Pros:

Isotrexin is great for drying out the skin and preventing extra spots from cropping up, it's the most effective gel i've used

Cons:

Very dry skin, if you apply before going anywhere, you could end up looking silly

i've been on loads of different perscribed acne medications over the past 3 years and isotrexin is by far the best, but only when used with a tablet (in my case doxycycline) when i got my isotrexin a few months back i had been on doxycycline for a couple of months, which had brought out all the rubbish from my pores and made my face look like a warzone combined with the isotrexin, it calmed down the spots, whilst the tablet cleaned up i'm still on it and only getting no new spots cropping up

Pros:

it really works!

Cons:

1.it takes a long time to see the results
2. at first it tends to get worse and it is quite hard to stick with it especially for the desquamation side effects

so, indeed it really works( at least for me)...but it takes time and patience (like most of us mentioned)...and it's hard when you see at first noo results and after a month still no results and you kind of start to doubt...personally i saw the first results in like 6 weeks and more than 2 months for the greatest results i've had with any other product!

I'm using it for a week and three days. Too early to come to a conclusion, since my dermatologist told me I won't see any results before 6 weeks. My case is maybe a little different. I've no acne all over my face. I have a single cyst on my right cheek. This thing appeared out of the blue and has been there for almost two months really messing with my nerves. The doctor told me it was a acne cyst. Ok, so far, a week after initializing the treatment, the area is reddish and started to peel. I'll be persistent and I'll use this at least for 3 months. Lets hope it works!! I'll be back to share my experience. Until that, good luck to you all.

Pros:

Skin less oily
Clears stubborn blackheads
Wears down old troublesome spots

Cons:

Can only be used at night due to peeling effect
Exfoliating in morning to clear dead skin

Great product but you need to be dedicated to completely cleaning your skin in the morning otherwise the skin it has peeled away will just clog your pores even more. I was prescribed it in combination with an anti-biotic so improvements in my skin may not have been totally up to the gel!

Pros:

Does initially clear the skin, only been using it for 2 months so will have to see long term if it works, seems like in the early days it goes away then comes back again, so time will tell

Cons:

I have to take a day off using it here or there to get the best effect, also the peeling is no good for morning use, use at night if you don't want to freak people out with the peeling on your face!

One of the better treatments used, the gel is good and unlike creams does not block the pores thus causing more spots. The tube of 30ml perscribed at £7 (NHS) does not last long, and red patches on the skin seem to occur. I think it's best to take the odd day off using isotrexin as it works better over the following days. Without doing this I have found it does not work so well and seems like the skin builds up resistance to it. The peeling is not good and it cannot be worn with make up so forget using it in the morning when you go to work! Overall seems like a good product but again as with ALL acne treatments I have used there is possibility it will stop working in 3/4 months. Compared to other treatments used I find this has the least amount of side effects i.e headaches etc. but everyone is different so this may not be the case for others.

Pros:

Helps unclog closed comedones, works best in co operation with anti biotics
Can also potentially help reduce shallow scarring with prolonged use
Free from my dermatologist (UK- NHS)

Cons:

Initial breakout may be experienced

Can leave skin very dry - try to avoid using in the bits where the tip of your nose meets the upper lip/cheek as it is very irritating

Reccomended with use of antibiotics which shange every few months as the bacteria become resistant to it, this combination worked ok for me but accutane is the real answer for acne if this dosent work

Cons:

Leaves skin flakey and sometimes red

I cant comment on the pros of this treatment too much as I have only been on it for 3 1/2 weeks now, but at first it seemed to work almost immediately and no new spots were developing. However over the last few days my skin has got worse but im hoping that if I give it time it will clear up, as many other people have said on this site. I've been on many antibiotic tablets before and tried zineryt and freederm gels and they all seem to work for a small amount of time but my GP told me that this one should clear them up and maintain them so fingers crossed!
