Pros:

This stuff is amazing!!
In two weeks my problem areas cytsic deep scarring pustules are all but history..My skin looks great!!

Cons:

None at all, even the price is worth paying for something that actually for a change works..
Bit tingly at first but at least you know its working away..
Seemed to bring out a few whitehead where acne was worse but thats all gone now....

Throw every anti-botic and other topical away and get this stuff.. No word of lie its amazing stuff!! And stick with it for at least two weeks!!

Pros:

smoother skin, less cystic acne, is not irritating or drying, fades red marks faster than they would fade on their own

Cons:

seems to lighten entire face and make it a lighter/white color, doesnt totally prevent acne

this is an effective topical that has a lot less negative side effects than most other topicals. be careful though!! I used azelex for about two months when i stopped using it almost entirely- massive breakouts followed. In the description of side effects it does say "if you stop using azelex too soon, your acne may return the same or worse than before." So true! If you get clear skin with this, don't stop completely- my advice would be to continue using it but just less frequently.

Pros:

Works wonders for my inflamed acne, cysts and comedones. Makes skin smooth and matte, bleaches scars and red marks.

Cons:

Stings and itches the first weeks.

Wash face with rich amounts of water ONLY, pat dry, then apply A LOT of the azelaic acid cream. (You might want to start with less, then ramp up the dose). My skin is now smooth and even, no pimples/cysts. Have tried: Differin, topical tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide, oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics. Azelaic acid beats them all in my experience.

Pros:

This stuff works pretty well. I've been using it for about 4 weeks. The trick is to put a lot on. Even though this might increase the stinging, putting a lot one will improve inflammation and redness a lot more (it worked this way for me at least).

Cons:

stings...that's about it though

very good at reducing all kinds of acne--but use a lot for maximum results

None

I've used this for 1 week exactly and it really is like a miracle! My skin is incredibly smooth and soft and 90% of my acne is completely gone. I love it!!

Pros:

A miracle, seriously! Non-drying nor irritating. Visible results in approx. 1 month, full results in 3 months.

Cons:

Itchy feeling (about 5mins) for the first month or so, but as the acne clears up it will subside. (Just think of it as a way to tell its working!)

If Differin or another Retin-A product hasn't worked for you I strongly recommend giving Azelex a try. Be patient and be fairly strict about your daily regime, face cleanser, followed by azelex, then oil-free moisterizer w/sunscreen 2x daily. Has completely saved my self-esteem which anyone with acne can relate too. Kind of expensive, my insurance used to give me a 50g tube for $35 but they bumped me down to the smaller 30g tube for the same price. One tube lasts about 2 months. Worth every penny tho. Lastly I use this product in along w/ minocycline, antibiotics are great option if you have moderate to severe acne.

Pros:

nice consistency, no irritation, no refrigeration, no bleaching, no dryness or peeling

Cons:

a little pricey, but it's worth it

I have tried A LOT of acne medications. This is one of my favorites. I experience no irritation whatsoever and it seems to control my acne better than the topical antibiotics I was using prior. No drug works for everyone, but this has worked very well for me. I will continue to use it.

Pros:

Doesn't dry the skin out and really works (for me at least!)

Cons:

Takes a bit of getting used to - it can sting if applied to damp skin or used too frequently.

I LOVE htis product. I have moderate acne and after a month of nightly use it really keeps my spots at bay. I stopped using it last month when I found out I was pregnant and immediately came up with horrible acne. I started it again this week after my doctor told me it was safe and they have already started to clear up - along with a reduction of scars. I know that everyone's skin is different - what works for me may not necessarily work for you - but Azelaic acid is natural, non-drying and has worked where nothing else has on my skin. Give it a go - be patient - only use it at night (any more will cause problems) and be patient!! best wishes

Pros:

The only good thing is that it works great under makeup because it gives skin a matte appearance.

Cons:

Made me break out all across my forehead! There is a burning sensation in the beginning, but it's not that bad.

After reading the great reviews on this site, I was really excited to use it. Within the first few weeks, there was no reduction in pimples, i actually had more! I searched reviews to find out if purging was a side effect but couldn't find anything. I knew there was a problem when i broke out all across the top of my forehead with painful pimples. I went back to my derm after two months of using azelex and he told me to only use azelex in the morning and gave me samples of retin a micro for every other night. In the morning i would wake up and my pimples were dried out and i believe that was 100% because of the retin a micro. I was still getting new pimples though, almost daily. So last week i decided to stop the azelex and continue with the retin a micro and it was an excellent decision...so far. I haven't had any new pimples and my acne scars are fading!

Pros:

So far...nothing. After using it with Clenia wash I broke out pretty bad. So I stopped using Clenia, and my acne cleared up a little bit, but i've noticed i'm still breaking out worse then when I didn't use prescriptions at all.

Cons:

Makes my skin feel greasy and oily, makes me break out worse.

To be honest, I might have to wait a little longer, but i'm disappointed so far. I had very light acne, but after going on Rx it's gotten worse. Supposedly marks are supposed to fade...but I feel like they're worse with this stuff. It also makes my forehead and nose oily/greasy. So far i'm very disappointed. I'm going to give it a week and then if it doesn't help i'm going to switch to using just Clenia.
