Pros:

It really works, I've tried so many different products that have never worked. As soon as I applied the product you could feel a difference. It only took me a week to notice a huge difference.

Cons:

Dries out your face....but not for long. Its worth it!

I didn't have to pay anything w/my insurance plan, so its free for me:-)

Pros:

You see results. Clears Up Acne pretty well. Gets rid of some scarring too!

Cons:

Face feels stiff after applying, and when it doesnt it looks very dry. It can dry out your skin a little bit.

I've used this for only about a month, before I was using Benzamycin. I've had mild acne for years but only since the 8th grade it started to get really bad, Now in tenth, its in between mild and cystic. The doctor said I have grade 2 acne, and this stuff has worked pretty well so far for me. My big pimples are going away, the red marks, the bloodspot looking scars from picking at them, blackheads, everything. I've bin also using Retinol-a with it at night, seems like its bee n working!

Pros:

Seems to be effective in drying up a lot of active acne that you may get. Has worked wonders for me in the past so I'm glad to be back on it.

Cons:

Like others have said, you may experience some redness or dryness when you use it.

The problem with a lot of topicals is that people don't use them correctly. This definitely may dry people up but if you use it correctly, it shouldn't be unbearable. I use this in the mornings, take a solodyn pill as well and then use Ziana at night. This regimen seems to be working. It's taking care of a lot of red marks and preventing big outbreaks. I suggest that whoever uses Duac, be sure to follow the instructions very carefully. It'll help to avoid a lot of the problems some people experience.

Pros:

Cleared up cystic acne and smaller problem areas within days of the first time I used. If you have oily skin, the dryness is almost good at first!

Cons:

Extremely dry skin and peeling. For me that lasted a few weeks and then my skin started to normalize again (but once most of my acne cleared up I started using it as a spot treatment).

I think that the dry skin and peeling are worth it...especially if you have suffered from oily skin your whole life.

Pros:

After only one night, my acne was drying up and the red spots were lighter. I used to get 2-3 new zits a day, now I haven't had one since I started using Benzaclin (knock on wood).

Cons:

VERY dry skin after only a few days of using it once a day. Burns, skin is pretty much constantly a reddish tone, but overall it works well to deminish acne and old "stubborn" acne.

I am 23 and started getting moderate acne problems about 2 years ago. I never had problems as a teenager, but once I went off of my anti-depressent, my acne got MUCH worse. So, I went to the doc and he gave me Benzclin, Differin, and monocyclin oral antibiotics. After reading reviews on this site, I have decided to only use the Benzaclin for now. Over night my acne got better. The red got lighter, my skin was less oily, and my breakouts have slowed way down. However, after only a few days of using it just at night, my face feels like it's going to flake right off. I use Clinique's Moisturizing GEL and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. This seems to help, but the skin under my eyes looks terrible. To combat this, I only drink water (and TONS of it), use lots of moisturizer and lip treatment, exercise, and to prevent GI and yeast infection problems, eat yogurt and use monistat once a day(sorry guys) but ladies, this will be your saving grace. It will keep good bacteria in your system. Good luck

Pros:

Really seems to work for continual use, nice texture, unscented.

Cons:

Tube doesn't last long. If I miss a couple of doses my skin breaks out. On delicate areas (neck especially) skin becomes dry, red and itchy. Cannot be worn under make up, when dry seems to go sort of peel off.

I've been using Duac for about 6 months, on my face, chest, upper arms and back. Like all the other topical treatments I have used in the past, I noticed an improvement very quickly, but unlike the other treatments, my skin has not (yet) developed an imunity to it and it continues to work. I use a lot more than recomended and on very bad pimples, I re-apply it in the day a couple of times. The downfall of this is I'm going through tubes of it v quickly. Luckily I get it free on prescription. My skin has shown a great improvement, so much so that it is almost verging on perfect and I can go out without make up on sometimes. My acne was only really fairly mild, though on my back it used to get v bad. Now you would never know. I do still get spots, but now it is only a few, in comparrison to the many I had before and they are very small. If they ever stop making this cream I will freak!

Pros:

Starts to work within 24 hours, and I was basically clear within two weeks. A little goes a long way, so I never even had to fill my prescription, I was just using my sample size. Topical side effects can be managed easily.

Cons:

Tons of peeling, a little stinging and itching, and redness.
After the 2nd week, I began to develop GI problems, so I've stopped using it.

I was using it twice a day for the first couple days, then once a day to cut down on the irritation (plus it was working so well I didn't really need the second dose), and layering tons of moisturizer and vaseline to minimize the irritation, which helped a lot. I only applied it too the acne areas, which is also recommended. But the GI symptoms which got gradually worse made me want to stop. It's a shame, since it was so effective.

Pros:

It reduces oiliness and helps to heal pimples quite rapidly.

Cons:

It makes skin quite dry, but I use a daily moisturizer that works wonderfully.

I only have moderate acne but benzaclin has really helped to control it. I used to use benzamycin and it completely dried out my skin and made it scaly and itchy. I find that this is much less harsh and with a bit of moisturizer, my skin is as close to normal as it has been since I was twelve! I used to get a single large papule every few weeks but I have not gotten any more for months. It heals any pimples that I have popped extremely fast, though I never have to pop any anymore. Overall, I really like this stuff!

Pros:

Has helped to clear up my trouble spots, however they are not completely gone yet... am still waiting to se if it will clear it up more. Easy to apply, I am finding the recommended amount is a good size to cover my whole face.

Cons:

I have had some of the side effects, but nor severely - redness on face, itchiness, flaky skin, dry skin...

It is the first acne medication that I have used, and I have only been on Duac for just over a week, but I am happy with the results so far. I am hoping that the side-effects will be worth it, but will try another form of medication if I don't see better results in the next couple of weeks. It is expenisve as it isn't subsidised by the government.
