Pros:

Bigger boobs, short and light periods

Cons:

insomnia, weight gain, severe acne, sharp, shooting pains in my breasts.

I came to this site hoping to find some other people who have experienced a huge increase in acne since starting Yasmin. When I switched from Yasmin (1 month) to Ocella (1 month) I went from very mild acne to moderate/severe. I dont want to wait it out for another 2 months to see if it clears up, since the scaring is just now clearing after I stopped taking it for a week. I am not sure what kind of reaction I had, but it was almost instantaneous as soon as I started Ocella. Secondly, my boobs swelled up almost a full cup size. Which I thought was great since I am pretty petite. But the pain is almost unbearable. I wake up from the pain in the night if I sleep on my stomach. I cant exercise and I dont enjoy them being touched. Hugs even hurt! I dont know if I risk being put back onto Yasmin to see if things clear up or if the effects of Ocella were really that different from Yasmin. I have been on birth control for ten years and never had such violent reactions to any p

Pros:

Clearer skin, shorter, lighter periods

Everyone needs to stop bashing Yasmin if they have not used it for more than 3 months. With any good acne product, your skin is going to get worse before it gets better.

Made my acne 100000 million times worse
Before I started this pill I didn't suffer with skin as badly as I do now. I had mild acne, however this caused severe cystic acne especially around my jaw it was horrendous. My derm told me to stop it was causing so much harm.

Pros:

Hair is thicker
Skin not as oily

Cons:

Horrible breakout
Moody sometimes

I'm actually on Month 2 so I'm experiencing the horrible initial breakout that comes with the pill. I'm hoping by Month 4 (May) that at least some improvement will be shown as it will be my 21st birthday. I've always suffered from acne for almost 10 years now but it was slightly mild to moderate. Around puberty, I started to develop more pimples on my cheeks. Now I have pimples everywhere. forehead and cheeks and now my chin and even above my lip. I will send in an update around May. I pray that everything works out tho.

Pros:

- cleared acne within the first two months
- balanced hormones

Cons:

-made me feel a bit bloated

I suffered from a severe and random outbreak of acne for the last 6 months. Doctors could not diagonose a cause. The experience was traumatizing. I went on yaz to gear up for accutane, the only solution as stated by my doctor. Within the first month my cystic acne cleared completely. I am still dealing with an occasional breakout on my chin but I have yet to finnish my second month.

Pros:

Helps with irregular periods

Cons:

headaches, nausea, stomachaches, dizziness, faintness, lack of energy, increased difficulty waking up,

I went on Yasmin for reasons unrelated to acne, yet I had begun to break out before taking it anyway. I was hoping that the Yasmin would help clear up my skin, yet I was sorely disappointed! Not only did I see NO change in my acne, I actually missed school for two weeks because I thought that I was sick. I would go to sleep at 10pm and wake up at noon the next day with HORRIBLE headaches and nausea. I was terrified that I was going to throw up and would get dizzy and faint every time I got out of bed and tried to take a few steps. It took me four weeks (2 of which I stayed home from school) to figure out that Yasmin was what was causing these problems. I abruptly quit taking the medicine, and encountered the worst breakout I've had since I was 12 or 13 (I'm 17 now). My skin is STILL suffering 5 months later and I cannot find anything to cure it!

Pros:

No mood swings
Cheap if covered by insurance/university health plan
No pregnancy

All birthcontrols will have some effects on people, I went from Alessa, to Linessa, to that one that you take three months dose at a time and only Yasmin hasn't given me mood swings. Also, the weight thing is totally a mental thing, I haven't had any weight issues with Yasmin. Do note that going off BCP is likely to cause breakouts, I know it did for me :(

Pros:

No Pregnancies

Cons:

Takes quite a few months to notice difference with acne

I took Yasmin for over a year, maybe even more. I cannot remember exactly because it was so long ago and I have used several other birth control pills since then. What I do remember is how bad my acne was for the first several months but then evened out - you have to be patient.

Pros:

-No babies

Cons:

-Extreme stomach cramps and problems the entire time I was on it
-Anxiety
-Expensive
-No effect on acne

I went on Yaz and was so sure this was going to work for me and all it did was cause me months of pain and stress. I was constantly sick to my stomach so much so that I could barely get out of bed. I missed work, social events with friends and spent Christmas and New Years in my bed or the bathroom. It was terrible. There was no effect on my skin and even if there was it wouldn't have been worth it. I tried to stick it out for 3 months hearing that it can take up to 3 months for your body to adapt. 2.5 months in I couldn't take it anymore and stopped 3 days later I felt so much better and have been getting progressively better for the last few months. Through this whole ordeal I did learn that dairy was the culprit of my bad skin. I have cut dairy out of my diet almost completely and my skin is amazing. 1 or 2 blemishes around the time of my period or if I cave and have a slice of pizza. I wouldn't wish Yaz on anyone but I'm glad, in some round about way, it was able to lead me to the true issue with my skin.
