Pros:

helped clear up skin a little

Cons:

depressed
weight gain
bloated

I went on this after the doctor prescribed it for having my period to often . fast forward 3 months and the only plus side to this pill is that it did clear my skin up ( had mild acne ) but still with the occasional breakout hear and there, but this pill did result in me being very depressed and also gaining 7 kgs. I felt bloated and hungry all the time and couldnt stop eating so no wonder i put on the weight, I also had stretch marks from the quick weight gain on my hips which didnt fade for 2 years. I have had friends that have gone on this without a problem so it could of just been the pills reaction to me, im sure everyone responds differently.

Pros:

Clear Skin
Bigger Boobs
Contraception

Cons:

Weight Gain (under 5kgs)
Initial Breakout
Takes a a few months to become effective

Don't lose hope! I didn't have a problem with my skin until I started taking the birth control pill Levlen at the age of 17. I broke out like never before, and after a month on the pill I made the decision to stop taking it. My acne continued to get worse, so i went to see the doctor. She prescribed me Diane and I have been on the generic brand Estelle for nearly 6 months. At first the initial breakout was horrible.. and it continued to be so for about 3 months. I'am now coming to my 6th month and I'am acne free although my scars are still fading. Give it at least 4 months, that's how long it should take, and the initial breakout is well worth it in the longterm!!!! However, before you start make sure you have no blood clot history etc.

Pros:

cleared acne
reduced oil production
regulated period

Cons:

DEPRESSION
Acne came back worse than ever after I stopped using Diane due to mood problems

Diane did the job when it came to reducing acne and oil production however the trade-off is that I constantly felt uneasy, anxious, paranoid when I used to be a generally a cheery and passive person. In hindsight, I would not have taken Diane in the first place because I'd rather have bad skin than being an emotional wreck all the time. On top of that, now that I am off the pill my acne came back even worse than before, it's even on my chest and back where I never had a problem with before.

Pros:

- short periods

Cons:

- made acne worse
- very depressed
- crying a lot, moody

Overall, I would not recommend this product. You are giving your body hormones to try and help clear acne, which may work for some people but not always. Ultimately it is your body and if you can handle emotional stress I would say give this pill a try. I would try an antibiotic like minocycline before trying or switching your birth control. I personally switched from tri cyclen lo to diane 35. I was on it for 5 months and decided it was just making my breakouts worse so I went back on tri cyclen lo. It was not until about a week I was on tri cyclen lo that it felt this huuge weight or black cloud surrounding me just lifted off and I was smiling, all the time! It was like I was "me" again! :) Speak to your doctor because what works for someone may not work for you, but perhaps an antibiotic would be best at first, vs. hormones.

Pros:

lighter periods, less oily skin, no babies

Cons:

mood swings, blood clodding, sensitive breasts,

Girls, don't use these pills, really! I've been taking them for about 6 months and planned to continue taking them cause my face did get better after 3-4 months of using, but then i was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism - which was a blood clod in my lungs caused by these pills. I'm lucky i get out of it alive. So i'll be taking another pills for almost a year to get back to normal again. Also, the moment i stopped taking Diane, the acne came back again.. It's really not worth risking your health for this. In meanwhile i switched to OCM and more healthier way of living and that's sure the best way to clear acne and stay healthy. I wouldn't recommend Diane, nor any birth control pills whatsoever. It was really bad for me. But if you plan taking ones, check with your doctor about the hormonal status and everything and do every possible test to make sure your body can handle them, cause they can do some serious damage

Pros:

FLAWLESS CLEAR skin, no killer period pain (taking the yellow tab's non-stop without 7-day white tab's break)

Cons:

low libido, hair loss

I have had acne since I was a teenager (now 39yo), ending up on Roaccutane..which was effective. After having children all my acne can back and was now cystic and not just on my face but on my hairline, chest and back. Diane 35 began working after one month, and after three months I had flawless skin. i continued to take the product for the next five years, but noticed I was losing my thick curly hair. i have been off the product now for 1 year and my acne came back ferociously for the first six months but has since settled down. Although I have oily skin and hair now, the acne is most prevalent leading up to period...what I would like back is my hair thickness!!! Otherwise, I found Diane 35 to be highly effective for acne.

Pros:

Bigger Boobs, Contraceptive, (gradually) clearning up my skin

Cons:

Depressive - caused me to become antisocial, paranoid, loss of self worth

I have not noticed any weight gain. And I suffer from PCOS so I was prescribed diane mainly to treat my acne. I've been on it for 2 months and I have noticed that my skin has improved. However, it still has a while to go before my skin will be completely clear. I have active acne that is "deep", ie it has been there for a very long time. My doctor told me that skin takes a few months to completely heal so it will probably be 2-3 more months before my skin is completely clear. The only con is that it has affected my moods. I've become antisocial and paranoid.

Pros:

all pimples-GONE!

Cons:

mood swings, depression

For those who take diane only a few weeks and claim that it does not work, PATIENCE is the key. After 2 times failure of roaccutane ( which pimples came back even worse), I tried diane ( basically i just tried everything anyway). the first 2 months of diane was a very bad memory, but after 1 month that it cleared my skin significantly. My skin now glows and is so soft that i can't help touching it all the time. So just be patient friends! For those who have pimples again after stop using diane: My doctor prescribed me with diane 35 and minomycin. He said that when my skin is completely clear, I should stop diane and go on with minomycin for a few months to make sure that the pimples won't come back. I'll start using only minomycin next month. Good luck guys!

Pros:

Less acne
Smooth skin
Prevents babies!!

Cons:

Slight mood swings
Boobs grew a little

I was horrified after reading the reviews of this product on this website and when my doctor prescribed it I almost didn't try it because I was so scared. But then I figured almost thousands and thousands of women are using this pill over the world and these are only a few reviews. And most people are more likely to review a product if it did not work for them to complain, I know I have. Everyone's body is different and no one will have the same side effects. Its working for my acne and I haven't really experienced any negative side effects. I hope it works for you too! Any BCP can affect your appetite, some of my friends lost weight on it and some of my friends gained a little bit of weight on it. Bottom line is maintain a normal, healthy diet and exercise and don't smoke to prevent blood clots and keep the weight off. Anyways if you were SUPER frustrated like me with acne and want to be able to feel confident leaving the house without makeup and nothing else has worked then try it:)
