Pros:

Available in a variety of strengths (I like the original, purple bottle, but Spectro Derm is great for sensitive skin) Unscented, non-irritating, non drying, widely available in Canada, affordable, available in bulk. Also, it`s completely soap-free.

Cons:

Non-foaming gel texture takes some getting used-to. Needs to be massaged into skin for 30 seconds minimum. Doesn`t remove thick or waterproof make-up ( I`m speaking from experience here)

Spectro gel SAVED my life when I started using it nearly 12 years ago. Before then, I was so desperate for clear skin that I was washing my face with baking soda TOOTHPASTE in an attempt to dry out my pimples, with disastrous results (flaming red, flaky, burning skin plus the pimples, of course) Over the years, I have occasionaly strayed to other products that had flashier packaging or just to change things up, but none of these products can hold a candle to original, unscented Spectro gel. My skin isn`t perfect, but it`s as close to perfect as *my* skin can get. I`ve heard that dermatologists often recommend Spectro gel during and after Accutane treatment, as well.

Pros:

Gentlest, best cleanser I've ever used.
Significantly reduced redness without overdrying.
One 500mL bottle goes a long way: lasted 2 months for me.

Cons:

Couldn't find it in the US.
Buying and shipping from Canada is expensive: $40 for two 500mL bottles.

Given the many products I've tried for acne, I usually don't get the opportunity to write a good review; however, Spectrojel is simply the BEST cleanser I've ever used.... BAR NONE! My skin usually reacts with virtually ANY chemical I put on my face and typically has a red, ruddy appearance. Within a week of using this product, the redness was significantly reduced and I started to see my skin get clearer than it has been in years (used in conjunction with Neutrogena OTS). It also doesn't dry my skin out like most other cleansers. There is some "tightness" right after I use it, but my skin doesn't get flaky. The consistency takes a little geting used to, and it doesn't lather up. In fact, it doesn't seem to be a particularly strong cleanser: perhaps it's just strong enough to get the job done without the irritation. Though it is expensive to ship it in from Canada, I would recommend it to anyone. Why don't they sell this stuff in the States?
