Pros:

This is a really good cleanser, because it is so gentle on your skin, yet it cleans away all the dirt and oil without overdrying. Leaves my skin soft and smooth. The smell itself does not reall bother me.

Cons:

Did not actually help me with clearing my breakouts, but I don't find that a problem, because Dan's BP does the job fine in clearing up my skin.

Definitely one of the best cleansers I've ever used. The cost is a bit high for my taste, but I'd rather spend a lot of money on a good cleanser, than spend little money on a crappy one. Matches all the description of a "perfect cleanser" in Dan's regimen, and was highly recommended by my dermatologist.

Pros:

I have used this product for 12 years now, and obviously love it. I have had acne problems, but nothing major, so I'm not going to dispute the claims of others on this site, but I feel that it is the most non-irritating cleanser I've ever used.

Cons:

No cons, just wanted to say more positive about this product. My skin looks great and I always get compliments on it. I've referred numerous people to Spectro Jel that have not looked back. I get my family to bring me bottles from Canada.

This product is the bomb! I have not tried all of the variations, but the three that I've used I absolutely cannot do without. To those that complain of skin irritation or increased oiliness...I believe that it is probably from the change-over from your old brand. I think this product (as any) deserves a longer trial, and perhaps used after taking a week off of your regular brand. Reviews on other sites support my claim that Spectro Jel is the most gentle product on the market. The reason it doesn't lather is because it has no sulfates (which are simply added to other products to make them lather and make the user feel like he/she is getting deeper cleansing, when in reality it's worse for you)

Pros:

I've used the combination skin Spectro Gel for about a year now and It's great. I never really had bad acne, but the occasional zit. It makes my face more clear and feel clean.

Cons:

It has a weird smell to it and the consistancy is slimey. However, it's worth it. Besides fragrance free is best your face anyways. Finally a gimmic free fash wash that works.

You get a lot of the product (half litre), considering the cost. It doesn't lather up, but it's good not to have all those bad chemicals all over your face. I wear make up, and there is usually left over mascara, but I just wash my face twice if I'm wearing extra make up and it takes it off. Still not a downside though. I should be using eye make up remover anyways.

Pros:

none

Cons:

This cleanser gives me cystic acne

my skin will be not perfect but alright to handle, and if I use this cleanser, i will constantly break out in cysts. When i quit using it they subside. Definitely the cause.

Mediocre.
I've been using the fragrance-free variant of this cleanser for quite awhile and I'm not impressed. It hasn't appeared to cause any adverse effect and it's entirely non-irritant, but it shows little sign of effectiveness as I still have yet to see improvement. I'm being rather generous with 3 stars, I have very sensitive skin that gets greasy quickly and I've fought with inflammatory acne that's sore to the touch and leaves hyperpigmentation for around 6 years now.... as such, I'm not expecting anything to work miraculously, but I'm looking for something better than this.

a cleanser alone 98% will not clear your acne all it is doing is cleaning your skin it is not treating it.

If you are suffering from inflammatory acne I suggest you review your diet. Nothing topical is going to help if you have food intolerances or a messed up gut.

Purple or Blue?
There're two types of Spectro Jel Cleanser for Blemish Prone Skin. One with Fragrance Free and another with Lightly Scented. So will the lightly scented version cause any breakouts? I looked up the ingredients and they both contain the same ingredients except "Parfum" which only the lightly scented version contains. Let me know if anyone here has used both and did one work better than the other. Here's the link for Lightly Scented Spectro - [link edited out] and here's Fragrance Free - [link edited out]

I personally have found the scented version to be better. I dont know why but I felt cleaner and my skin looked better when I used the scented one

the purple one is your best bet if you want to avoid any chance of irritation.

"Great to keep smooth skin, but not so good for acne."
This cleanser hasn't removed any of my acne. Actually after 3 weeks of usage, washing my face in the morning and at night my acne got worse. But with pairing this up with an acne cleanser I have noticed that it helps keep my skin smooth and soft. I wouldn't recommend this if you're having acne problems, but if you're just looking to use a light cleanser and keep your skin soft, this is the right product.

Pretty Good

Pros:

Doesn't dry out skin
Works well with combination skin
Reduces blemish size and amount

Cons:

Doesn't get rid of blackheads
Doesn't get deep through the tough built in pimples

I started using Combination skin cleanser for about a year and it worked okay for me. My t-zone is oily but in between my eyebrows is dry so it cleared up my face pretty good. But i realized that you had to put lotion on after that so that your skin wouldn't dry. Then i recently switches to blemish prone skin and i immediately saw a difference. I don't use the recommended lotion after i wash my face but i saw that i had less pimples then ever. It didnt dry out my skin. I love it. I will forever stick with Spectro. In the future i would like to try the spectro lotion.

Pros:

Great for sensitive skin
Doesn't dry out skin
Clears acne
Different types for different skin
Doesn't break moisture barrier
Leaves skin soft and clean

Cons:

A bit pricey
smell

I have struggled with acne for a while, but it got worst once I entered High School. I literally tried EVERYTHING in skin care, it all bothered my skin and I have sensitive skin, all the other products didn't have different cleansers it was one or you couldn't find one. I went to my local pharmacy and asked the experts on what would work for my sensitive combination skin, they handed me Spectro jel and said "Try this, You'll love it.", And I DID!! Bottom line is, if you are like me I can say you'll love it!
