Pros:

makes acne smaller
doesn't irritate my skin
my red marks are fading (they aren't all the way gone but are less red)

Cons:

when mask dries it flakes
drys skin (nothing a good moisturizer can't fix)
skin is a tad red but not as bad as before
It did dry out my lips but that's my error

I woke up this morning and when i saw my face I wanted to cry. I've used so many products (and I'm only 15). I have skin that tans pretty easily and when I started using Benzoyl religiously again (since I swore against it when I first used it) because it didn't seem to be making me super red, I now have HUGE red spots on my right cheek and chin. I saw all the reviews below and thought "hey, why not since I don't have to leave the house to get it" so I made a mask and left it on for about 45 minutes (until it started flaking everywhere) and I was pleasantly surprised to see smaller acne and fading red spots. I'm now going to try and stick with natural products because they seem to work the best. :)

Pros:

Prevents new breakouts
Clears face!!
Makes skin feel smooth

Cons:

If you use TOO much and don't wash it off completely it can cause your skin to peel a bit (atleast for me)

I cannot say enough good things about this! I've had acne since I was in my early teens and im now 21, it comes back every once in awhile and it always makes me feel so insecure about my face. I always spring to the store and pick up a new facial cleanser hoping something will finally work...but nope, it seems it works for awhile and then does no good. So of course when I read about baking soda, watched videos and researched I figures to give it a try, but had my doubts it would do any good since nothing else did... Boy was I wrong! I used it one day and already saw a difference the next morning. I've now been using it for just over a week. At first i was using it as a paste and leaving it on for awhile but I find it better to just grab a handful in the shower and wash my face with it and then let it wash off within 30secs-1 minute. Anyway i've been using it in the morning and at night for over a week and can see a HUGE change, I'm almost acne free, hopefully in just a few more days I will have completely clear skin. If anything i recommend this, dont waste your money on products that dont work. Give it a try. :)

Pros:

SKIN FEELS SO SOFT
Helps with acne

Cons:

Not sure it really works for blackheads which is what I wanted it to do

May sting a little (Be careful not to add too much and add a little more water to it for sensitive skin)

I used this a couple times and its been making my skin really soft. My acne has been going away and I'm sure It'll be gone if I use this more.

Pros:

Cheap, easy to use, fast results

I keep a small amount of baking soda in a dish in my bathroom (hope guests don't think it's something, ahem, stronger) and mix with a little bit of water to use as a scrub 2x a day. Other steps in my regimen: no commercial beauty products whatsoever. I wash my face with baking soda, tone with ACV, drink 1tbsp of ACV a day, and moisturize with pure coconut oil. Important to note: I also cut out nearly all dairy products about 4 months ago. (I'm of Asian descent and definitely lactose intolerant.) Results: No new major zits in over a month, for the first time in 2-3 years. When small zits happen, they dry up quickly and don't leave as much hyperpigmentation and scarring behind as I'm used to from before. My skin has more of a glow, and interestingly, my stomach feels better, too. I'm on my way to being clear, knock on wood, and will probably save over $150 dollars this year on commercial beauty products in the meantime. Conclusion: since I'm doing a combination of new things, it's hard to know exactly what effect the baking soda is having. But I intend to keep up with it, and really enjoy using it!

Pros:

- very inexpensive
- does not bleach fabric
- painless
- very effectivev
- feels nice :)

Cons:

- a little messy
- dries out skin a bit

I've struggled with acne for years and have been on just about every prescription on the market. I tried proactiv a few months ago, with moderate success. When that ran out, I tried a knock-off version, but it just didn't cut it. At that point, I was ready to try anything. I figured "what the heck," and tried the baking soda mask. I could not believe the results. My acne has almost entire cleared up. For me, baking soda is far more effective than ANY of my medications have been. I use a mask 2-3 times a week and, even at the time of month when I'm usually most broken-out, I had very few blemishes. All I do is mix it with a little water and apply it to my face as a paste. Then I let it dry. It feels very nice - a pleasantly cool sensation. Then I wash it off my face with water. It exfoliates my face and leaves it perfectly clean. It does tend to dry out my skin a little and make it feel tight, but I suppose that's really what I want it to do. A good moisturizer would take care of this if it bothers you, but I don't have one that I trust not to make me break out. I would DEFINITELY recommend baking soda as an acne treatment. It's dirt-cheap and works like a dream.

Pros:

1) Cleared up my skin after using it as a mask twice.
2) Reduced the size of my cystic acne on my forehead and cheeks
3) Brought up small whiteheads

Cons:

1) Irritates a little
2) If used too often, can really burn skin

This product burned my skin after the second use...and here is the reason why: I was starting using lemon juice every other night to see how it would work. It prevented new acne from forming as well (I recommend it). When I read about how effective Baking Soda is, I decided to give it a try. Only thing is, is that I did not let my skin "breathe." One night I put on the lemon juice, the next night I used the Baking Soda as a mask, next night was lemon juice again, and the night after that was another Baking Soda mask. My skin was red and tender that I could hardly touch it. So I decided to leave my skin alone for a few days and just wash it with a cleanser. It has been about 3 or 4 days and my skin is back to normal. I'm going to be using the Baking Soda as a scrub at night and as a mask once a week. Let's see how that works. But overall the results were quick and noticeable. Hell yeah I recommend it!

Pros:

Scrubby clean feeling
Seems to clear pores
SMOOTH and soft skin

Cons:

Didn't clear acne
Gave me a red rash under my eyes

I saw the great reviews and was hoping this would help my acne. I've been using it for about a month now. I noticed at first that my skin was very smooth from it, and it seemed to reduce pores. I used it as a scrub in the shower...just poured in my hands and scrubbed on my wet face, leaving it on for about a min or two and then rinsing off. I have an unsightly rash under my eyes (red bumps) that started when I used baking soda. I was being careful about not scrubbing around my eyes too... I stopped using the baking soda because it hasn't helped my acne. I have moderate acne and pustules, and it hasn't cleared since using baking soda. I feel my skin has gotten a bit worse--i attribute it to the pH unbalance that many say this causes. Redness, dryness, nasty pimples...I'm just disappointed. I have apple cider vinegar but i tried that by itself before and it didn't help and frankly I gag when I smell it, so I didn't bother to use it as a pH balancer. I recommend this as an occasional scrub, maybe once a month or week because it does make skin soft and clean feeling at first...I think prolonged use is unbalancing and unnatural for the skin. I am now moving onto Kavi coral soap bars and will reveiw how that works out later. Nothing seems to have lasting effects for me (tretinoin, proactiv, vinegar, baking soda, etc) so I'm hoping this will help. I was only using Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser morning and night, baking soda at night, and leftover proactiv repair lotion at night (because I wanted some BP and felt I wasn't doing enough to address the acne). If anyone knows of a really good acne fighting cleanser or something to use everyday please email me: foshodathomie@[link removed]

Pros:

Cleared up some bumps, lighter scaring.

Cons:

None really

I mix it with olive oil (instead of water) it doesn't dry out my skin. I use it every other night or so. It's pretty good No mirical or anything, but better than some store bought cleansers I've used in the past.

Please DO NOT use baking soda on your skin
Baking soda has a pH of 9, and science says that skin's optimal pH is 4.7-5.5. It's optimal because the bacteria that causes acne dies when it's in slightly acidic environment. All baking soda does is dry out your skin, increase acne in the long run, and damage the acid mantle.
