Pros:

Helped clear my skin along with Retin-A Micro.

Cons:

nothing

If this doesn't work for your acne after 3 months, than try Ortho-Tri-Cyclin. I used to be on that for acne, but just found that this one worked better for me. It is different for everyone.

Pros:

not pregnant

Cons:

BAD acne and red marks on face, moodswings, anxiety.

I've had perfect skin my entire life (am 25) and went on yasmin as a birthcontrol. After a month I started breaking out and after two I looked like a pizza. I got really depressed and had no sex drive. Initially I thought it was stress and didn't see the correlation. After I researched Yasmin and read the comments here I went off it. It's been a month and my skin is almost perfect again (except for some marks still fading) and I'm anxiety-free and happy. I just felt the need to say to everybody that felt like me- get off it. This page helped me a ton when I was very depressed. To all girls getting acne from this, it will get better and marks fade!

Pros:

Clearer skin!!

Cons:

Initially, felt sick, ok now.

I have had bouts of bad acne on and off, more on and am now 42 years old and sick of it. Was on Dianette for a long time, over 7 years which was brilliant for my skin. Doctor took me off of it when I was 40 and for 6 months everything was okay then my acne came back with a vengence. Boils, lots of pimples all over my face. Doctor put me on Yasmin, at first it made my acne worse!!! Very gradual improvement and now after 3 months I have no boils just a few small spots, which I can live with!

Pros:

Clearer skin (body and face), lighter periods, no pregnancy!

Cons:

Frequent spotting.

Yasmin is working for me except for the spotting. I have had no other negative side effects. Mood is fine, less PMS (in MY opinion anyways!).

Pros:

Clears body and facial acne and is fantastic once it starts working

Cons:

Bigger breast, food cravings, expensive, takes a while to work

I am on Yaz, which is a lower dose version of Yasmin. The first three months were really bad, the pill caused me to break out more, and I experienced a lot of food cravings and breast enlargement, but my doctor told me to give it a chance. By the fourth month my skin started to clear. Now I've been using it for six months and have not had a breakout on my face for the last two months, (my back cleared up about the second month after I started using Yaz). I just started Retin A micro and hydroquinone to help with the hyperpigmentation marks left from my past breakouts.

Pros:

I used to get the world's worst periods, with stay in bed, flat on your back, with a hot waterbottle on your abdomen type cramps. Yasmine freed me from that.

Cons:

I went on yasmine, and within 3 months I gained 70 lbs and could never loose it. I'm now the meanest person I know. I'm hungry all the time and don't want to be bothered with anyone. I don't even want to be intimate with my husband.

I went of Yasmine last week and already feel 100% better. I got back my desire to be with my husband. He says I'm not a wench anymore. And I've already lost 5 lbs. If you've had problems with other BC, I definately don't recommend this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

You don't get pregnant!

Cons:

Mood swings, acne

I have been taking Yasmin for 4 months after my Dr said I shouldn't take Dianette long term (I had been taking it for over 5 years). I have found Yasmin makes me incredibly moody and depressed, and my skin is awful - it's broken out all over my chin and jawline (plus some pimples everywhere else) which is really hard to deal with after having had completely clear skin for 5 years! I really wanted to like this, but it just doesn't work for me.

I started taking Yasmin when I was 17 for birth control purposes. February of this year, at the age of 21, I decided to stop taking it because of side effects, and money. I had no idea the extent of the side effects I was experiencing until I stopped taking it. I was happier, less moody, and I felt like having sex again! Then slowly, I started getting pimples increasingly, and finally in October I have full blown acne on my forehead and around my mouth. I have spent hundreds on acne clearing products. Proactiv, philosohpy (which I swear by, besides their acne treatments), and so many others. I had wonderful skin before going on yasmin, and wonderful skin while on yasmin. I wonder if I will ever again. I am thinking about going on OTC, but I don't know. I would not recomend yasmin, not even for the side effects while on it, they are nothing compared to the acne once you come off.

SECOND MONTH - ACNE WORSE

Hi! I am an Italian girl and I have been suffering from hormonal acne (especially on my chin) for almost 1 year beacuse of my PCOS. I tried different therapies with topical medication and antibiotics but nothing seems to work :( So, my doctor prescribed me Yasmin. I started to take this pill almost 2 months ago: the first month nothing changed (I just had normal breakouts especially before my period), but the second month has been awful, my face is a mess with lot of red and itcy bumps on my chin and even on my neck (where I usually don't have pimples). I called my dermatologist who told me that during the first 3 months skin can get worse (hormones need time to stabilize), so I should stick with it for at least another month to start seeing some improvements. I am very afraid, but if my skin is getting worse before it gets better, I will stick with it! Did any of you experience initial breakout before noticing skin improvements?

Did you look at spironolactone as an option?
