Pros:

I have rather severe acne and it helped clear acne from my face. The process is very slow though and you won't really notice the difference until the first month. Also, this tablet will do nothing for acne scars which is what im left with. I'm going to stick on these antibiotics for another two months which is what my doctor reccommended just to make sure It doesn't come back.

Cons:

-They're big tablets.

-Sometimes when you burp or breath you can taste the tablet in your mouth which isn't pleasant.

They don't have any side effects, well at least none that I noticed. It will take some time, so just stick with it.

Pros:

It cleared up my spots completely!

Cons:

takes at least 6 months to see a satisfactory result so time consuming.

My GP precribed this for me as well as duac i used them both for at lest 9 months and no i have flawless skin not a single spot on my face just a few blemishes thats all. I really recommed to go to a GP but research the product wisely before you take what the doctor give you!

Pros:

Cleared acne pretty much completely
No side effects!

Cons:

For me there was the issue of antibiotic resistance and they stopped working :(

This was great, I mean fantastic for me. There were no side effects, it was just the problem after about 5 months and they stopped working.

Pros:

improved acne a lot with time,
complements on skin complexion

Cons:

started breaking out again after about half a year,
PIH takes a lot to fade,
eye tiredness after a while

I had acne since puberty and at that time my parents took me to the derm who kept prescribing topicals for me. After being fed up with dotors, I have decided to visit a GP. He recommended oral antibiotic lymecycyline. After 3 months of breaking up, my skin started to improve A LOT. When I got the occasional zit, it healed itself in a matter of about 2 days. I continued to take it for another 3 months and then stopped because of eye problems. My face continued to improve, it never looked better. However, after half a year I started to break out badly again. (I'm 21 now by the way). Now, I have decided to go to the GP and maybe ask for Retin-A + antibiotic. I have read so many reviews saying tretinoids help for skin looking clear in a long run, which is what I am looking for. I really want my face to look and feel great again!

Pros:

- When I first started taking them there was a dramatic improvement on my moderate acne with 3 weeks.
- No side effects.

Cons:

- Got the odd 1-3 around the time of the month, which I wasn't that bothered by.
- Came off them after around 18 months in the hope that my skin clear itself up naturally
- My skin then became a lot worse, so went back on them after 6 months and I've been on them now for around a month and a half. --- --There is no difference so far which is really disappointing, considering how quickly they became effective.
- Didn't sort out my black heads or white heads.

- Great for moderate acne. - Take consistently, do not take a break in between treatments! - They definitely work, however I'm worried I've become immune to them :-( - Be patient with them!

Pros:

- It reduced the number of existing pustules which I had on my forehead, jaw and cheeks. - My skin felt a little dry, but overall not uncomfortable.
- It also prevented the development of new subcutaneous and dermal cysts and nodules which, at this stage, were causing me extreme discomfort.
- It took only 28 days of treatment to see definite and lasting improvements

Cons:

It is honestly nauseating. I woke up in the morning with this aftertaste of a stale maize product.

It really worked especially on the subcutaneous cysts and nodules. I didn't expect it to work within three weeks, as by the time I had finished the 56 capsules (which I took 2 a day in the evenings) my skin, although badly pigmented and with scars, was no longer producing new cysts or nodules. It tasted horrible, and wasn't always easy to swallow, but it was very effective.

Pros:

Cleared my little pimples on my forehead
No harmful side effects
Once a day

Cons:

I've been on it for a while and it hasn't fully worked yet
Have to be incredibly patient for it to start fully working

A few years ago i had mild acne and decided to visit my local doctor. She prescribed me this product and when i started using it for 2 months my face was completely clear and smooth. I then went back to my doctor for a check up to see what the condition of my skin was. We both made an agreement that i should stop taking the antibiotics as my skin was flawless. About 2 months after i stopped taking the antibiotics i started to get a few pimples. I thought it was just something mild and didn't take much notice then, as time passed, it got worse and worse and worse. i couldn't stand it anymore so i visited my doctor again and she put me back on them. I have now been on them for 4 months and they SHOULD be working by now? can you become immune to these antibiotics?! i fear that my skin won't become clear again.... :( i have also been using retin A and i've been on that for 3 weeks AND STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. all i want is clear soft skin! is that much to ask?

Pros:

Fairly effective on moderate acne
Can be used alongside topical treatments (e.g. benzyl peroxide)
Improved back/shoulder acne

Cons:

Have to take a capsule everyday
May interfere with contraceptive pills
Takes several months for an improvement

I'm 26 and have had moderate acne on and off since I was 12. I mostly get cysts on my chin and jawline and occasionally forehead, but about 4 months ago my back started to break out too. I've tried just about all over the counter acne treatments and none worked, as well as trying benzyl peroxide, and topical antibiotics with very little improvement. Lymecycline has vastly improved my back acne and I now only have one or two spots on my chin. It means taking a capsule every day, but it's a small price to pay for being almost spot-free. It takes about 3-4 months to work, so don't give up if you don't notice an improvement straight away. Also, you can use topical treatments with it to improve the efficacy further. I've also been told that it's a long-term treatment and that if you come off them, you are likely to have an acne relapse, so I'm planning to stay on them for the foreseeable future.

Pros:

-Works well
-Good for hormonal acne
-not as many "angry spots"

Cons:

-like all antibiotics, can cause side effects
-if you forget to take it, acne comes back

I haven't taken pills for acne before, but my doctor gave me this to try in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide 2.5. My acne has definately got better already, but obviously doesn't help with scars. I have noticed my skin had become very dry, and so has my hair, and also it can upset your stomach until you get used to it. but overall, good thing to try for first medication.
