Here's why you have an allergic reaction
This problem is Tocopheryl Acetate. It is a synthetically made chemical by combining Vitamin E and acetic acid. Both the moisturizer and AHA lotion have this. Tocopheryl acetate is often added to skin creams and other cosmetic products in order to make them last longer during shipping, storage, and for when they are sitting on retail shelves. While not everyone has adverse reactions to tocopheryl acetate, there are a number of health risks associated with the ingredient, particularly if you have thin or sensitive skin. Even though the FDA approved tocopheryl acetate as safe for use in skin creams and other health and beauty products, it has been proven to irritate skin and cause carcinogenic effects with long-term use, unlike the pure form of vitamin E.

SOOOOO Allergic!!!! Formula Changed?????

So I used this systems years ago and it was amazing but somewhere around the time that they upgraded the packaging I reordered and had the worst allergic reaction with completely swollen eyes and a painful red itchy rash across my neck. I threw it out and recently reordered thinking that it was a bad batch. I used the cleanser and benzoyl peroxide again for weeks with no reaction. Last night I tried the moisturizer and woke up to my eyes being completely swollen shut and the same rash. I now know there is something very wrong with the moisturizer formula. This could be dangerous!! I have absolutely no allergies to anything, so I am completely shocked that I literally look like the elephant man right now!!! BE CAREFUL and do a swatch test first! I am a beauty influencer so if anyone has any questions or wants pics my IG is [Removed]

Swollen Eyes
This product isn't good for my skin anymore. They claimed they didn't change the formula, but it started to give me eczema a year after I started using it. I see a lot of people saying the same thing on this site. I wish they'd fix the problem.

Broke me out in cystic acne!
I never review products but I felt obligated to write one for this. Unfortunately, this product not only broke me out but it also caused a slight allergic reaction on my skin. I'm not sure what ingredient caused the allergic reaction, though. However, I'm pretty sure the acne came from the jojoba oil. When I applied the recommended amount, my skin would get greasy during the day and that excess grease caused awful breakouts. Even scaling back did not alleviate the greasiness and I have dry skin! I would suggest for those who are starting the regimen to substitute with another moisturizer, or at the very least patch-test this one! The regimen is a brilliant system but without a suitable moisturizer that can combat the drying effects of Dan's BP, it'll render the entire regimen useless.

ive had some serious cystic acne breakouts in the past that no soap, cream or oral medicine has been able to solve. aside from cystic acne i also have rosacea. in my ten years of struggling with stubborn cysts that could only be taken care of by surgical means, ive found that the biggest culprits were certain food triggers: caffeine(so sad), spicy/hot foods, and foods/products high in biotin. before giving up on the acne regimen, try figuring out if anything you are consuming may be the cause of your problems. i have found that as long as i stay away from my triggers, and use my AR products, my skin is happy and healthy. i hope this helps, and i wish you the best!

It's funny you mention caffeine. I have only started regularly drinking it this past year and my blemishes have only gotten worse. As much as it's hard for me to give it up (I am drinking it right as I'm typing this), I know it is probably better to cut out on the inflammatory foods. I will try dropping the caffeine drinks altogether. I have already cut out dairy and sugar so here is hoping I achieve a clear complexion soon! Thanks so much for your reminder! Sometimes it is not what we put on our skin that will help clear us, but what we put inside our bodies!

Mixed Reviws
I have an interesting relationship with the moisturizer. I feel as though sometimes it does its job, and other times it does not. When I had first started using the regimen it would not moisturize my skin (even with the addition of jojoba oil), it felt and looked greasy, and my skin would burn. The only thing I liked was the added tint to my skin, as it evened my skin tone and helped hide my blemishes. There was a period during my 1-2 month process where the skin around my eyes and mouth became very flaky and dry. During this period I would use the moisturizer only in areas where I wasn't sensitive/irritated and any areas where my skin was sensitive/irritated I would apply Aveeno baby moisturizer. I was so desperate at the time (and convinced it would work) that I stuck it through for 1-2 months and used the entire regimen twice daily. Over time my skin had begun to significantly clear up; it ended up adapting to and absorbing the moisturizer very well (without the addition of jojoba oil). Now, I have no problems with the moisturizer and am content with what it does for me. I like that it does not feel thick on my skin, I no longer look greasy, and I certainly do not feel irritated by it. I feel as though it could be slightly better, but it could also be worse. I have mixed reviews, as I think that much of it may have to do with skin type and how one's skin reacts to it.

Huge WARNING!
I started the regimen about five weeks ago, and after the first week my skin started acting out really badly (itchiness, redness, swollen skin, burning). I was desperate to get rid of my acne so I didn't want to quit the regimen too quickly, but I needed to find out what was causing my skin to suffer. I stopped using the products for a few days to let my skin heal, and then for a few days I used only the cleanser. My skin was fine so I knew that it wasn't the cleanser causing the reaction. I slowly started using the BP as well, but only once a day and in very small amounts. My skin, apart from being a bit dry (which is normal) was fine. So I started using the moisturizer again, and yes, my skin was getting red and itchy just like the first time, so I imediately stopped using it and just kept to the cleanser and PB. But then about two weeks later my skin was doing the same thing again, mostly around my eyes, and I couldn't figure out why. I read a lot of reviews all over the forum and someone mentioned that the moisturizer has Butylene Glycol in it and that some people had a reaction to it. I checked the ingredients in all the products I was using on my face (there were only about 4), and one of them did have Butylene Glycol in it. It was my new makeup romover that I was using to take my eye makeup off. It all made sense. So now I know that I am allergic to Butylene Glycol. So basically, I'm just trying to warn you, that if you start using the acne.org regimen, and your skin starts getting itchy, red, swollen, sore, and burns, it might not be because of the BP (like I thought it was at first), but because of the moisturizer. If this does happen just stop using it for a little while and see if you skin gets better. Also, can anyone recommend a good moisturizer to replace the acne.org one?

Butylene Glycol is in every single one of the Acne.org system products except for the pure jojoba oil. I'm suddenly having a bad reaction to the system and am trying to find out the cause.

So disappointed
I bought the regimen several years ago, and it worked like a charm. My favorite product by far was the Acne.org moisturizing lotion. Even though I loved the product, the cost and cost of shipping, at the time, were cost-prohibitive for me. Since I am more able to afford it now and Acne.org is finally offering free shipping, I ordered the moisturizer in the large pump size. I've been using it for about and month and am so disappointed in it. It feels like it has been completely reformulated. It is runny, and like other reviewers, it really doesn't soak into my skin until it's been on for several hours. Again, like other reviewers, it legitimately burns upon application. The older formulation NEVER did this. And again, like other reviewers, I believe this caused me to breakout and usually as long as I'm consistent with the acne medication, I have little to no breakouts. This moisturizer just hasn't cut it like it did when I first purchased it. I have discontinued its use even though I have the whole bottle left and went back to using Curel Daily Moisture Original Lotion on my face and my breakouts have slowly begun to heal after a week of not using the Acne.org product. I'm so sad this doesn't work anymore because it used to be the superior product. :(

I love this stuff!
I absolutely love this stuff! I haven't used a moisturizer on my acne-prone skin in years because I always feared any moisturizer would only induce more acne. I decided to trust this stuff and wow, I wish I knew about it sooner. I am loving the entire system. My skin is improving A LOT. It's so smooth and radiant!

See No Effect
I don't really like the moisturizer . I don't use it with the system and my skin still cleared so I don't think you have to use it if you don't like it plus my skin is oily. I use aveeno to moisturize
