Pros:

Eliminates and dries up pimples quickly

Cons:

Also dries out the rest of your skin

This is an excellent spot treatment and really helps to stop the pimples from maturing. My dermatologist even recommended it to me. I would probably use it only as a spot treatment, though as it does dry out your face fairly badly.

Clearasil causes premature aging
I am a 33 year female and I used clearasil ointment for the majority of my 20's to treat acne. I started noticing that my skin was looking visibly different than my identical twin sisters when we turned 30. She wasn't using these products and her skin was clear. I did some research into benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid products and sure enough, there is a lot of evidence proving horrible long term effects on your skin. I was using it nightly before bed. I'm now on Spironolactone (an oral medication used to treat severe acne) and have weened myself off of these products, but my skin is still recovering from being on it for many years. A good book to read is called Clear Skin Forever. It might be a good short term medicine, or for spot treatment, but not one to use every day.

Pros:

slowely clears acne

Cons:

cant really wear under makeup
will dry skin
flakes off if you put on a generous amount

This stuff worked great for me a year ago, but now it lost its potence.. maybe my skin has changed? But it does slowely clear my acne... not as quick as it used to though. It's also somewhat impossible to wear under makeup.. unless you use tinnnyy amounts. It also sometimes dries out my skin but I haven't had much of a problem lately.

Pros:

Skin much less oily
Tightens pores
Acne free within weeks

Cons:

Extremely drying
Initial breakout

Alright, so I have incredibly oily skin that nothing can seem to control for more than two hours before I have to blot - with the exception of this. I'm amazed at how well this has improved my skin in less than a month. I can go nearly 4 hours before I have to blot, and nearly 6 before I need to do any retouching of my makeup! I had an initial break out, but those zits vanished pretty quickly. I also started using WAY TOO MUCH of this product at first, which caused my skin to look dry and scaly for the first week. Please use sparingly and only once at night! Once you find how much your skin can tolerate before it becomes too dry, I promise you will love this product if you're using it properly. Make sure you have a good moisturizer as well!

Pros:

-dries out the pimples I had

Cons:

Far too drying for me. Wouldn't recommend it for those with mild/moderate acne like me. Turned my face bright red in a very blotchy way, and flaky. Maybe if you only put it on active pimples, and then wash it off, it might be ok.

Wouldn't recommend to those with sensitive or combination skin, even with tons of moisturizer it is just too drying. It's been over a day since I last used it and my skin still looks awful. If you do buy only put it on active pimples, I tried putting it on areas where I often get pimples and have oil issues but that was obviously a mistake. I guess if you'd rather have bright red, scaly, blotchy, itchy skin over pimples then try it...but there must be a better option. PS the stuff I bought was only 5% BP.

Pros:

Dries up pimples.

Cons:

Doesnt absorb into your face so it irritates my pimples when i wash it off. When i washed it off my face was also very red and stung a little but the redness went away in about and hour.

Will help acne but it definitley can leave face dry or red. I do not reccomend you putting this on clear spots of your face, only on pimples. I also feel it works better on smaller pimples than bigger ones. I started today, and the small ones are already clearing up. This also barely has

Pros:

makes my skin feel less oily

Cons:

not exactly working

ok.. so I use it a long with some acne face ultra wash of theirs, and it is sooo not working this stuff only seems to work when I apply huge slatherings on my face at night, and it's all white and dry, and makes my skin feel better, and tight, but that's overapplying it right? see.. when I don't do that, it doesn't do anything how do you use this
