Caused low white blood cell count

Pros:

Cleared up acne

Cons:

Caused low white blood cell count

This product worked great for me for 2 years. I did not see any negative side effects until I got a routine blood draw. My white blood cell count was so low my doctor suspected Leukemia and recommended a bone marrow test. Thankfully we did our research before proceeding. Solodyn can cause a low white blood cell count and other auto-immune problems (you can find this info on the manufacturer's website). I stopped taking the drug and my count went back to normal!

After you stopped taking the Solodyn, did your acne come back?
February 18, 2013

Pros:

I am 60 years old and still suffer from large primples, mainly on my chin. I know Solodyn works because I've stopped twice between prescriptions, and the pimples come right back. I keep my face clean and use a topical daily, so I know it's the Solodyn that clears up the problem!

Cons:

None for me

At my age, I think Solodyn is the safest for me.

Pros:

Clears skin!

Cons:

tiny bit of dizziness
It gets worse before it gets better

I've been using this product for a month now and my acne has gotten better but not where I want it to be yet but I'm getting there! My family has said they have seen it clear up but this isn't the type of product that will work in 2 weeks. In fact the first 2 weeks for me my acne did get worse but I get that because that is tottaly normal so dont just throw it away because it has to get all that junk in your skin out! I have really high hopes of this product and cant wait for the months to come.

Pros:

Acne noticeably reduced

Cons:

Acne scars began to hyperpigment within a few days
Dizzyness
Anxiety
Insomnia

Helped reduce acne, but for me, the side effects were not worth it. I am much happier on doxycycline.

Pros:

little to no acne

Cons:

Price, $20 for three months, then the price changes to $300 a month with insurance

I have struggled with acne all my life. I am 40 years old and still have acne. My doctor put me on this medicine and I have been taking it for two months now. I love it. I have had maybe one pimple in two months.

Pros:

Cleared up Acne

Cons:

Hair Lose
Dry Skin

As a 30yr old Black Female I got tired of having breakouts. I finally went to the dermatologist and she prescribed Solodyn. I've been taking it since September. I noticed my hair was shedding bad after 2 months. My hair dresser noticed a lot of breakage. I checked online and hair lose was not a side effect. I called my doc and she has taken me off the pills stating that hair lose is rare but can happen. I'm sad b/c the medication has been great but I'd prefer not to be bald. Sigh! On to the next prescription......

Pros:

is fairly inexpensive only if your doctor has coupons or a discount card.

Cons:

doesn't seem to work. causes break outs in areas that were previously clear.

i went to a dermatologist for some minor back breakouts that i wanted to clear up before my wedding. i have been on this medication for 6 weeks. my face is completely broken out. i have little bumps all over my forehead. my back is somewhat better but now the breakouts seem to have moved onto my chest. i have never had problems with my face before and my chest was always clearer than my back. even if the breakouts are due to wedding stress, shouldn't an oral medicine that is supposed to combat breakouts from the inside out still work? the doctor's solution to the new breakouts was to use a prescription body wash and face wash. now i find out that i need to be weaned off the meds or the breakouts could return, and return worse. fabulous. maybe i should have just started with the wash.

Pros:

Cleared up acne

Cons:

Joint pain, headaches, muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, swelling

When I was prescribed the medication I found it worked well it cleared up my acne but I began to have muscle and joint pain, weakness, fatigue, swelling after going to the doctor I found that I had drug induced lupus from the medication. Although rare it was quite unpleasant and I will never take that medication again. But my experience is a very rare outcome.
