living in a frat, going months without drinking while on tane?

so i have 4-5 really close friends i live with, and the rest are casual friends, but one thing that unites us all is heavy binge drinking, pretty much every night...

obviously i cant drink while on accutane, so does anyone have any ideas of how to tell people without sounding like a douchebag? yea my close friends i care about will know the truth, but the rest?

maybe say ive been having liver issues or something, what do you guys think (based on my previous habits, EVERYONE will know something is up after about a week)

Binge drinking with frat guys leads to borderline homo activity. I've seen it. So you're better off skipping out. But you don't want to look like a dork at parties, so you might want to try this:

Just get a Jim Beam bottle and fill it with apple juice. And every once in a while pour some Skittles out of a prescription bottle and knock 'em back with the apple juice. Then grimace and shake your head for a second.

You'll get the best of both worlds. Keep your rep and maintain your edge while all the other guys are daring eachother to run across the commons naked and take a shit in the fountain or something. No whiskey dick, either.

Its tough. You could go with, I did really poorly in school last term and have to improve. Only drink once a week, just to keep up appearances.

Or, you could get a studious girlfriend and claim to have reformed yourself. Whatever you do, the Accutane will be worth it. cheers

Quality post - Legend!

I've told all my mates and family about my course of accutane and they dont care. I'm often the spirit of the party and I certainly DONT need alcohol to continue that trait! Who gives a toss what they think, it's your body and you're being clever in watching your limits whilst on a very powerful drug that they probably couldnt hack!

Go out, enjoy being sober and watching your mates andothers make complete wankers out of themselves and get laid more by taking 'advantage' of the realy drunk girls - no that last bit was out of order and a joke!

i'm just going to tell people i'm on accutane and it causes liver damage and so i cant drink or i'll die. not drinking will really put a damper on life though, lol. university wont be nearly as fun without it. in the long run though, 5 months of boring and annoying is sooo worth good skin forever.

i think im stil going to drink like once a week or once every other week, just not a whole lot.

Just get ripped, ya only live once, the damage cant be that bad, i think as long as u drink in moderation and get ripped here and there youll be fine.

I'm like dieing from the tane, so Iv'e told everyone incase they see me alittle crazy for half a year!

yeah me too, everyone knows i'm on it

about drinking, my derm told me that normally the 'dont drink alcohol' warning just means don't binge drink. most people on accutane can go on drinking as they normally do. the only problem is that it increases your side effects, so if you're already having side effects then it'll make them way worse. my joints ache like crazy and i dont want it any worse so i think i'll stick to drinking occasionally or like only one drink at once!

Alright dude, get a beer bottle. Go to the bathroom. Dump 65% of it out into the sink and rinse it down so noone will smell it in the bathroom. Go out, take all the shots you want and chase it with a beer, but when you go to chase it with the beer, pretend to be drinking the beer but actually spit out the jim/jack/jose into the beer bottle. The beer bottle should be dark so noone should know about it. ;)

Tell them your pet skunk has gone missing and that you have to be sober to find him. Alternate the story each week with a pet fish, camel, sealion and iguana. Even use a missing elephant named egor if it keeps them off your back.

This question always baffles me. What's wrong with just saying you are on a medication that interacts with alcohol, so you can't drink?

Exactly! Although I think it's a little different for teenagers and younger adults who may frown upon them for not 'socialising' in alcohol consumption. The best advice would be to say exactly that though, you're on medication and can't drink If they ask what for, just say your blood test when you went to give blood gave alarming results so you can't drink for a while, or that your liver is underperfoming etc. Plenty of excuses.

Or tell them it's a personal matter if they start prying.

yeah but it still sucks not to be able to drink properly for five months. thats my problem, not so much figuring out how to break it to people that i cant drink.

start training do boxing and weights. then go to the party with a protien shake and a bananna. if anyone pays you out say i havnt been training for nothing then do a little boxing demonstration. trust me people will respect you more than if you were out acting a fool on the piss. then if they do pay out still then show them what your made of give a little jab and a right followed by a left hook and finish with a uppercut. then finish of by saying im taking medication for my aggression so i cant drink.

Never agin will you have to explain your actions

In light of the above statement do you think you'll be able to stop drinking, or at least considerably reduce it, for several months? If you're sure you can then fair enough, I just think it's easier said than done.
