Pros:

microderm left my skin feeling smooth all over. it softens the look of my acne scaring and helped with dark spots left from blemishes.

Cons:

face was red for the 1st day after treatment. there is no pain involved though, just make sure to moisturize

i have scarring after years of suffering with acne. microderm does nothing for deep scars, but does wonders for my less severe scarring. my family says they saw results after my 1st and only treatment. i can't wait for my second treatment.

Everyone was impressed after just ONE microdermabrasion session.
My skin condition pre-microdermabrasion: Oily skin, clogged pores, occasional breakouts, post acne marks/scars, fair skin tone I got a free microdermabrasion session from a lucky draw, I didn't know what is it about so I googled it. Since it's free, why not give it a try. Result: So right after the treatment, my face became slightly red/pinkish (similar to facial extractions), and the doctor applied sunscreen on my face. A few days later my skin has improved dramatically, the redness on my nose has reduced, the mild acne marks/scars on my cheek has reduced to ALMOST non-existent. But after looking at the reviews, one thing I can notice is that microdermabrasion will result in 3 different groups. 1) Instant improvement after one session [ME] ; or 2) Improvement after multiple sessions i.e. 7-12 sessions; or 3) became worse. ***In short, it really depends on how your skin reacts to it. If you already tried many others methods like me, why not give it a try. If you already have a good skin condition, better not, as you might make it worse/aggravate. Key takeaway: 1. After doing it, minimise sun exposure (wear sunscreen, hats) 2. Don't use makeup, let your skin heal/recover from it. 3. Not every clinic/ dermatologist are the same. (Really depends on how your well your doctor does it for you) 4. Of course, home microdermabrasion will not yield as good result as going to a doctor who has the expertise in this field. 5. Microdermabrasion is considered non-invasive. You can actually search up on youtube to see what's microdermabrasion. 6. Some people might say they've done 5 treatments in 2 years. Based on doctors' recommendation, you should do every 2-5 weeks to see effective results, not 5 treatments in 2 years.

It really did help my skin
I had a microdermabration and extraction 3 days ago at my derms office and it definitely help improve my skin texture. If you have a lot of clogged pores and oily skin i recommend it. There really is no down time if done correctly.

Pros:

Affordable at home kit, quick, easy, simple, great results

Cons:

Increased skin sensitivity

I have had acne for years. I've been waiting two months to start my Accutane and I'm supposed to be starting in the next couple of weeks. I've always been told that I should try to avoid deep or harsh exfoliation as it could cause bacteria to spread and scarring. I grew a little impatient while waiting for my accutane, I decided to go ahead a try Microdermabrasion. I've been using the Neutrogena kit morning AND night -daily!! My skin is smoother and the scars are fading. I've been doing this for one week and have not had but TWO pimples all week. Note that I'm getting ready to start accutane which means I've had serious acne problems that have failed to respond to other treatments. I do not remember one day where I have not had a pimple and definitely not a full week of practically clear skin. Bottom line!!! It's working for me. I'm wondering if I will even need accutane. I'm so physced. I wish I had tried this sooner. I feel so beautiful! TRY IT!

fresh, cleaner looking skin

Cons:

replacing microbrasion cream

i bought myself a mictordermabrasion kit for r250 - and it worked brilliantly! after 2 weeks, i can see a visible difference in the reduction of my previously darkened scars - to a point where i am able to wear my hair up again. i have not had a break-out since i stated. absolutely worth the money!
