Used to get a lot of pimples during teenage years. This completely cleared up whilst on the contraceptive pill Yasmin. I was on this for 10 years. Wanted to start a family so had to come off the pill. Pimples came back with a vengeance! At 30 I felt very self conscious and looked up solutions on the Internet. During my teenage years I'd used the usual harsh treatments which never worked, so knew it would be a waste of money. I found acne.org. However since I live in the UK I was not prepared to pay those prices on top of massive postage & packaging prices. I googled Benzoyl Peroxide and found that Boots sell the Panoxyl Aquagel 2.5% for as little as £3.50! Bought it in my local Boots the next day. My routine, just my normal Clarins face wash. Followed by toner. I then put my eye cream on (not getting any younger!), then I put the gel on my finger the size of HALF a pea, then spread this on what I call the 'Homer Simpson six o'clock shadow' area, avoiding the lips and the area around my eyes (basically avoiding where I out the eye cream). Sounds like a small amount but it does spread. Then after a couple of minutes I slap on my moisturiser. I reckon any will do, but I use Clarins. I only do this at night. I do not use the gel after I've washed my face in the morning, that would be too drying. My face cleared up a treat after a couple of weeks. On top of this I drink just under 2 litres of water a day, and I have a facial every 2 weeks, cos lets face it, how often do you work on your face for 30 to 60 mins? It helps to get rid of dead skin cells and any other clogging which can only help your skin! After seeing the results I stopped using the gel, but after a few weeks pimples came back, so I started using again and have been using the gel for about 4 months now and have perhaps had 6 pimples in total during that time which disappear very quickly. I can't recommend this product enough, and a big thank you to acne.org for making me aware of Benzoyl Peroxide. So

Pros:

works well for light to moderate acne
can see effects immediately
not expensive and works well
prevents new acne
makes skin smooth

Cons:

dries up skin initially...

i am 26 and have been suffering from acne for about 8 years now and it was getting worse.. also started having cystic ones which would stay below skin for months...!! I tried a lot of creams.. freederm gel, organic creams , sea salt, apple cider vinegar, lemon ...everything... until i started using this... it is a bit frustrating initially cause it dries up skin and makes it flaky ..but worry not..this is what i did to get clear skin in 2 weeks... start in the morning by washing face very gently with CHANDRIKA SOAP ( u can order it online or find it at some asian shop ).. this soap is lovely.. doesnt make skin oily and maintains ph balance..and smells great..pat ur face dry...and apply a thin layer of PANOXYL 2.5 gel over spots and then use FREEDERM OIL FREE MOISTURISER over it after 10 minutes.. this gel will prevent skin from overdrying... do the same before sleeping at night....just use panoxyl and not moisturiser.... Well thats it really ... let your skin be flaky and let it peel off .. what it does it is shed the outer skin and brings out new softer skin from below ,..also helps remove scars...better lock yourself in ur room for a week...after that u will see your spots disappearing...and getting fewer .. also it prevents new spots from coming... after following it for 2 weeks as you feel ur skin getting better reduce panoxyl to only once a day and use good amount of freederm moisturiser... i think people dont like this product cause it makes skin flaky but using less quantities and using a good moisturiser is the key...I only get a tiny spot every week cause my sugar intake is quite high...so cut that down too..dont worry too much about scars.. control new spots and scars will fade away soon ... i used panoxyl 2.5 cause it's mild and works well instead of 5 or 10 and stick to it for some months and not leave it after couple of weeks ...also please stay happy..!!!

Pros:

It clears up spots quite quick

Cons:

skin very red where used
skin feels tight and dry

I am 21 and have recently came out in chin acne, which I have never had before. I usually get the odd few spots around 'Time of the month' as you can imagine, I have been stressing out about it, which has not helped! I have a very healthy balanced diet, so I just do not know where its came from. Anyway my mum works in Boots the Chemist, so she brought home Panoxyl 2.5 gel, and I have started using it 3 days ago. It has cleared my spots quite a bit, but as its only on my chin and around my mouth, this skin is very red and tight, it does feel dry but I have not had any flaking or 'peeling' as people are saying?? Can someone tell me if this is yet to come? I have been using it twice a day - Once at night, then once dried using Vitamin E body shop moisturiser, and then in the morning, and once dried, the moisturiser again, then make up. It almost feels like I have a red film over the spots, and I wonder when this goes away?

