Revlon : Colorstay

I had been using Cover Fx for a while because I had a lot of acne on my forehead. Once it cleared I decided I would try a less expensive brand and went with Revlon Colorstay. I started to notice I was breaking out on my cheeks which never really happened. After a little while my cheeks were COVERED so I ditched Revlon and went back to the higher quality brand. Though I thought this would fix everything I STILL have really sh*tty skin. Now I'm 19, approaching 20 (I had tried out Revlon when I was 17, almost 18) with a ton of scaring and breakouts even after trying tetracycline, birth control, and s prescription acne cream to clear me up. I am horribly embarrassed about my skin and really hate my appearance. Sigh.

I tried this foundation after reading countless reviews on how great the coverage. I will admit that the coverage was great for hiding acne. But this is not an every day foundation. This was extremely heavy and only something that I would've used for special occasions. Unfortunately my skin breakout with 10 new pimples overnight with this product. I wouldn't recommend this foundtion due to the fact that it took two weeks after using it to get my skin under control.

This was my holy grail foundation until I realized that it was causing breakouts on my skin. I don't use foundation very often, but when I do, I wear this stuff and at the end of the day when I take off my makeup I always get one or two new blemishes. The acne.org regimen keeps me clear and I only break out when using this foundation. It took me two years to figure that out haha. I would always blame the new breakouts on something else, like food or stress. One of my friends also used this makeup and developed cystic acne and told me not to use this and see if my face clears up. I'm so glad I listened to her and took her advice! Even when I take this makeup off very well with jojoba oil and my Clarisonic brush, it still breaks me out. What a bummer, because this is a great long-lasting, full coverage foundation. I now use Almay TLC liquid foundation and guess what? No breakouts! The Almay TLC foundation is only medium coverage though, but I would rather settle on that than have acne. If Revlon Colorstay foundation breaks you out but you still want full coverage, the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation gives even better coverage. That one broke me out too. If you are willing to go to medium coverage, the Almay TLC liquid foundation is worth trying. You can always use concealer and finishing powder to achieve more coverage.

I wouldn't use it again. Although it's great coverage, it's almost impossible to wash off with "gentle" cleansers, when you sweat it's almost like the sweat doesn't get out. It's almost like stage makeup, and seemed to plug every pore I have.

I bought this about a month ago,at first i did like it because it gives nice coverage but only if you cake on amounts of it. About a month later it started to broke me out,i got cystic acne all over my face, its was so gross! I stopped using it and i didn't broke out more,to my point now;i wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

This stuff DOES cause breakouts. When you wear it, it oxidizes on your skin, and looks terrible- you can definitely see it on your face, and it doesn't look good. I can't express how nasty and awful it looks. Check a public mirror- you'll be horrified. Plus, it makes your skin look dull, DRY and OLD. Emphasizes pores. And it emphasizes the crap out of dry, flakey, or peeling skin. very gross. Plus, it feels really thick and gross going on. And of course, the packaging is terrible. Bottom line, makes skin look 10x nastier and worse than no make up at all.

Colorstay did not agree with my skin, as it clogged my pores big time. I had a ton of under the skin nodules, that weren't pretty, particularly in the sun. It felt really heavy and cakey, I couldn't imagine wearing this in the summer. Overall, it gave my that feeling of yuckiness all day, as though my face was heavy and my pores were clogging every minute I had it on.

I am recovering from some really severe acne I finally got my acne under control and at a normal acceptable manner in public. My face looked normal with enough coverage for the scars so I was seeking a make up to help me feel confident again. I've read raving reviews on many many websites online and decided this would be great for my situation. I rushed to Walgreens with enough research to know my exact color perfectly and the type to use for my skin. The next day I applied it to a fresh face with a sponge and it was WAY TOO THICK, so I wet the sponge as suggested online still very thick. Did a LIGHT layer and looked like a compltete CAKE FACE!! :( So I thought ok maybe it needs to dry.. Waited.. Still looked the same. Then I thought maybe I was overthinking the situation and just left it on. My cousin came over soon after and said to me, "Wow Nadine.. I don't know why you think your acne is so bad, you look fine! I think its that make up you're using, it make your skin look old." &She suggested another make up for me. I went to wash it off and IT WOULDN't COME OFF!! I must have washed my face 5times to no avail, I started freaking out. What kind of make up doesn't come off with face wash or soap? I don't think that this is something that people should put on their faces it was HORRIBLE. Literally like using the paint for the outside of your home onto your face HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. It took over a week for me to finally see that junk fully wash off my wash & it shoot my nearly clear skin back to severe and worse than I had seen it in over 6months!! This makeup messed up the progress I made and Iwas terribly disappointed. NO ONE SHOULD EVER USE THIS MAKE UP, Its heavy duty enough to paint the walls of your bedroom seriously. Not something we should be putting on our faces. I've headed to the Wet n Wild Tinted Moisturizer as a foundation, a concealer stick for the spots, some blending, and a stroke of setting powder.
