This product may ruin your skin's ability to retain moisture!
Baking soda has a very high pH compared to your skin, so using it can compromise the lipid layer of your skin that absorbs moisture! Anything citrus-y should be avoided for this reason as well. Go on youtube and search "Skin, pH and the moisture barrier (and why it's important)." It's super helpful.

Pros:

-Exfoliate
-Smooth Skin
-Dirt cheap

Cons:

-If really sensitive, it can make your face a little red (But not really that bad)
-Not recommended if you are still breaking out.

I have had problem acne for ages, clearing up only two-three months ago after seeing my Dermatologist. I was left with scarring, dark scars and some small indents that you can't really see at all until you are looking in the mirror closely, however, I confronted my Dermatologist about what I could do to get rid of the scars, and he said I looked just fine. (WHATEVER!) And that I didn't have any. (Oh, well. Still my semi-hero for at least he got rid of the dang zits) So, I found this, and tried it out. I was AMAZED at how much dead skin came off my face as I *gently* (keyword) rubbed the Baking Soda on my face. I have been doing it religiously for the last few months now, and I am seeing a difference, but it does make my face slightly red, but I am as sensitive as sensitive gets (pale-redhead) I still have little the little indents and pigment problems in a few places, but they would be a heck lot worse without this. I recommend it.

Pros:

- CHEAP
- makes skin feel clean after use
- clears up acne :)

Cons:

- might not work for everyone

I've had acne since I was in 5th grade and now I'm a senior graduating from high school. I've tried tons of products, neutrogena, clean and clear, clearasil, the acne regimen, kavi products, and lots more. All those products are good, but their expensive and I wasn't sure if their extensive ingredient list would be good for my skin in the long run. Well I tried baking soda and I LOVE IT! My acne is so much better I don't need to use foundation other than on a couple spots. I wash my face lightly with the baking soda (like a scrub), and then leave a mask on twice a week or on problem spots for about ten min and then wash it off. I highly recommend giving baking soda a try, all you have to lose is 59 cents but it might make a huge difference!

Not for everyday use, but don't overlook the benefits
Just like any other "natural" item in your war chest of acne fighters, this is not meant for everyday use since it can mess with the pH balance that skin needs. I am a huge fan of taking a swig of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV with the "mother") and a mouthful of water chaser before bed to help control my acne. I've been on antibiotics for 10+ years to control cystic acne and wanted OFF of them as they began to make my teeth grey and joints stiff. So I'm down to the lowest dosage and nearly off of them now that I have a long term routine with these three things: #1. I wash my face only with warm water. Yup! I wash it well, but rarely use any cleanser on any area except for mascara. And yes, I do wear foundation or mineral powder and yes, the water cleans it off. This is two years in practice along with #2. ACV as mentioned above for nearly a year. And when I have a break out area, #3. I lightly rub it with baking soda and rinse off. I don't let it sit on my face for any longer than 30 seconds. I repeat it in the morning and that's it. ACV on your face, or alcohol, or peroxide, or witch hazel are all short term solutions and all work to varying degrees. But using anything everyday will throw off the natural balance your skin needs to get clear and stay clear. Try washing with just plain ole' water for a few weeks and let your skin do the work it was made to do along with these other little helpers and see if you enjoy the same results I'm getting. Hope this helps!

Pros:

easy to make
easy to find
cheap
doesnt take more than 10 minutes a day
no harsh chemicals
leaves skin soft
tones down acne

Cons:

can burn if sensative skin
messy
if you put too much it can cause a rash

Baking soda WILL work for you, weither youre a skeptic or not, try it... you have nothing to lose!! its not like itll cremate ur face =) 1) mix baking soda and water to make a paste 2) apply to acne affected areas 3) tap, not rub it in , just pat it on and let it set for about 5-7 minutes. 4) once time is up, take warm water and splash it on your face. use your (clean) hand to wipe the baking soda off 5) dab, not rub the water off. 6) once dry, take cold water and splash on face( to close open , vulnerable pores) 7) pat dry 8) once face is dry , apply and oil-free moisturizer Voila

Pros:

leaves skin feeling clean and soft
not expensive

Cons:

can sting in the beginning, especially if you have just started using BP or other topical acne treatments, but this will get better after a few weeks!

I use baking soda after cleansing as an "extra cleanse" and exfoliator. It leaves you skin feeling really soft and clean which is why I like it so much! I don't know if this has helped greatly to reduce pimples because I started using it when I started applying ACV and lemon juice as toners... So I am not sure which product is mostly responsible for the improvement...Probably a combination of these 3 that helped my acne clear up this much. I still use it twice a day and I just love it :)

Pros:

- Flaten existing painful acne (after just 1 use)

- Brighter overall skin (maybe the oil redrawn make face less dull and dark)

- Less oily skin last longer

- Cheap

-

Cons:

Dont put it near your eyes, it's gona be really painful and hard to take out as the grains are reallyreally fine, you will regret.

I was damn scare and worry why i didnt feel the sharp sting or anything. Perhaps only on open acne wounds. Upon washing off i was horrified and very sad that those brown/ red stops become more obvious. And i over left it on dont put it too long if you're not confident for the first time. Less than 5 mintues would be enough i suppose. (should be explainable cos it is for exfoliating, the surface is slightly removed thus scar seems more obvious) BUT after my whole shower, some redness on skin is gone. Scar wise to be honest too early to say, i cant really tell much difference. Indeed good on making acne stop. *2 acne near mouth & acne on my neck is not pain anymore after just 1 use. Somewhat cured. No joke. Somehow like many says good for blackhead. AND most importantly, face is alot less oily. Maybe that explains why the pimple become alot less active due to redrawing oil from it. This review is only based on 1 usage and is pretty amazing already. Next i plan to put lemon (anti bacteria&fungi, vitaC into skin), and honey so less harsh. People with acne you must really try, it might really save you alot sadness.

Pros:

Cheap
Convenient
Effective
Gentle
Versatile

Cons:

If you're not careful, it can be harsh on the skin
Messy

I've been using this stuff for a good while now and have seen fantastic results! It has reduced pore size, evened out tone and helps speed up healing time if I have a breakout. I've seen numerous sources state that if you have acne-prone skin, it is recommended to exfoliate twice a week with this method, but personally I think that's a tad too much. Baking Soda's pretty potent; if not used with care, unpleasant results could occur. I use this once a week after my usual daily cleansing and my skin has improved more with it than it has in years. I only knocked off one little 'happy-dancing-egg-man' because as mentioned, it is potent and can be pretty harsh if you're not careful (speaking from experience). I say at the very LEAST give it a try, and make sure to start gradually.

Pros:

This is very inexpensive and easy to use. it is one of those things that almost every house has in it.

Cons:

It may burn the first couple of times, especially if you have an open wound on your skin.

Yes, use this. It works if you use is on a consistent basis. I mix it with honey to make a paste and apply it to my skin to make a mask, Leave it on for about 30 minutes, wash off with warm water and antibacterial soap, pat dry with towel and apply BPO gel/creme before going to sleep
