Pros:

I took it to treat my acne, and hoped that it would treat excecc hair and hair loss asociated with PCOS. I am also under weight. Well it cleared my skin, helped me to gain weight and improved the hair situation, BUT..

Cons:

Well! coming off Dianette was like experiencing a MINI MENAPAUSE. I experienced much worse acne than I had known before. My hair got worse in every way. My skin aged too! I was only 23 at the time but felt like I was approaching 40! my period shortnd

Being on Dianette while I was on it cleared my acne and improved my overall problem with over-sensitivity to androgens. However after being on it for a year I started to feel sick for the first pill of each month.I knew it wasn't right to stay on something my body was fisically [link removed]ing off it is best described as a mini menapause- eveerything was worse than before and the worst thing for me on reflection is that my period shortened from a long 5 days strong period before Dianette to only two full days and it has never recovered. The good news is a herb called Agnes Castus cleared my acne again; the bas news is it took a full year on agnus castus before it worked but the results are amazing. At the moment I am conmsidering taking a diferent anti androgen drug but without estrogen so unlike with dianette there will be no awfull estrogen withdrawal symptoms. Tke it if you must but please please consider other options first. acne is bad but menapause is worse!!!

Pros:

My greasy skin cleared up almost instantly although around period time, the sore red lumps returned around my jawline, forehead and chin. Only just started my second pack so hoping that this will eradicate all the spots in time.

Cons:

Headaches. I can't comment on weight gain/ libido etc as too many other factors affecting that. I have however had constant headaches since I started taking it - more so in the 7 day break and again in this first week of the 2nd pack.

I guess I will stick it out and see what happens. I am really impressed that my super-greaseball skin cleared up so quickly but the headaches are not something I can live with long term. Taking painkillers - parcetemol and Nurofen does not even shift them.

Pros:

none. My skin was slightly drier within the first few weeks but now, three months later and it's the same.

Cons:

I am gaining weight at an incredible pace. I am severely depressed all the time. My cheeks and chin are now covered with permanent, bright red spots that were not there before. My skin is greasier. I am too depressed to leave the house.

Everybody tells me it works but it CLEARLY will not get better. I am prepared to put myself through this ridiculous ordeal for one more month (at the insistence of my GP) but I will definitely come off it if I don't see any improvements after the 4th month.

Pros:

Great for my skin. My skin has NEVER been as clear as it was when i took Dianette.

Cons:

It gave me horrendous migraines. I got them about once a week. I never had migraines before and they stopped as soon as i went off Dianette.

Wish i could've kept taking it but the migraines were awful. I couldn't stay on it. It really did work for my skin though and i'd totally recommend it if it wasn't for the side affects.

Pros:

worked great for about a year, but seems to be losing its effectivity! Now getting alot of red annoying whiteheads around my mouth and on chin!

Cons:

was very depressed at times, felt suicial somedays. Gave my job up when my spots started to return around my mouth as this felt like a huge blow to my self confidence. Became like a loner in my own home!

Was great for one year - had hardly any spots maybe just one or two that popped up now and again but nothing that I could not deal with! Until I gave up my job and then slowly watched all the spots return around my mouth and chin area and there is loads of them all painful and red and just make me feel so depressed to look at! I gave up my job and stayed at home looking for a new job for 6 weeks - in the 3 weeks went to the doctors and he has given me differin gel for night time use and he gave me duac - which i gave up after a few days and the red, sore feeling was too great. So i went back and asked for antibiotics he prescribed me tetracycline - have been on it for one week not sure if its helping or if i should take with dianette as feel it may knack up dianette from working... really not sure what to do or what to take for my skin! All i know is that it is just annoying to wake up every morning to see yet 7 whiteheads form around my mouth!! just feel so rubbish!

Pros:

Cleared up skin within a month of taking. Reduced greasyness.Make up stayed on better.Regular periods.

Cons:

depression, tearfulness , anxiety, panic attacks

Athough the benifits of taking Diannette are great, ( its wonderful to talk face to face with people amd not think that they are just looking at your spots) the side effects are just not worth it. I have stopped taking it now after 4 months as i really can't bear to feel as down and tearful as i do. Talking to close friends they have seen a huge change in me since i began the Diannette. Apparently i have been fed up more and little things that would have never bothered me previosly have become big issues that i find hard to cope with. Hopefully my body will get back to normal soon and i will put up with the spots rather than feel so miserable.

Pros:

Minor improvement to skin and quite quickly.

Cons:

Major depression, panic attacks, crying fits, nausea, messed up menstrual cycle (fortnight early then nothing again for 5 weeks - never happened before this pill), PMS just as bad if not worse, acne returned before I'd even stopped taking it.

Only got through two and a half strips before I couldn't stand it any more and stopped. I'm miserable (emotionally numb, panicky, anxious, suicidal - I've had problems with depression before but never this bad and not for ages). I'll cry like a loon at the drop of a hat, getting hysterical to the point of having a panic attack. At the moment, I feel sick almost constantly, sometimes even the smell of food makes me want to throw up (which makes me panic about pregnancy even though I'd been taking it flawlessly) and can't bear eating for days at a time. It also made my menstrual cycle IRREGULAR and didn't do anything to make periods lighter/shorter (and they were completely fine before). All of this kicked in pretty much straight away and steadily got worse. Now I've given up on them but I'm scared it will take ages for my moods and cycle to get back to normal, and my acne will get even worse.

Pros:

better skin!!!!! (everyone else is saying this causes headaches -- but I swear it reduces my migraines!!!!)

Cons:

weight gain :-( about 6 pounds in three months (but the first time I took diannette, i then lost the weight again with just a bit of dieting -- so hopefully that is possible again)

i love it. My doctor thinks I should not be taking it long term -- i am going to have to fight her on this one.
