Pros:

Works well on the cheek area, reducing redness.

Cons:

Progress is slow. Does not appear to help forehead or neck.

To be effective it needs to be used to DIFFERIN gel. In my experience, this causes the skin to become flakey at first, before increasing the regeneration of new skin cells. This leaves the skin feeling much smoother and tackles the blackheads which erythromycin fails to do anything about. Im finding DIFFERIN much more effective than Benzol Peroxide. ooo one final small point. I stopped using soap completely and just applied HOT and COLD water to the face. This really does appear to help and reduces redness :) hope this helps

Pros:

Working after only a few days. Considerably less redness and acne activity.

Cons:

Made me a bit nauseous, but I can deal with it.

I am worried about long-term use. When I was younger I used tetracycline for a while. As soon as I stopped the acne returned. I imagine it will be the same with this med.

Pros:

no pros yet...

Cons:

dry itchy skin

I'm 26 y/o. I had a bad acne back when i was 13-17 y/o. Let's just say it runs in the family. I tried alot of over the counter acne meds and washes. They only worked for a few days and back again. When I turned 18,my face started to clear up w/o any meds. So, I thought I was finally OVER it...sooner than my older brothers which at the time were still breaking out. I would breakout occasionally but nothing major. Not until early this year. I broke out pretty bad..worse than before. Went to dermatologist and was prescribed erythromycin 300mg 2x/day. It worked! but 7 months after I started breaking out again. Now...I'm back on erythromycin and BP cream. My face is really itchy and really dry. I'm not quite sure if it's helping. My derma uped my dosage to 333mg 2x/day. I don't know..I'm losing hope..and I'm starting to get self-conscious...and I NEVER DO. that's how bad my acne is affecting me.

Pros:

Did reduce redness pretty immediately; however, did not remove completely.

Cons:

No effect on my acne whatsoever. Had diarrhea at least every other day.

I have a lot of redness in my face, blackheads/stubborn pimples on my nose and chin. I noticed an improvement in regards to redness right away, but even that didn't become anywhere near NORMAL levels. I tried it for about five weeks-at that point, I was getting diarrhea almost every day, with no change in my acne at all. The full prescription was two months, but it didn't seem wise to take an antibiotic for that long...especially with no results along the way. Would not recommend! Do your research-there are a lot of serious possible side effects from taking this drug (deafness, palpitations, etc).

Pros:

Hasen't been too long, though it has cleared up my skin ever so slighty.

Cons:

Makes skin greasier!?

I've known people who it has worked wonders for. Give it a go :)

Pros:

did see a difference in the number of spots i was getting they had reduced also made my skin look smoother.

Cons:

the capsule version plays havoc with my stomache and makes me have stomach cramps. when you stop taking this medicine spots come back

Try it, it takes a while to notice the effects but it does work. However get the pink tablet version and not the orange capsule. I take 2 x 250 morning and night.

Pros:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

btw, it was solution that i used not the capsule

Cons:

my doctor prescribed erythrosolution + aha soap + acne spot / gel. after 2mos of using these products, it made my acne worse. my acne used to be light to moderate. now its severely moderate

im not sure if its the erythro that didnt work or its because of the combination w/ the other products. one thing i know, its expensive but youre not getting something good from it. i thought that break out is normal in the first few weeks. but omg, after 2mos, no chnges at all. i stopped seeing my derma coz i know she wants me to buy her products. im medicating myself now using 2.5% BP + cetaphil cleanser + neutrogena moisturizer. im on my 2nd week of medication now and so far, its working fine (despite of flakiness of my skin)

Pros:

cleared up in days...but still a few bumps under skin

Cons:

feel sick and really worried itl all come back when course finishes in a week....but my friend on roaccutane is on her 3rd batch of that stuff and and running out...her acne is back even after that so what hope does this hold of staying clear!

good but the worry of it comming back is stopping me enjoying having much improved skin...help!

Pros:

After the first 4 weeks my skin was BEAUTIFUL!! I was so excited about having no acne on my face.and I loved my skin texture.

Cons:

After about 6 weeks I stated to break out again. I think my body is used to it so it's not effective on me an longer. My dermatologist told me the best bet is birth control or she suggested Septra. I just don't want to be on antibiotics forever!

I think I may try the Septra. My concern is that the same situation my occur as with the Erythromycin, it stops working for me. Not sure at this point, what my long term goals are for acne treatment...
