Average - at best - for cystic acne. OK for moderate acne.
If you don't go with benzoyl peroxide you're crazy, but this is about the best of the "natural" remedies. However trust me for extreme acne this doesn't work particularly well other than taking the edge off the worst symptoms. Recommended only for very mild acne.

I have moderately severe acne and honey alone wasn't enough. However, when combined with an oral antibiotic and topical Retin-A it works wonders. I find that in my case it works great for reducing the appearance of scars/hyperpigmentation plus it also soothes the skin after using the harsh treatments like Retin-A.

too sticky by itself
I posted a honey mask recipe, The type I used was royal jelly in high quality raw honey. One of the functions of honey is to draw out pus and impurities. For about an hour the following day, my skin had a slightly bumpy texture that went away after I cleansed, exfoliated and moisturized. My flakiness was improved, but I think that's more because the texture of the honey pulled off excess flakes than any other property of the honey.

Pros:

Its sticky, but its easy to apply and to remove.
Your skin will be moisturized and softer.
Reduces scarring.
Reduces pimples.

Cons:

It doesn't cure acne, it just helps it.

Well, I've started using raw honey on my face everyday since three days. It is amazing so far. I've seen some small changes, which I think that within two weeks, will be great changes as my acne is not so severe. Im also using some products like eryacne, triacneal and cleanance by avene. I wouldn't tell you only to rely on honey, because it doesn't cure acne. It just helps with redness, and scarring, but doesn't cure it. Im also using birth control pills and some other natural pills.

Pros:

Easily available, affordable, doable on a daily basis, makes skin soft and glowing, existing pimples are tamed and doesn't get "monster-sized"

Cons:

You must give 15-30 minutes of your time every night to do this!
Don't expect to be 100% clear just through honey

I'm a cycstic acne sufferer (particularly bad in the chin and mouth area). I've been through all meds except Accutane, coz I just refuse to touch that one. Meds work but only temporarily. I'm sick of all these chemicals and decided to look for something more natural. I use ORGANIC honey as a mask after washing my face. I do this NIGHTLY, leaving it on for 30 minutes before washing it off with warm water. My face since then has become clearer. I admit I'm not 100% acne free but new pimples "mature" in just a day or two, does not get inflamed anymore and redness is reduced faster with the honey mask. My chin has been its clearest since I've used honey. Now, I just get tiny pimple usually in areas where my hair comes into contact with my skin. Skin is left glowing, old scars less visible. HONEY ROCKS! Try it, you have nothing to lose. Hope it helps you as much as it did me :D

Pros:

*Non-drying
*Clears acne
*Minimizes pore size
*Smooths skin
*Reduces redness

Cons:

*Application can be messy

Best natural remedy. I've tried all different remedies: potato rubs, aloe, essential oils, lemon sugar scrubs, baking soda (etc...) and I've never experienced results as timely or drastic. Give it a go! It's cheap and certainly can't hurt. Happy healing!

Pros:

Gentle, no chemicals, no redness.. And lightened my acne scars. Also left my skin really soft.

Cons:

Left my skin drier than usual, but no itchiness or redness.. Just use lotion after if this happens to you.

It's great! I cut a whole lime in half and squeezed the juice into a cup.. Then put honey in it and mixed it up. You can save some for later.. Make sure you put the honey in the microwave for alittle first. Make sure it's warm!!

Pros:

Moisturized well and tasted yummy!!!

Cons:

Caused break outs and made my skin more oily than usual.

After my skin cleared up from Dan's regimen I decided I would try the honey mask for "Radiant" skin. I used local honey that was raw and unfiltered. Unfortunately it caused my oily skin to break out, but everyone's skin is different so who's to say it wont work for others!
