Pros:

Cleared up my acne almost completely
Regulated my periods

Cons:

Didn't do anything else to my periods aside from regulating them, still very heavy (possibly heavier than when I didn't take it) and did not reduce my pain (which can be fairly severe) at all.
Made me feel very low/emotional some days

I would recommend this pill to anyone who is looking for an acne treatment and also needs to regulate their periods, however if, like me, you were also looking for something to reduce pain etc, then maybe Yasmin (which I have just changed to after taking diannette for 6 months) would be a better option. I had virtually no side effects aside from nausea the first week or so of taking it. It took 5 days after taking my last pill in the packet before I came on, but I've heard this is not unusual.

Pros:

Cleared up the acne on my back and chest

Cons:

Weight gain
Breasts grow (in my case not a pro as was a cup F size already before the pill)
Most severe con: blood pressure went up in my case

I had taken the Dianette before in the past and had to come off it approx. 1.5 years ago when my GP told me that my blood pressure was too high. My skin was awful after coming off this pill and as nothing else had helped so far, after half a year another doctor prescribed me the Dianette again. Now I have to stop using the pill for good as my blood pressure has shot up again which is a bit worrying. Although I wanted to come off the Dianette anyway because of its side effects, it is a very hard thing to do as I know that my skin problems soon will flare up again. My bottom line: Dianette solves in most cases your acne problems while you are taking it, but it is hard stuff. It messes with your hormones and has lots of potential side effects, therefore it is not recommended to take it for longer terms. You have to come off it eventually and then your acne might come back with a vengeance.

Pros:

Cleared up most of my acne

Cons:

Took months for it to clear up, still isnt fully cleared after 8 months, painful period pains for 3 days straight, depressed moods all the time, unhappy, emotional, didnt feel myself anymore, i changed. Wanted to get back to my normal self.

Basically at first i was impressed but i would advise people NOT to take it, i couldnt wait to get off them, i was so unhappy and i felt i had lost who i was! It may react differently to different people however my friend started taking them and she had been feeling exactly the same as i had after just 3 weeks,so girls take my advice and please dont take it, believe me you will be happier off them than on them. NOT worth it.

Pros:

If this pill is going to rid my excessive hair, I will suffer all consequences.

Cons:

Distressing prolonged Migraine attacks, face is full of whiteheads and hurts!

I've been taking dianette for a week. My main purpose for taking this pill is excessive body/facial hair and oily/blemished skin. I don't have PCOS and was very confused when my blood test for hormone imbalance came back normal. I get terminal hair where most women do plus where most women don't i.e face, neck, chest, breasts, naval and thighs. I've suffered with this for a long time but hopefully now I'm more confident to get help. After a week I'm feeling the side-effects of Dianette. I had a migraine delivered straight from hell all weekend, night and day. My skin has broke out in sensitive boil-like spots and whiteheads. It's very sore and I'm very distressed. I'm slightly glad at the fact that 'something is happening' and hope and pray the migraines stop and the excessive hair I get goes away or at least calms down. I've read continuously that the skin sometimes needs to get worse to get better. I wish all you ladies luck, at least you're not alone xx

Pros:

Cleared my skin and more controlled periods. I also used Neutrogena Oil free Gel wash and azelaic acid for face.

Cons:

Breast tenderness and doesn't really help with period pains.

I suffered severe acne, couldn't find anything that worked. I started using NEUTROGENA oil-free gel wash which did dry up the oil on my skin, but still got breakouts, which left me with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation........:( so frustrating. Then my GP gave me DIANETTE (once every day) to treat acne from internally and AZELAIC ACID as a tropical cream to treat the acne as well as hyperpigmentation. I'm not sure, which was helping the acne most, but all 3 of these combined together works wonders! Trust me and try it, for me, I started seeing difference in 4 weeks. I know lots of you are so tired of trying OTC products and getting depressed when they don't work, which triggers more breakouts, instead of wasting money on expensive dermatology treatments, please try this! It REALLY WORKS! ask your GP for advice.

Pros:

none

Cons:

made skin worse, terrible mood swings, weight gain

DIANETTE IS EVIL!!! Took dianette for 9 months and i did nothing to improve my skin, if anything it made it worse. i also found myself getting angry/moody over everything and crying for no reason. made me a really horrible person to be around. it also made me gain lots of weight :( even though i was still eating the same amount as before. I have now been taking yasmin for 2 months and can see my skin slightly starting to improve already and no mood swings either!!

Pros:

Clear Skin!
Recommend it if skin is really spoiling your life i.e depression
Once clear come off and try and control it with another pill & Tropical Lotion.

Cons:

Mood swings
You can't stay on it too long as it can cause liver damage

People used to stop me to ask what i used to make my skin so clear. I am now on Cilest, i now realise my mood swings were due to Dianette as i feel so much happier now i'm off it, if i didnt have the acne ag. Saying that i would've put up with the mood swings as i prefer to have clear skin. I have now been on cilest nearly 3month, i started to break out in month two but i am going to stick at it as Dianette didnt work for me until month 4. I would love to go back on Dianette but i know it is'nt safe and i'd only have to come off it in a few months anyway. However at the time it was needed as my bad skin was really spoling my life. I was on it was two year and after the first 6 months i never had a spot! Now I am currently using Cilest & Benxoyl 5% and hoping this will keep the acne at bay for now until cilest hopefully starts working if not i will try another pill. Try and ensure you give each pill enough time to work i.e 3-6 months to work before moving on

Pros:

Better skin that any of the antibiotics i've been on, more stable mood, no weight change

Cons:

slight libido loss, nausea (not too bad though), scared of the infertilty everyone is talking about!

This was the first 'pill' i've been on, mostly for skin improvement. My skin has cleared up really well! I hardly have to put on make-up anymore. However libido loss is annoying and its very hard to lose weight/tone up if your trying. I'm also scared of the other effects such as depression or infertiliy :S I think after a year and a half I'll switch to something less strong and hope for the best!

Pros:

Lot less oily almost instantly, spots got lots better, regulated periods and dramatically reduced period pains.

Cons:

Craving sweet things.

I was actually put on Dianetter when I was 13 due to bad period pains, but it made my skin fantastic, but I was taken off it a couple of years later due to migraines. After, my skin was terrible, as were my periods and tried everything (including roacutane, which gave me eczema and alopecia), so Dianette was a last resort for me. The dr wasnt reluctant to put me on it, saying maybe I had the reactions to it before because I was going through puberty, so it was fine for me to give it a try now. I've been taking it for a month, and I feel fine. I did have tender breasts for a couple of weeks and went up a cup size, and I crave sweets, but I've managed to control it and my weight is steady. My hair has gone fantastic, it's less greasy and more bouncy, and the cyst kind of spots I'm prone to have started to clear. I noticed the change in the amount of oil on my face within a week, only having to apply powder once in the morning and it lasts all day! I'm loving it!

Pros:

Clears up acne and reduces redness
Better than any other pill I've tried
Body hair appears alot finer

Cons:

I came off of it for 3 months (due to my heave periods) and switched to Marvelon and my skin looked really red, sore and had lots of spots under the surface. Im back on Dianette now, and also using the Dr. Kern beauty skin acne lamp.

I would recommend this to all my friends. Im quite a small build and havent noticed any weight gain over 2 years. Some people have said it makes you gain weight and get a bigger bust, not for me though. Thats why I thought I'd comment, in case people thought you you definatly gain weight. Ive used this for over 2 years.