Pros:

it does clear up the acne because it dries it real quick. i have mild-moderate acne and just a couple of days of using it my acne has dried up. very cheap..it's only 125 pesos(10mg)which is only about 2 or 3 US dollars.

Cons:

i applied it once on my cheeks to avoid breakouts and it has been a week but my skin is still red, very flaky and dry. i only used it once on my cheeks but the side effects are so long lasting.

i have very sensitive skin so i guess the side effects are harsh but it's a good product overall.

Pros:

- Dries Out and Tightens Skin
- Gets rid of and prevents acne
- Best results I've ever had!
- Good for oily skin types

Cons:

- Wouldn't recommend for any other skin type than oily since is completely dries out your skin!
- Leaves white flakes behind which are easily washable and not dead skin
- Not good for daytime use

Basically I used everything to try and get rid of my acne and this has been the only thing that worked! I used a lot of expensive products from my spa and my acne just kept getting worse... Then I decided to try this product and I HATED it at first so I decided to put it away and not use. Then I went on a trip and didn't wanna bring all my expensive products so I brought this and a simple cleanser and a salicylic acid treatment. Needless to say my acne had improved a ton at the end of the trip. 2 Months later my acne is almost gone which is the best I've had in 5 years! Basically it's cheap and it works, more than anyone could hope for :) IMPORTANT: I can't stress enough how much this dries up your skin so if you don't have oily skin you may be looking at the wrong product These are all my personal experiences and people may have different opinions.

Pros:

Fast
Effective
Cheap

Cons:

Over-drying, Peeling, Flaky, Stings and Burns -for the first couple of weeks of application until skin adjusts. (but honestly well worth it)

I had back and chest acne over a year ago so I tried this, I realised if I used a fair amount (meaning a lot everyday after showering) It instantly got rid of my body acne. But a few months ago I developed facial acne, baring in mind our faces are more sensitive that back and chest, So I started the regime last week I was my face with tea tree cleanser then dry my face, apply BP ( now I'm going to add more) once that has soaked in I apply Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturiser, It hasnt been long but so far I'm seeing dramatic changes!!

Pros:

Only think that clears my acne

Cons:

Can leave skin flakey
Causes my skin to be ultra oily

I've been using this for around 5 years now and it has cleared my skin no doubt. Every year or so I try to wean myself off, only to break out something sinister!! I'm back on it again after a really nasty break out, and initially getting used to it is the worst part. I suggest starting out with a very small amount, nowhere near what Dan uses in his videos. And ALWAYS ALWAYS wait for it to fully dry before moisturising. That really is key to this being effective. I noticed that my skin was really oily on this, so now I only use it at night. I stopped using it altogether and my face was nowhere near as greasy, but then I broke out. So now I'm just using it once a day. It does work, you just have to figure out the dosage that works for you, and make sure you're using it right, with lots of moisturiser.

Pros:

I've been using the aqua-gel or about 4 months now and the improvemet in my skin is incredible. My acne was only mild to moderate to begin with but now it is nonexistent! Easily absorbed and cheap to purchase over the counter.

Cons:

Irritating when I started using Panoxyl, my face looked sunburnt and was extremely itchy. Skin also became extremely flaky but E45 cream was very soothing and got rid of the tight feeling skin and flakiness as soon as it was applied.

A couple of times I gave up using Panoxyl because in the first few weeks it left my skin uncomfortable, itchy and flakey. However, now I've used it continuously for around 4 months I am so glad I persevered with it. My skin is soft, smooth, clear and glowing. It hasn't been like this since I was about 10! Panoxyl is easily available to purchase over the counter from pharmacys for about £3.50. The aqua-gel is definitely preferable to the cream as it is much more easily absorbed. I highly recommend Panoxyl as a BP treatment.
