Pros:

Fairly inexpensive compared to Accutane

Cons:

Don't know yet, have only been on it a few days

First off, why is it that some people have only paid less than $20 for their Rx of this drug, yet I paid almost $30 at Walgreens? I've only been on it for 2 days and my acne, which is moderate, has gotten worse. Is this normal?? In any case, I'm hopeful. My dermatologist gave me the Cephalexin because I'm allergic to Minocycline and he won't give me Accutane because he said my acne is not cystic. I have acne on my forehead, around my hairline and on my chin. What's a girl to do?!! HELP!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Didn't help my acne, smells nasty, tastes bad even if you swallow it quickly. Large pills.

Cephalexin/Keflex isn't very good for acne, and isn't very effective. It didn't disrupt my stomach like minocycline did, but it's hard to get down because of the scent which you can also taste. I had to take this with soda to swallow it. Didn't clear my acne, nor did it help with inflammation, clearing breakouts or preventing them. However it did help my post-nasal drip a little.

Pros:

Inexpensive, pill is easy to swallow

Cons:

Hasn't made any significant changes in the amount of acne I get

I gave this 2 stars because I've only been taking it for three weeks, so it may just take a little longer to work. However, I haven't seen any improvement in my skin and as someone who experiences frequent yeast infections, it's a drag to be on antibiotics for an extended period of time. My routine right now is to take Cephalexin 150 Mg twice a day, along with Dan's regimen (and AHA+ at night). To give you an idea of my skin, I have 2 or 3 active pimples right now and a week ago I had 6 (because I was on my period). The bottom line is that I haven't seen any changes in my skin. Hope it starts working!

takes months to help with body acne

Pros:

Inexpensive at Wal*Mart. I didn't know that Wal*Mart carried the $4 generic at the time and wound up paying alot more at CVS since I did not have insurance.

Cons:

Bad smelling urine, may cause red urine and red sweat.

Cephalexin works great when fighting severe acne or cystic acne infections. It targets the bacteria cell walls, therefore killing it. If you ever get a cystic pimple, you know how painful it can be. The most spot that U.S. population will get it is in the buttocks, especially right by the tail bone. At early signs of slight pain, don't be afraid to go to your doctor to get it checked out. Waiting too long will result in lancing.
