Acne.org : Moisturizer with Licochalcone (OLD)

Not to mention the great price for so much product, I finally found something with licorice root! I learned that licorice root helps break down the melanin in your hyperpigmentation so I'm glad that Dan has products with it. Currently testing the scar fading abilities though. The moisturizing properties itself probably isn't the best for dry skin peeps. But I think of this product as almost a treatment than a moisturizer. I usually pair it with another product or sunscreen etc. It doesn't break me out at all and absorbs nicely, and I don't find my skin becoming oily at all anymore which is an amazing sign, since I also use sunscreen everyday and somehow that's absorbed too! I can't wait to see if my hyperpigmentation does fade, but for now it is a harmless product that will do it's job.

This is my daily moisturizer and has been for years. This product absorbs very quickly. It leaves my skin with a matte finish when it absorbs and dries. It is not heavy and yet it does a good job of hydrating your basic day to day skin. It does not clog pores. It does not feel oily. It can color a white shirt if you are not careful which is just about the only negative I can come up with. Sometimes in the dead of winter when my skin is extra dry I supplement with a heavier duty moisturizer (philosophy's hope in a jar). However, this moisturizer can keep up even in some of the colder drier times of the year. I love this product.

I have oily skin but I don't have many acne just 1 or 2 small only once in a while. I've been using this moisturizer for 2 days, and it seems that my T-zone is still oily and some part of my face look greasy. What I want to ask is whether this moisturizer can dry out my oily face or not or it's too oily for me. Can somebody answer my question please? Thanks in advance.

I love this moisturizer. For whatever reason, this moisturizer gets a bad reputation. It is amazing. It contains jojoba oil which is non comedogenic, takes care of flakes, and moisturizes well. Also, the licochalcone is awesome. It feels very cool and soothing which is great for sensitive skin. People have complained that it doesn't absorb enough but I disagree. I've found it does the job very quickly. I love it and can't wait to get more. P.S Dan, please make one with SPF!

There are better moisturizers than this for the regime out there. This kept my skin moisturize for maybe an hour at most.

I've been using the acne.org regiment for 3 months now. My acne has gotten sooooo much better since then but my skin feels grows, oily and flakey all the time. I can barley move my face because when i do it just cracks and looks horrible. I wish that the moisturizer was as good as the treatment but it just seems to bring the quality of the whole regimen down.

Great, but tans your skin. Probably only noticeable if you're vampire pale like me.

Because everyone's skin is different, it is impossible to judge whether this moisturizer will work for you. In my case, the moisturizer provided everything as advertised in the first few weeks. However, every day after that I felt no relief at all and eventually stopped using it entirely. For those on the Regimen, it's best to use this until you are almost perfectly clear and then switch to a different moisturizer. I would recommend using Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream as it synergizes well with the Regimen and is priced in the same range as this one. The common complaint of "shininess" and "yellow coloring" can be argued for but are easily dealt with using a thin paper towel. Other than these two issues, I didn't feel any other side effects. To sum things up, if you have struggled with dry skin in the past, pass this up. For those whose skin is oily, I cannot speak on your behalf and wouldn't know the results for your skin type. For those who never have to worry about dryness, this product will probably work more favorably for you.

Wow, I'm surprised by all the bad reviews on here! I happen to really like this moisturizer. It's gentle and works well with my combination, sensitive skin. I guess it's a tad bit slow to absorb, as in I wouldn't go out in public without waiting a few minutes because I look shiny temporarily. But that's the only downside! There are some great ingredients in here...jojoba oil, licorice root, Squalane, vitamin E, etc.... It works well under makeup. The price is right too. All around, the whole kit is awesome. I loved everything about this moisturizer - it was cooling and calming on my skin on top of the BP, wasn't too greasy, easy to spread, and kept my skin moisturized - HOWEVER, the big downfall is the yellow coloring which turned my face orange. It wasn't even a tan look, I looked ORANGE. I'm quite fair (lighter than a MAC NC15 for reference) so having the look of an orange face against a very pale chest... that's not cute.
