer skin all over, skin less oily

Cons:

Price is expensive, frequent headaches

I have been using diane 35 for 4 months and my skins is clearer than it's been in a long time. After 3 months my skin was still pretty bad so I was skeptical but after the 4th month my skin is clear but still has acne scars, my back and chest are perfectly clear but i get occasional pimples on my face but not as bad as before

Pros:

no major side effects (ie. weight gain, nausea, headaches or water retention)

Cons:

acne is way worse

I do not recommend this pill. I have only been taking this pill for about three weeks and it has made my acne worse than ever before. I feel very mislead by my doctor because she described this pill to me as being a miracle cure for my acne and did mention any side effects. The type of acne that i'm receiving from this pill is different than what i had before. My skin is much more sensitive and becomes red very easily. The pimples that I'm getting are more like sores on my face and are not able to be squeezed. I'm scared to go off of this pill because of the other horrible stories i've heard on this thread. I really do regret taking this pill and do not recommend it to anybody given all of the different side effects it has for each person.

Pros:

Clearer skin, and is a birth control

Cons:

does give me nausea

bottom line; it's treated me the same way any other birth control has. Yasmin has the same pros but doesn't give me nausea. if i go off any birth control whether it's been aless, yasmin, or diane my skin always get worse. Diane however clears it up faster. if you find it does make you sick always take it in the middle of the day with lunch, never at night or in the morning.

Pros:

Clear skin

Cons:

severe weight gain, back pain, headaches, cellulite, stretch marks on thighs, immense increase in appetite, yeast infection, depression, anxiety, gas, bloating

I never thought I'd write an online review. But after reading all these others I think i'd like to share my experience. I have been on diane for 7 months and re side effects are getting seriously intolerable. I have gained 9kgs, used to be so tiny and now I have cellulite on my thighs!!! None of my clothes fit me anymore and as soon as I eat something in the morning my stomach bloats and stays that way all day, it's so uncomfortable! It cleared my skin but these side effects definitly outweigh clearer skin. Everyday has become a battle! It's too strong a pill, too unnatural for your body. I can't wait to feel normal again once I'm fake hormone free!!

Pros:

It is amazing for your skin, but it took 3-4 months for the effects to fully sink in.

Cons:

Bigger breasts (went from B to D), bigger hips, weight gain, bloating

I am about to go off Diane for the first time in 3 years. I love what it has done to my skin- it is now absolutely flawless after originally having a few pimples. I am changing from Diane to the Nuvaring because I am sick of the effects it has had on my weight. My breasts have grown a massive amount and my hips have become larger. I am wanting to have a break from all of these hormones and see whether my weight gain is associated with Diane. If my skin suffers though I will probably go back on it. Sadly, no contraceptive is perfect.

Pros:

My mother is a dermatologist and has been treating my acne since I was 11. However, it was my gyno who "cured" my acne when he suggested this. It cleared up my skin considerably and I am NEVER oily! Also, I have lighter periods and bigger breasts:D

Cons:

There are lots of risks with Diane and I have had some mysterious medical problems that may be connected to it. However this is just speculation. Also, when I tried to go off them my skin went crazy and I had to start again.

I would recommend this to anyone with bad acne! I have tried for so many years all sorts of treatments, including diets, extractions, masks, products and nothing has worked. The reason was I had no idea I had a hormonal problem due to polycystic ovaries (A condition which is rare in young thin girls and usually goes by unnoticed). Bottom line was that my acne was caused by a hormonal inbalance and Diane is the only thing that has helped me. It has not cleared my skin completly but I have gone from having moederatly severe acne to having light acne (occasionaly worse with period break outs) This product is great! It also left my skin and hair oil free and my breasts went up a full cup in size! In the long term I dont want to use Diane because of the risks and side effects, However a 1-2 year treatment is ideal to help the skin reach its normal balance (less treatment time will not give lasting results)
