Pros:

Easy and effective

Cons:

none

Had this prescribed after a septoplasty, and did some research after my skin began to clear up. Had mild acne and was almost completly clear in 5 days. Now I just need to check on long term side effects.

Pros:

works!! finally something that worked for me

Cons:

smells a little but really it isn't a problem

it works! finally a antibiotic that has worked for me. I'm a 24 y/o female and I've tried everything minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline..this was definitely different and I've been on it for about 6 weeks and really starting to see a difference in my skin and other people are noticing it too. you just have to make sure to take it as prescribed.. if you miss a few doses your skin will flare up. also my doctor recommended to use it with 10% benzoyl peroxide face wash which has also been helping (although drying)..better results than the salicylic acid one I was using. i also use 1.0% tretinoin cream at night with the antibiotic. this combo has been working really well for me. I didn't have any side effects to the medication either.

Pros:

Worked incredibly well, wasn't even using it for acne.

Cons:

None.

I had a sinus infection and was taking Cephalexin for it. While I was sick I was completely miserable and didn't shower for several days (gross, I know, but I felt like crap). Now, if I don't shower for a day I WILL break out with at least 1 cystic pimple and other minor acne. After wondering why after 4 days of no major washing I didn't get any acne I checked... It HAD to be this cuz I used no other products or medication during this time, and at 30 years old I know how my acne works. I'm not a doctor but from what I understand, taking anti-biotics too often will lessen the power of your immune system. This in turn will make you more susceptible to sickness/colds/flu's/etc. Again, I'm no doctor so I'd definitely consult yours if you plan on using this regularly.

Why does everyone keep saying acne is not a bacterial infection when indeed it is..do your homework. ive been put on accutane for 6 months..and it worked fantasticcc!!!!!!! but there is the fact that it can come back and it did a little of it..but i had taken Cephalexin for a month and that worked. Fact of the matter is that everyones body is different so just try it what do you have to loose? this doesnt have the side effects that accutane has either (dry lips, dry eyes, etc) PRESCRIBED FOR: Cephalexin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are susceptible to the effects of cephalexin. Common infections that are treated with cephalexin include infections of the middle ear, tonsils, throat, larynx (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis) and pneumonia. It also is used for treating urinary tract,SKIN, and bone infections. so dont say its not for skin...

Worked amazingly well
I actually went on this a week before a major surgery on doctors orders. I was so distracted with the idea of surgery that I didn't notice until later that it caused my acne to COMPLETELY go away. It was awesome, unfortunately it only lasted while I was on the medication, a mere week. (The effects lasted about 2 weeks.) I would like to get on this again but I'm not sure if a doctor would prescribe it specifically for acne.

They definitely will! I used an app called Dr on Demand. I highly recommend it; you basically put in your information, insurance if you have it (without insurance it's $40) and all of your symptoms whatever they may be. Then you instantly connect to a doctor using FaceTime or video chat. It definitely beats going to urgent care when you know what's wrong with you like a sinus infection, strep throat, etc. I called the other day and the doctor prescribed me cephalexin 500mg every 6 hours for ten days. She sent the script to the pharmacy I provided and it was ready to be picked up ten minutes after we hung up. I've only been using it for a couple of days but it's already working tremendously well. Anyways, I hope this helps and I'm glad your surgery went well!

Pros:

it actually works!

Cons:

its an anti-biotic, can't use long term and may give you digestion/yeast problems because it kills good bacteria too... but I don't think its a big deal if you are relatively healthy to begin with...

I have had acne of various levels of severity ever since highschool (27 now) and had the opportunity to try this anti-biotic and its really works. I use it along with the oil cleanse method (olive oil, castor oil, and tea tree oil) and my skin looks (relatively) great. ALL my tiny acne bumps on my forehead are gone and the bigger ones are healing with no new ones in sight (I did seem to have a slight out break of bigger cyst like acne right after I started taking this, but not convinced this was related to the medication)...this is obviously not a long term fix, and I do sorta worry what will happen once I stop taking it, but as far as its effectiveness to clear your skin up quickly, this is amazing...500mg 4 times a day...if you want to remember what you look like without acne, try this...

Pros:

Works in about 3 weeks!

Cons:

scared of long term effects

I used this product, with topical retin-A, 1 year After being off accutane (my acne came back). It did work, but my dermatologist says it is not something that should be used long term due to the possibility of becoming immune to antibiotics.

Jesus Christ- I have found a miracle. I have tried everything under the sun, pills gels creams you name it. It's been a week and I'm almost clear and feeling pretty!

Cons:

Smeely but it's not a big deal I think.

If you want something fast and effective make this you're new buddy. I would also use a topical, I've been using bperoxide and cylinda. every and night. Thank you keflex!

Pros:

I was on minocyline for about a year & it quit working. I've been on cepalexin for a week & it seems to be working well so far. I like it because It's a little cheaper, I have no diet/sun light restricitions (like before) & I only take it once a day

Cons:

It does have a little bit of a bad smell, but if you just pop it in fast followed with some water it's not so bad. I have experienced some itching where I have current breakouts, but it's not constant so it's tolerable.

So far it's working okay, but my acne is not all gone yet due to how short of a time I've been on it. I'm hoping that if I stick with it on a very regular basis is should be effective.
