Pros:

Made skin softer. Slighty lightened hyperpigmentation.

Cons:

Didn't do much for my acne.

I think this would work well for scars if you got a couple of peels done, but it doesn't do much for acne, so I think its best for people who already have there acne under control.

Pros:

Reduces hyper pigmentation/scars
Skin felt smoother

Cons:

Didn't do much for my acne
Skin becomes really sensitive to sun the day after

I choose lactic acid peels because my hyper pigmentation was pretty severe. Now after a month of using 50% concentration, my skin is noticeably clearer, the marks, I would say are much lighter in appearance. If your thinking about it, go get it. You definitely can't go wrong with this product. It's cheap and a high return for such a low-risk :P Just make sure you don't leave it on for more than 8 minutes and make sure you apply a good moisturizer/sunscreen. Cheers.

Pros:

Cost Effective
Great for dry skin

Cons:

Takes a long time to see any real results

I have very fair skin, and started getting fine lines at 17! I have always had freckles, and as I approached 30, I didn't like the way they made my skin look. My skin is dry, so I went for a 55% Lactic Acid Peel. The first time I used it, it got rid of the top layer of gunk on my skin, and my skin glowed! I also found little blackheads and large pores that I had never seen before. But as I kept using the peel (once a week), my pores tightened, and I have not had ONE pimple. I have noticed a slight improvement in my fine lines, but a noticeable improvement in the texture and look of my skin, even without makeup.

Pros:

Affordable to have done at home. I Recommend starting of with 20-35% salicylic acid before, in order to wipe out the first layer of crap so the lactic can wipe out the stuff you want.

Cons:

Some redness after peel

Eat plenty of oranges, leafy veggies, and salmon before and after the peel. The skin will heal faster and you will get a better peel out of it. Also use a really good moisturizer. I'v been using a 70% lactic acid on small soft rolling scars and they are almost completely gone. A bad sunburn and peel would have gotten rid of them, but thanks to the acid I don't have to deal with hyperpigmentation.

Pros:

works right away. will not burn as badly as a higher % AHA or BHA. can be used more than once a week. Zaps zits fast.

Cons:

your skin will peel in some places and flake... so use jojoba oil and a gentle cleanser.

I've had adult acne since my middle 30's (i'm now in my 40's) and couldnt' afford spa treatments. did research, used according to directions (carefully) and not only does this help my acne, but also fine lines, sun discoloration and skin clarity. I started with a 30% and now use a 55% peel.

Pros:

Lac-Hydrin Lotion (5% lactic acid) is THE best thing that I have found yet!

Cons:

mild stinging for 5-10 minutes after application

I have EXTREMELY oily skin (can almost feel it trickle down my skin), blackheads, whiteheads, moderate acne with about 3-4 new cystic bumbs a day, but after just about a week of using Lac-Hydrin lotion (@ 5%, they do ,make a 12% under a slightly diff. name but my dermatologist said it is not recommended for the face) as my twice daily moisturizer, followed by a light application of Retin-A micro at night and Clindacin lotion to active breakouts in the AM, I have watched my pores literally shrink to nearly invisible, have had NOT ONE new cystic bump, and only 4-5 new "tiny" bumps (but over already active areas) appear. This stuff has been an absolute miracle for me. The worst part about acne is the literal pain of the pressure inside of the lesions and it is so great to finally not be in pain. An approximately 8 ounce or so bottle of this stuff was about $14. This is long term adult acne, previously controlled (bcp) but extreme flare-ups after discontinued.

Pros:

helps hyperpigmentation
helps clear skin
prevents new acne

Cons:

stings a bit
cant use makeup day after peel
avoiding the sun

i have been using this for a year now.. it definatly helps me with scars . it does not minimize scars but it helps clear up post hyper pigmentation. i like to use this before i start my cycle cuz it minimizes breakouts. this is a chemical exfoliant and it will help your skin. first off when u first start using this product start with a low dose i started with 40% lactic acid i bought online. contact me ill give u the info. and when u first start you will break out it purges ur skin the fist time its completley natural. its bringing the dirt in your skin to the surface faster hence " exfoliant" after that moisterize!!! a good non codmegenic brand please. and i avoid using makeup the day after i peel to keep the fresh skin clean and avoid the sun... and p.s i had moderate acne

Pros:

It's very healing. It helps bring breakouts under control.

Cons:

It costs money.

I've had a lactic acid peel every month for the last 6 months and it's greatly reduced my inflammations. I have moderate acne and lactic acid will dry up the areas that tend to keep breaking out and feeding each other with infection from the previous one. The peel breaks the cycle for me and gives me a chance to heal up instead of the monotony of having pizza face 24-7. You can use Kinerase's lactic acid peels at home and they rock too. Let's face it, acne cost money no matter how you slice it.

Pros:

Acne is 90% GONE~! Afforadable!

Cons:

Stings on application. Dries out the skin alot. (but can be managed with the right ointments!)

I'm SOO happy I gave this a try. I was scared at first to apply 30% lactic acid on my face just because it sounds harsh! It does feel a bit uncomfortable when you apply it but its only for 6 minutes TOPS and once a week! The dry flakey skin was to be expected. My secret method of both concealing the dry skin AND reducing acne scaring is a product by ambi called fade cream. Its at walmart and very affordable. Its intended for people with dark skin because they scar badly, but works for my light complexion just perfectly! I saw fantastic results within 4 weeks of using the lactic acid peel! If your looking for where to purchase lactic acid, search ebay ;)

Pros:

I use a 30% lactic peel once a week. Leaves my skin smoother and controls breakouts.

Cons:

An inital flare of mild acne after the peel.

I have tried everything and lactic acid at home is the only thing that controls my cystic acne. I now have mild superficial acne, but as we know that is NOTHING compared to cystic. I would give this a try, you can buy it online. Don't need a neutralizer, just rinse and then use baking soda to neutralize. I have adult acne for reference.
