Pros:

After only one night, my acne was drying up and the red spots were lighter. I used to get 2-3 new zits a day, now I haven't had one since I started using Benzaclin (knock on wood).

Cons:

VERY dry skin after only a few days of using it once a day. Burns, skin is pretty much constantly a reddish tone, but overall it works well to deminish acne and old "stubborn" acne.

I am 23 and started getting moderate acne problems about 2 years ago. I never had problems as a teenager, but once I went off of my anti-depressent, my acne got MUCH worse. So, I went to the doc and he gave me Benzclin, Differin, and monocyclin oral antibiotics. After reading reviews on this site, I have decided to only use the Benzaclin for now. Over night my acne got better. The red got lighter, my skin was less oily, and my breakouts have slowed way down. However, after only a few days of using it just at night, my face feels like it's going to flake right off. I use Clinique's Moisturizing GEL and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. This seems to help, but the skin under my eyes looks terrible. To combat this, I only drink water (and TONS of it), use lots of moisturizer and lip treatment, exercise, and to prevent GI and yeast infection problems, eat yogurt and use monistat once a day(sorry guys) but ladies, this will be your saving grace. It will keep good bacteria in your system. Good luck

Pros:

Has helped to clear up my trouble spots, however they are not completely gone yet... am still waiting to se if it will clear it up more. Easy to apply, I am finding the recommended amount is a good size to cover my whole face.

Cons:

I have had some of the side effects, but nor severely - redness on face, itchiness, flaky skin, dry skin...

It is the first acne medication that I have used, and I have only been on Duac for just over a week, but I am happy with the results so far. I am hoping that the side-effects will be worth it, but will try another form of medication if I don't see better results in the next couple of weeks. It is expenisve as it isn't subsidised by the government.

Pros:

Works fast, does not leave skin feeling greasy or heavy. Absorbs well. The only medicine that has cleared up my acne that I've stuggled with for 15 years.

Cons:

Very drying. Skin burns and is flakey. Need to use sparingly. Also very expensive unless insurance covers.

I would recommend this product. I have been on Retin A, Differin, and a bunch of oral anti-biotics and nothing has worked as well for me. Just wish it wasn't so expensive.

Pros:

Clearned up my acne fast.

Cons:

I got a very uncomfortable red burn line around the outside of my mouth. It feels like I coated it with glue and let it dry. VERY uncomfortable and not attractive. I recommend only using it as a spot treatment only, don't put it all over your face

If this disgusting line around my mouth ever goes away I'll keep using the cream.

Cons:

the Dryness. very little itching.

Pros:

I've only been using this for a week and have noticed a difference already.

Cons:

The price! I had to pay $25 for 45 grams and I still have 5 more refills to get.

I'm a little confused because it says on the box (and also the pharmacist told me) to put it on BEFORE bedtime (at night!). Some people have complained about not being able to go out in the sun - there is NO sun at night! It also says on the box that you can apply your makeup on top of the duac, but who wears make up to sleep?

Temporarely Effective

Ive used this in the past and loved it. The best topical I have used to clear my acne. But My acne became immune to it after around 3 - 6 months and back I was at square one.

Only a temporary fix

I honestly think it depends what type of acne you have in order for Duac to work. When I was around 14 years old it cleared up my 'moderate' acne well for around a year which led me to come of it however, when my acne came back worse than before it didn't work as well. It made my skin feel dry and made it red where I applied it at night which didn't go away for a couple of months after I stopped using the product. I did use this product for a long period of time and really think if its just keeping your acne at bay theres better products out there because it will probably never clear your acne up fully.

didnt really work for cystic acne

This worked really well for me but also brung up problems. Before I started using this I had cystic acne aka, red lumps all over my forehead cheeks and face and back in general. They were so sore! I used this every day and after about 6 months my cystic acne (all the red lumps) were mostly gone! I still got them but I didn't constantly have them on my face I had maybe 3/4 on a good day. however, under my skin, all over my forehead and on my chin were small bumps under the surface like a skin coloured rash of bumps of acne everywhere that I didn't have before. So by partially solving one problem, I had created another. I think this worked but only to a certain degree. I continued to use it for 2 1/2 years and it stayed the same. IT DOES WORK and does clear some of your acne but doesn't fully get rid of it. I would say if you have cystic acne its worth a try but if you have the occasional spot it will more likely work for you.
