Pros:

-does not strip your skin
-it's gentle
-$2 off cetaphil coupon on website (if you consider it a pro)
-good for dry to normal skin

Cons:

-does not remove sunscreen (or makeup)
-may not cleanse thoroughly enough
-not strong enough for oily skin

My derm recommended this a while back. I was using topicals (duac and differin) and I found that this cleanser did not irritate my skin. I have used this on and off through the years and it seems that I always have more acne when I am using this cleanser. It seems like my skin is always left oily after I wash with it. Instead of consulting the message board like most people do, I asked my dermatologist. I told him about the oil residue that was left after I cleansed. He told me: "It is a common belief that using harsher cleansers actually results in an increase in oil production. This is true. However, it is important that individuals with oily or acne-prone skin use a tougher cleanser to remove oil and restore balance to the skin." There. Straight from the horses mouth. I always find that when I switch to the foaming cleansers that Dan recommends that my oily skin is better managed. If you have dry skin though I would go for it. Just my opinion. Also, I had to stop using this because it started to sting my face when I was on accutane???

Pros:

good for sensitive and rosacea
moist for skin

Cons:

cant remove makeup well

i had used my doctor cleanser but it made my skin even redder. So i decided to give cetaphil a try, a few pimples pop out in the first few days but after using it for a period, my skin are not so red anymore and my face are more smooth and clear, this is the best cleanser i ever used.

Pros:

-Doesn't clog pores
-Moisturizing
-Calms my skin

Cons:

-Doesn't treat acne

I have moderate acne all over my face, but yet I don't have oily or dry skin. This has made for quite the time finding products. I have been in search of a gentle cleanser that doesn't dry out my skin or have any pore clogging oils in it. This was recommended as a gentle cleanser and it is the best one I've tried. I've been struggling with acne for 4 years now and have used almost every OTC product available. Out of all the products I've stuck with this one the longest. To complete my morning routine i use hydrogen peroxide all over my face to kill bacteria and a little Aveeno Calming Oil-Free lotion on the few dry spots. At night I don't use lotion and instead of hydrogen peroxide I use a 10% bp cream (Oxy). Oh and on those nasty scabbed pimples I've been using Neosporin. This routine has worked very well for me the past few months! Highly recommended:)

Pros:

Very gentle
No smell
Washes off easily

Cons:

Has a weird consistency
Goes on like a thin lotion

To me, the consistency and the way a product goes on is not as important as if it truly works. Although I have not been using this product for long, I have no complaints about its effectiveness.

Pros:

mild
odor free
rinses easily

I always recommend this brand to friends and others looking for a new cleanser or moisturizer. This product is readily available and cheap compared to others. It leaves the skins smooth and fresh feeling even when used twice a day. Other great Cetaphil products include the moisturizer which contains sunscreen and feels light when applied.

Pros:

SUPER gentle but still cleans, softens skin, fragrance free, calms skin and reduces redness compared to medicated washes

Cons:

could be cheaper, but it is a great product

FALSE MYTH: if you have anything above light acne, you need a medicated cleanser. TRUTH: Be gentle, even with higher levels of acne! Double medicating, or using a medicated "acne cleanser" and another topical treatment like BP or spot treatment only made my skin look worse by causing redness and irritation. It took me a long time to realize this after jumping from medicated cleanser to medicated cleanser! After switching to Cetaphil my irritation and redness has gone way down, and I depend on a Benzoyl Peroxide cream to treat the acne areas. ALSO, CAUTION WITH THE CETAPHIL GENERICS: Being a cheapskate, I tried to save $ with a TARGET's generic brand, but it stung my face, and I am back on the name brand. Other generics might not do this, but remember, TARGET STINGS!

Pros:

Very gentle, non-drying. A bottle lasts a really long time. They also sell travel size bottles, which is great. Have been using for 17 years on the advice of a dermatologist, and haven't had problems with my skin since.

Cons:

No cons.

Since it isn't drying and doesn't leave a lot of residue on your skin if you rinse with water (like in the shower), you might think that there is still product left on your face, but there isn't. You may need to get used to it and give it a chance to work. Like I said, I've been using it for 17 years and have had no acne problems since starting. For the occasional breakout, I will use Biore wipes at night on the affected area, but other than that, only the Cetaphil. I would highly recommend it.

Works wonders!
This is an all-around great product for me. It works especially well on my fairly sensitive skin. It is mild enough that it doesn't dry out your skin but still reduces the size and tenderness of my acne. It did not make my skin red or flakey, and it works just like it says on the bottle! Definitely recommend!
