As everyone knows, one of the more serious and almost constant side affects of accutane is a rise Triglyceride levels in the blood. As a result, monly blood tests need to be performed in order to regulate safety.

My question: Should one on isotretinoin (accutane) watch his/her diet and focus on eating foods low in fat? Or can the triglyceride levels fluctuate from eating too many simple sugars or any sugars for that matter? Can this help alleviate the spike in the TG level?

Thanks

I have not had a problem with my trigycerude levels. I think it was because I have become extremely conscious of my diet and started educating myself on what is actually healthy for me. Whole grain foods can lower cholesterol levels. Flaxseed is one of the most powerful to fight bad cholesterol. Exercise also decreases bad cholesterol. Try not to eat high saturated fats like foods with alot of vegetable or animal fats. Just eat sensibly and exercise you won't have a problem with triglicerides Mine were rock bottom at 45. Have the doctor give you a record so you can keep track of what works for you. Hope I helped you out a little!
